     Popovich received 77 first-place votes. Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was second (27), Indiana coach Frank Vogel was third (7) and Memphis coach Lionel Hollins was fourth (6). Boston’s Doc Rivers and Denver’s George Karl each received a vote.

    And Pop gets over 50 more votes?  This topic is not really worth getting all bent out of shape about but Thibs deserved better.

    Yea, it was closer between Popp and Thibs than the voting suggests.

    To lose your MVP for this many games and STILL finish with the best record in the NBA? Wow… IF that’s not coaching, what is?

    Spurs were a surprise to alot of people,nobody expected them to finish with the nba’s best record..But they have experienced vets,that when healthy can play with anyone…Pops did a great job of motivating the vets and getting the best out of his young players.. But if everyone was healthy last season,they would’ve did great…

    *

    But i think this award should’ve went to Chicago coach Tom Thibs..Their best player missed over half the season..And if you look at their roster,they really dont have another playmaker on that team…They did it also by playing great defense….They sometimes have to run plays thru Noah…The Bulls also beat some of the nba’s best teams without Rose…And to have the Bulls finishing the season with of the nba’s best record goes to show how MUCH Coaching Thibs had to do to get the best out of these guys…

    Coach Tibs won last year, and that index of former COY winners shows that no one won the award in back to back years.

    Coach Pop deserves the award though.  This is only his second time winning it so it’s not like he has won the award too much.

    Tibs finished second which sounds about right.  If the Bulls go far in the playoffs without Rose then I can see Tibs getting another one of these awards someday since a healthy Rose makes this team a contender every year.

    I have no problem with Pops getting this award, well deserved. There were a couple of great examples of coaching this season with Vogel, Thibs and even Rivers and Collins. Considering the screwed up season it was, these guys demonstrated outstanding coaching.

    Vinny, on the other hand……you don’t give up on a playoff game Vinny! EVER!!!! Like we used to say here, "Derrick Rose at the end of the game Vinny!." Now it’s, "Chris Paul at the end of the game Vinny!"

    No way Coach Thibs would have won back to backs, even Coach Jackson never did that, Coach Vogel would have been my personal choice but to give Coach Poppovich a 2nd Coach of the Year award was well deserved.

    When does Coach Poppovich go into the HoF do people think, personally I think it is now overdue. If he’d been a 40 game a year college coach, he’d have been in by now I reckon.

    @Rudeboy

    I’m always here, lurking in the background. But ever since the short bus arrived about a month ago (actually, that is an insult to the mentally challenged), trolls like dede, bieber fever and the rest have turned me off to this place for a while.

    TLI has one job, and he can’t even do that right. The guy could fu#k up a cup of coffee, forget about it.
