Christmas is almost here, so in the spirit of fun I thought I’d mix hoops with holiday and ask a question to all who believe in the season of gifts.

Question: What do you want for your team this Summer Christmas AKA the 2014 NBA Draft?

For the fun of it, answer in two ways: What is your LUMP OF COAL (meaning if your team GM totally screwed the reindeer, and all was lost) and what is your CHRISTMAS MIRACLE (your team somehow lucks out and wins the lottery or something similar)?

For me, I’m a diehard Wolves fan, so this is how I would answer.

LUMP OF COAL: We would barely miss the playoffs. Because of David Kahn and the stupid Wes Johnson Trade, we lose out on a top 13 protected pick, essentially leaving us with nothing this Summer Christmas.

MIRACLE: Flip Saunders realizes that the Wolves as currently constructed are built to be at best mediocre. We tank. After the season we trade KLOVE for a defensive big and high draft pick, giving us TWO TOP 7 picks. We draft Andrew Wiggins and the BPA. We have a team to compete FOR REAL. Merry Summer Christmas! HO HO HO!

Those are mine, What about you guys?

Bonus: What do you actually want this holiday season?

    Thanks, Happy Holidays!

I love magic but I don’t think they can mess this up but I have to go with the hometown sixers. My lump of coal is us winning or even getting a top 3 pick and selecting  joel embiid im not a big fan of his then a "Rodney hood " with the second first round.

my miracle Christmas is us getting the top or a top 3 pick with our pick and  the number  6 pick with the pelicans and selecting wiggins or parker with our first then smart , randle,or  who ever the bpa is(hopefully somebody  slips)  with our second lottery pick.

    noel,

    parker/wiggins

    smart/randle/bpa

    mcw

Is a great foundation to start building even if noel isn’t a allstar just the jru trade alone set us up for success if it pans out like this. Mine you we will still have  asset in Thad and maybe sign Turner back.  We could make a weak eastern conference playoff team or continue to build through the draft either way we will only improve long term.

The worst thing that could happen to the Rockets is:

    • In terms of the draft, probably drafting a guard.  We have very talented guards and don’t need another.

The best thing that could happen to the Rockets is:

    • Draft Adreian Payne.  A big that can shoot from outside and can bang inside.  I really like Adreian and thing he would be perfect as a PF off the bench.  Not to mention, he’s a senior, which means he’s more ready to help right now than other players.

Jazz continue to tank and land Wiggins or Parker with their first pick. Warriors fall apart and somehow one of the guys listed in the top 8 slides to the Warriors’ pick, which the Jazz own.

Coal: Jazz finish terribly, but still end outside the top three. With Parker/Wiggins gone they pick a big that gets underplayed in their croweded front court and turns out to be a bust. Also, the Warriors end w/the best record and the Jazz’ next pick ends up having zero value.

Wow… imagine the Jazz gets the 4th pick and Wiggins/Parker/Randle are gone. Who would they select? They already have Kanter and Favors… so Embiid is unlikely. Do they pick Smart or Exum to be the SG next to Burke? Though decision…

Coal: The Lakers finish 8th or 9th in the West and either get swept in the first round or miss the playoffs all together.  They fail to cash in on the D’Antoni effect and let all of their players on expiring contracts having career years (Jordan Hill) walk for nothing.  Pau walks for nothing (Not that he would net a considerable return but something could be had for him).

Wishlist: Kobe remains healthy and plays the rest of the season.  They convince a fringe playoff team that Pau could get them over the hump and cash in and said team still misses the playoffs :).  They somehow get lucky with the ping pong balls and their own pick nets them a top 3 pick(any conspiracy theorists out there?) in which case they get Wiggins, Parker, or Exum.  I’ll settle with Zach Lavine.

Lump of Coal: Herb Kohl gives into his urges and pushes for an idiotic trade, while possibly giving up future assets such as draft picks, to get a player that puts the Bucks in contention for the 8th seed/last lottery spot again rather than tanking, blowing a huge opportunity to get a franchise changing player somewhere in the top 5 picks.

Christmas Miracle: Herb Kohl finally decides that tanking this year (and maybe for a few more) is a good idea, and the Bucks finish in the bottom three of the league. They win the lottery and in the days leading up to the draft make a trade that sends one of their overpaid players (looking at you Mayo/Ilyasova/Sanders, or a combination of them) to a team that gives them a top 10/late lottery pick in return. With the first pick they take Andrew Wiggins, and with the second pick are fortunate enough to snag Zach LaVine.

Lump of Coal: The Knicks make a miraculous turnaround and we lose the chance at an absolute steal while having a successful season. I don’t see us missing the playoffs but that would suck pretty bad too but we would at least get in the lottery, we started off 1-4 and are 12-4 since so I’d say we’re in pretty good shape.
Christmas Miracle: We finish 5th or 6th in the West. The Knicks somehow fully fall apart or Melo goes out for the season or they just continue this trend of really bad basketball and we get a Top 5 pick. Pretty much would be fine with any projected Top 5 but Embiid would be sort of an unnecessary risk. I’ll take either Wiggins or Parker especially and we add them to an already pretty good young team with a bright future under Shaw and finally get that superstar player that we’ve been missing.

The Nuggets are STILL benefiting from the Melo trade lol. If you guys get a top 5 pick in this draft that would be a huge kick to the balls of Knicks fans.

Lump of Coal- 8th, 9th, or 10th seed in the west, sign Gasol for 6 or more M’s, lose Nick Young & Jordan Hill, & keeping Jodie Meeks and not making a trade for a real center

Christmas Miracle- Tank! this is the perfect year to do so, get a top 5 lottery and pick up one of these seven players Parker*, Randle*, Smart*, Exum, Embiid, LaVine, or Gordon. sign Melo, sign Gasol to a deal worth no more then 5 M’s, sign Jordan Hill and make at least one trade that will get the team a big that can rebound and play that D

Lump of coal:  end up a 4 or 5 seed in the West and take Austin with the 24th pick.  Mavs end up with the 20th pick so we have to wait another year for it 🙁

Xmas miracle: Mavs end up with the 21st pick, Thunder trade that pick and their 1st and 2nd to move up to 15 where Zach LaVine is somehow still sitting there!

    Magic

Lump of Coal: The Magic lose out in the lottery and don’t get a top 6 pick, missing out on Parker, Wiggins, Randle, Smart, Exum and Embiid

Miracle: Magic get a top 2 pick and therefore are guaranteed either Wiggins or Parker (my preference)

What I want for the holidays this year: a PS4, if I have a good GF she will already have bought it for me!

Lump of Coal: We miss the play-offs, end up with the 14th pick and take a chance on Isaiah Austin who has an elite level work-out for us and he ends up being a huge bust/late bloomer who will only come into his own once we waive or trade him.

Christmass Miracle: We go on a massive winning streak and end up having a safe lead as division leader and home court advantage in the play-offs. we rest steph curry due to this and nemanja nedovic wins western conference rookie of the month for april. come draft time, we swap him and our own first for whoever has the rights to Zach LaVine and thus acquiring the third Splash Brother to serve as our super sub along with the improving Harrison Barnes.

        no they dont.

we dealt one pick to the nets which was sent to the Jazz. that pick had protection up untill next year’s draft but was already given last June since protection was only from spots 1-6, hence we have our 2014 draft pick. know your facts man if youre going to try and act all knowledgeable.

Lump of Coal : miss the play-offs ,or becaome the 6th or 7th seed while the East improves, then found ourselves with mid first round pick again ,and we will be destained to give OKC lottery pick in 2018,also we will just trade down several times to get another undersized combo guard

Christmass Miracle:we get around 3-5th seed, give OKC their pick, found a way to trade couple of our 2nd round picks with cash and get a late first round pick,we land Saric who we wanted last year all the way ,he immediatly becomes Dirk back up PF and give us options in trading Wright

or we just such and get top 10 pick ,somehow get our future franchise player to bild around
