OhCanada-ParticipantSearching for a replacement to Jakob Poeltl the Raptors recently worked out Christian Wood and Thomas Robinson.

Jr. ROXASParticipantBoth intruiging players in their own ways but I doubt they’d get significant minutes with the Raptors anyway. Nurse is going to play a lot of small lineups, and J-Val, Ibaka, OG, Siakam and even Kawhi will share those big men minutes. I wouldn’t mind them resigning Noguiera though since he already has good chemistry with the team.

cominup7ParticipantHow high are the Raps on Noguiera? It seems like they’ve been trying to develop him forever, but he could at least fill the Poetl role cheaply
Sidenote, but are the Raps development staff bad, or does the FO office just draft poorly. They haven’t developed any of their own drafted players into being more than bench depth since DeRozan.

zaphodParticipantTheir last 4 first round picks were Anunoby (23rd), Siakim (27th), Poeltl (9th) and Wright (20th). These were all very solid picks, and all have shown significant development. They all could/would be starters in the right scenario (actually Anunoby was last year).

cominup7ParticipantBut what about Ed Davis (13) Jo Val (5) Terrence Ross (8) and Bruno Caboclo (20)?
Those you named are interesting young bench pieces in theory but none of them can be depended on to fill in if a starter was injured, and none of them project to be even average starter quality, outside of possibly Poetl.
If Kawhi gets injured again this season the Raps are gonna be in sell mode, just for the fact there’s so little impact talent on that team outside of him and Lowry

zaphodParticipantThe only guy you mentioned who was drafted under the current regime was Caboclo, who was a disaster. Those other guys were drafted when Colangelo and his crew were were responsible.
I think you are underestimating how good Toronto’s bench was last year, and what those players will be capable of going forward (IMHO)
