Lets just spell it out. Cleveland has the #1 draft pick. They need a small forward. Otto Porter would be a great fit but is too high to be pick #1 overall. He probably won’t make it past Washington if they traded down past the #3 pick.

So, if you’re Cleveland what do you do? Would you pick the BAP? Would you draft for team needs (Otto Porter)? Most importantly I’m curious to hear some good ideas for Cleveland as far as trading down. Any ideas???

I still dont understand why are people saying porter as number 1 is too high, thats really dumb, he’s gonna get picked with the third pick anyway.. they are really weak at the SF spot, so why not take him?It fills your need and it gives you the most NBA ready player in the draft to actually help you try and go for the playoff hunt..

You don’t think that’s even a little a wasteful? Generally the #1 draft pick is a player most would predict to be a future all star. If they don’t pan out to be one they’re usually regarded as disappointments. I can’t remember the last time a teams drafted a “solid role player” as the #1 draft pick. At the very least McLemore and Noel would have more initial trade value. For someone willing enough you could turn that #1 pick into a LOT more than a “solid role player”…ijs.

To say McLemore is a better leader is a JOKE! So what if Cleveland busts with Noel, in terms of his health? It’s a risk, but the reward of having him as their center of the future is great. It may be true they’ll need more scoring in the post but that’s not an end all problem. Draft him and Giannis or Saric at 19 and let the team play. Sit Noel for the year and bring over one of the international’s next year. You’re then in a prime position to pick a lottery player from next year or maybe they sneak into the playoffs, who knows? You’ve then got Irving, Waiters, Thompson, Zeller, Noel, one of the IN small forwards, and your 2014 pick. Hell, they might be able to trade a package for a Love or Aldridge at that point depending on player stocks. Everyone talks about how bad it is between being a 4-5 seed and a fringe lottery team and honestly that’s where their headed if you don’t aim for high reward. They even have the first pick of the 2nd round as another asset. Porter would be an awesome fit with this team, I agree. But this is how the league works. If Noel busts, fine. But injuries can’t scare you from reaching a ceiling, because if Roy and Oden would have stayed healthy, they would be champions.

I think they will be able to draft a Center in the late lotto around 13 as they will look to package picks 31,33 and 19 to get a player such as Adams. To fill the need at SF i reallly want to see them get Porter. A few things could happen with getting porter in the draft.

Both B-Mac and Noel scare me. Porter IMO will not be a ‘soild role player’ as suggested above. I think he will be borderline all star, might make a few in his prime. Yes, B-mac has more potential but he just has to many questions when I think about him and just don’t see him living up to it.

Drafts are always hard because there are always players in the top10 who never make it, don’t stay in the league or did not end up the player we thought. This draft will be no different and players will follow suit, so I think B-mac is one of those players who will not make it.

Word is Washington are liking Bennett and with Wall and Beal calling for a pick and pop guy, Porter may not be picked up by Washington.

If this is true then he could slide. He won;t be picked by Bobcats, that is an almost certainty after grabbing MKG, so there is a very real possibility he could be there when the Suns pick at 5. A trade could happen here if this pans out. With suns packaging a few things together to get the 1st pick.

I have heard a few reports(don’t put to much stock into this) that Orlando like B-mac. If they are super keen on him closer to the draft they could try and move up to take Cavs pick to grab him before Cavs.

All in all i am really loving this draft. I love trying to check out who will be the better player, who won;t make it and were players will go. Everything is still up in the air which makes it even harder.

MLB and the NFL have tons of spots and MLB makes every team be represented. Any Eastern conference forward will be behind Paul George, Lebron,Deng, Boozer, Josh Smith,Pierce, KG,Carmelo,Rudy Gay, and Greg Monroe. Of course they are “borderline”. Everyone is.
