Robb_CParticipantThe City of Chicago alone has produced in the last few years
Jahlil Okafor
Cliff Alexander
Jabari Parker
Anthony Davis
Evan Turner
Derrick Rose
Iman Shumpert
Patrick Beverley
It blows my mind the city has produced this many stars in the last few years

IhateusernamesParticipantThe CHI has had great talent at the top, but the depth has been there recently. I think 2014 changes that. But alot of bust out of the CHI recently.
Mike Shaw
Myke Henry
Kevin Dillard
Wayne Blackshear (not a total bust but not near what he was supposed to be)
Sam Thompson (another blackshear)
Crandall Head

juves4783Participantthey used to have show on fox sports (i think?) that was called chicago preps. it was pretty entertaining look into the high school scene and featured eddy curry, will bynum, luther head, sean dockery (duke) and jason straight (wymoing). but yeah, chicago does put up some great talents. that was showcased in the mcdonalds aa game.

Moon RiverParticipantFrank Kaminsky. Seriously he is from the Chicago burbs, but if you have Shumpert on there (played at Oak Park/River Forest) you have to include Frank the Tank!

The QParticipantPretty sad that DePaul and Illinois still suck with that talent there.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantYeah, Illinois doesn’t suck bro. And they are finally getting that Chicago talent. Malcolm Hill and Kendrick Nunn are potential stars. Aaron Jordan and DJ Williams have loads of potential. Hopefully they Brunson on board and then you will be eating some crow for sure

DolanCareParticipantI’ve always thought Baltimore/DC had the best:
Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony (debatable, but he grew up in Baltimore in my books), Sam Cassell, Delonte West, Rudy Gay, Jeff Green, Michael Beasley, Ty Lawson, Roy Hibbert, Greivis Vasquez, Grant Hill,
Those are the stars that I can think of. But there’s a slew of rotation players form the Mid-Atlantic as well.

Warned2820ParticipantShumpert and Turner aren’t from Chicago.
For some reason the top players from the Midwest have no interest in playing in the Big Ten.

ChewyParticipant1. In terms of Chicago busts, you need to include Jeremy Richmond (who Illinois actually landed- go figure)
2. I’ve seen this topic on this board a few times and some past posters have done an amazing job of breaking it down (I really can only do Illinois when it comes to being that in depth) . In terms of NBA success, Chicago is top 5 with Houston, Seattle, LA, Baltimore area. (In terms of NBA players I don’t think NY is there)
3. I think Groce is getting the best Chicago players he can get at Illinois. The top 3 players in Illinois will always be recruited nationally and U of I just can’t compete with the thoroughbred schools. I don’t think they will ever get a Parker/ Rose/ Okafor. But I am sad that they missed out on Paul White, I thought they had a chance with him.

MalcolmxParticipantRecenly New York basketball has been down from Pro’s all the way down to the Preps. But in history New York has still produced the most NBA players. It’s by a good margin also. But basketball in New York city has really declined.

tuck243ParticipantDidn’t realize just how good Chicago Basketball really is… And it goes back further than the recent group of kids. But I don’t think any group in the country had the best players hands down for consecutive years like this… The big thing I like about the Chi is their public schools.. LA just has Dominguez but outside of that players go to prep school.. Same with DMV kids… Chicago hands down…

jonus grumbyParticipantChicago may have top end talent but I don’t think they have depth. Illinois has a lot of colleges and a lot of them are in the Chicago area. No Illinois team made the NCAA tournament this year. If Chicago had a lot of talent some of those lesser schools who get the next levels of talent would be good. Teams like NIU, UIC, DePaul, Loyola, ISU and EIU who get the “leftovers” who are not able to go big time should be better. NIU is good in football with getting the players that are not good enough to go to the BCS schools. It should be that way in basketball also.

IhateusernamesParticipantThanks for negging me for telling the truth about the CHI (my hometown) anyway.
Since we are being technical, Kahwi Leonard is from Riverside (not LA).
Paul George is from Palmdale (not LA)
Austin Daye is from Irvine (not even LA)
Klay Thompson is from Rancho Santa Margarita.
Iman Shumpert is from Oak Park (Literally across the street from the West side of Chicago)
Evan Turner is from Westchester (A little past Oak Park).
Anyway pettiness aside, the Los Angeles area has produced more depth than Chicago as far as NBA talent and productive college players, but Chicago has had 2 #1 picks in the last 5 years (Rose, Davis), and Parker is knocking on the door, thats gotta be pretty historic. Especially with Rose and Parker being from the same HS. Not sure when one HS has had 2 #1 overall picks.
Ant Davis always gets love from me for going to the same HS I did.

joecheck88ParticipantWho’s beating this team?
PG – Earl Monroe, Kyle Lowry
SG – Kobe Bryant, Cuttino Mobley, Dion Waiters
SF – Michael Kidd Gilchrist, John Salmons
PF – Rasheed Wallace, Morris Twins
C – Wilt Chamberlain, Malik Rose
That is a tough squad to handle.

Robb_CParticipantIhateusernames you are mistaken, Evan went to St.Joes because he was recruited by Pingatore.. Evan was never from westchester he took the bus everyday from the westside to go to school there..
Evan Turner is from Chicago.. (we grew up childhood friends)
Evan went to school in Oak Park using a family address but always lived in Chicago.. He lived on the Westside of Chicago and Oak Park is on the Border where Iman is from.

Ghost01ParticipantAll time, this argument is so hard to gauge objectively…
But over the past few years, Chicago has clearly had the best talent. Between Jabari last year, and possibly having 2 top 3 picks next year, they are on a hot streak right now.
