Lotto StudParticipantRight now looking at the Bulls draft position they have 2-mid first rounders, a lot will change within the next 3 months. Free Agency talk aside, I feel as though they should make a big their first priority for Noah’s sake with 1 of those picks. They need another big body down there, Mohammed’s time should have been up.
The Bulls are very deep at the 2-3 spots which leaves PG becoming the next priority option. Every year they acquire backups who are very serviceable, but do not keep them because the players play themselves into bigger contracts. A few weeks ago they acquired Jimmer Fredette whose only purpose is to come in for spot up shots which is not a problem at all, but I feel he is not the answer going forward backing up Rose just like Teague was not.Rather then keep picking up PGs without planning to keep them long-term through free agency, draft a guy that will fit the mold instantly such as Semaj Christon because he will most certainly be on the board. I consider Christon a safe pick from a rookie standpoint for Thibbs.

Chilbert arenasParticipantMy take:
They should take Adrian Payne or Montrez Harrell with their first pick to fill that big off the bench.
The second, if they keep it, take either James Young, big upside and can help space the floor, or Nik Stauskas who reminds me of Belinelli.
I also think they should take Aaron Craft with 49th pick or as an undrafted free agent. He just seems to be a Thibs kind of player.0- Posted on: Sat, 03/15/2014 - 2:49pm #879365
Lotto StudParticipantWhy another 2-3? Adding a PG is very important going forward. They are already loaded at the 2-3 spot. If you are telling me Butler, Snell and Dunleavy Jr. are not good enough going forward I think that’s very strange.

BajeebzParticipantJust looking at their roster, it doesn’t seem like they’re loaded at the 2-3. Butler is beloved by everyone, but Dunleavy is getting old (34 years old next season), and Snell is only a 8.5 PER while playing 18 minutes a night. Why not bring back Augustin (14 ppg 5 apg 17 PER) to back up Rose next season, and then do as Chilbert said and bring in a tough, physical, athlete like Payne or Harrell (both of those guys would do well in Chicago) and then look for a more long-term solution on the wing. Both Stauskas and Young are good options (Stauskas because he’s a gamer, and Young because he’s got a lot of long-term potential). Based on your username, I’m guessing you watch tons of Bulls basketball Windy City. Do you not like Augustin? Or do they need a different type of point guard? I know his scoring has been a huge boost.

Lotto StudParticipantI watch the Bulls whenever they are televised but that does not have anything to do with my user. My user is just another Derrick Rose moniker, my previous user was Memphis Tyga23.
I like Augustin because he is fundamentally sound but I just don’t see them bringing him back, because he has played himself into a huge contract similar to Robinson’s situation last season that will come from a bottom feeder. I think they need another type of PG like you’ve mentioned, a change of pace type of guy who I mentioned earlier Christon in a similar mold of Rose/Westbrook.

BajeebzParticipantYeah, I guess if Augustin has played himself into a big contract and the Bulls aren’t able to bring him back, then getting a point guard becomes a big priority. We all want Rose to come back strong, but some insurance is necessary at this point.

hbomb3300ParticipantCompletely agree that Craft would fit perfect with Thibs! I think he prefers offensive point guards though… but I hope he ends up there.

DolanCareParticipantI like the Harrell idea. Then again, I’m just high on Montrezl in general- there are few teams that would say no to an athletic big with his defensive instincts.
The big prize would be Aaron Gordon for the Bulls IMO. Thibs would have a lot of fun plugging in Gordon within his defensive schemes, especially on the perimeter where he’s shown to be quite the on-ball defender.

joecheck88ParticipantI love Harrell too but I have him off the board by the time the Bulls pick. I think the getting a guy like Semaj would be a good pick up for them. A guy that can be a spark plug off the bench and can play the 1 and 2 a bit. And he has potential as a defender. Think he is perfect.

livinlegend4blkParticipantAaron craft is going to get playing time in the NBA, Drafted or not he is going to make a impact some way

HitsterParticipantI’ll be interested to see how the Bulls approach this year’s draft if they get the two first rounders within the top 20, they will have some nice options including maybe trading up if they can. I do wonder whether they might look to flip a pick for one next year perhaps as if they bring Mirotic over and possibly do an FA move or two would they two more NBA rookies on the roster.
With the Bulls a lot depends on D-Rose returning sound and something near his MVP form but the rest of the roster is very solid so maybe they leave be pretty much next season. Let Boozer expire, get D-Rose back, get Mirotic settled then really look to refine the roster after 2015.

FritzParticipantI think drafting T.J Warren would be a good pick. Has high scoring potential in the league, and under Thibs will be passable on defense. I think Snell will replace Mike Dunleavy’s 3 point shooting need, but I think TJ could end up becoming the Bulls starting SF. TJ would give them someone who can create his own shot, and would work perfectly receiving back door passes from Noah.
Other pick I would go for a backup PG if we dont resign Augustine or a backup big if we cant get Mirotic to come next year.

TheLastWordParticipantIf the Bulls can get Melo, bring over Mirotic, and add two more quality players in this draft they will be scary good even if Rose never is himself again.

220ParticipantOne of the biggest needs the Bulls have is that they need more guys who can create their own shot and create shots for other guys. Even if Derrick Rose comes back fully healthy it would be useful to have some more playmakers.

Ghost01ParticipantHere is my Bulls suggestion.
They have a decent amount of assets that they could trade: Butler, Gibson, Mirotic, 2 mid first-rounders.
I would take a long look at making a blockbuster trade this summer. I don’t know if its Kevin Love, or Carmelo Anthony, or someone else, but if they have any faith in Rose, and they want to be a contender during Rose and Noah’s prime, then they need to make a big splash. Running this same team back isn’t going to change their trajectory.
Let’s say Minnesota finally realizes they are going to lose Love next summer regardless, wouldn’t Butler, Mirotic, and 2 firsts be enticing? And, if they then amnestied Boozer and by some faint miracle signed Lance Stephenson, that would be a very formidable contender. Pie in the sky, for sure, but worth hoping for.

Lotto StudParticipantI totally get and understand what you are saying but the base of the topic was to build from the draft putting Free Agency talk aside. The draft comes before Free Agency.

XYRYXParticipantI like the idea of bringin in a physical guy like Harrell but the Bulls need Scoring. It all depends on what will happen with Booz next season. He gets a lot of burn and is not a good defender in any way but on the offensive end they need perimeter scoring imo. There aren’t many pure scorers on the roster and I can’t really believe Thibs plays a rookie significant minutes even if Butler did. If the Bulls get rid of Boozer they will try to add a piece like Melo or a proven shooting guard.
I simply don’t think the Bulls will keep both picks due to the unclear situation.
