HitsterParticipantAlmost unnoticed the Charlotte Hornets under Coach Steve Clifford have already equalled their best ever season of 44 wins post the franchise being re-established in 2004. Considering that Al Jefferson and MKG have missed large chunks of the season this is a great team effort by all the squad.
Like a number of good NBA squads these days they don’t have a superstar player although Kemba Walker has had a fine season and lead them in scoring.
The Bobcats could also win their first divisional title of their new era and could be seeded as high as 3rd which would be a great effort. They must have a great chance of winning their first play off series of the new era and their first since 2002. Whilst I don’t see them as realistic contenders I feel they can make Conference Semis and might sneak a Conference Finals spot with the right seedings. For a smaller franchise this will raise their profile and bring in nice revenue.

CynthiaParticipantI’m just glad they got rid of the Bobcats name, I honestly have a hard time even associating them with the Bobcats anymore. It’s like they were a whole new team once they became the Hornets again.
To your point though, I think Clifford is one of the most underrated coaches in the league. Granted I haven’t watched a ton of Hornets games but the few I have he really seemed like a no-nonsense type guy and the players seem to really respect him.

r377ParticipantThey have had some nice winning streaks lately. I think it comes down to them and the Raps to see who play Cleveland in the east finals

benny15Participantimagine, just 4 years ago, they set the record for least amount of wins in NBA history. theyve put a higher emphasis on good character players, although did not shy away from going after talented ones, just having a short leash on them. they took a step back last season, but that was just an injury plagued season where Kemba Walker, Al Jefferson, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist all missed significant stretches of the season at different points.
the addition of a secondary playmaker in the wing in Batum has been huge and they were able to off-set the loss of al-jeff’s shot creating in the post with finishing down low in zeller from passes. the much improved outside shooting has also been as big with starters Kemba Walker and Marvin Williams been much more reliable this season compared to rest of their careers.
Im really hoping this team continues to grow and get better and that MKG will not have health issues going forward. its always refreshing to see a once bad team improve and reach the play-offs, especially when its growth comes from the whole team
