UNCbasketballbumParticipantOn Inside the NBA on TNT, they said that the Thunder were the first team other than the Lakers, Spurs or Mavs to win the West since 1998. I had to think back and they were right. That’s a heck of a streak for those three teams that just got broken.

laarethekingsParticipantI understand that OKC is a great team. And like Jerry West said the whole league might be looking up at OKC for years to come. But let’s not all say we didn’t see them becoming this good they hit on every top 5 pick they had in their bad years. In a three year span they drafted a superstar in Durant, great role player in Green, top 3 PG in Westbrook and now Harden might be the 3rd or 4th best SG in the league. Oh let’s not forget they got Ibaka at 24. Talk about winning the lotto. They won with 4 out of 5 picks

juslistinParticipantI most certainly have to agree that OKC won in the draft to be where they are today, but I agree that the drafting of Jeff Green was also a win, because they were able to trade him away to get a defensive presence in Perkins. OKC just shows that with good management and an organized well run re-building process, a team can become contenders within a few years. Other teams around the league should take note that who you select in the NBA draft, can mean the difference in becoming a contending franchise or a franchise who rides the bottom of the conference. If you think years back, the Seattle SuperSonics was a dying franchise, they had lost everything from their all time great in Gary Payton to Ray Allen as well as the arrival of Rashard Lewis. But after these mishaps they found a gem in Kevin Durant and that’s when it all started.

bobbybParticipantAnd dont forget Ibaka!! Many teams dont want to " waste " draft pics and on guys they cant use right away. The thunder being sucessful wasnt pure luck, it was a lot of planning

Real Talk Real TrophiesParticipantHaving Perkins on your team is not a win, he is garbage… rather play collison or dat dude Nazr. But KD35, Westy, and Harden are so good it doesnt matter
