the27guyParticipantI’ll give credit where it’s due, and state that I think Chad Ford is really good at his job. He’s good at finding out what other teams are doing, and he’s far from bad at predicting players success in the NBA but his recent comments about Dante Exum do not add up. I have not copied and pasted from the article because I don’t think I’m allowed to do that here, but look at the most recent chat and you’ll see this info in the top 10 questions of the chat.
When he was asked why the bucks like Exum more than Wiggins. He gave a response and confirmed that the Bucks like Exum more.
Then he was asked if the Bucks might move back with either Orlando or Utah and he said he would be shocked if the Bucks did that.
Then he stated that the Bucks, Sixers, and Magic are all interested and may take Exum.
Lastly, he stated that Exum is likely to fall to Utah at 5 (and that’s where he is in the Mock)
…..
These four comments do not add up. If the Bucks really do like Exum, and he is going to fall to 4 or 5, why on Earth would they not want to gain additional assets by trading back?
In other words, what would you rather have Milwaukee?
A) Dante Exum, Enes Kanter, and the 23 overall pick
or
B) Dante Exum?
I rest my case.

Lafferty DanielParticipantFord likes to hedge his bets. He can’t guarantee what a front office will decide, so he lays out various alternatives to cover his ass if/when his mock gets blown up by trades, misinformation, and Cleveland esque surprises.

the27guyParticipantProbably, but then why say something as clear as "I’d be shocked if they move back" when anyone can see why it makes sense IF Exum is their guy.

Lafferty DanielParticipantI haven’t read the chat transcript yet so I’m not sure. Lots of misinformation and smokescreens right now. Front offices have been known to leak info in order to create demand for trades, but yeah, seems like Ford is all over the place.

Magic JordanParticipantHe is essentially giving educated guesses based of information he is told at this point. I don’t think you should take Chad Ford chat transcripts or Insider articles as absolute law. I am sure GMS also feed him false information under the assumption that he will write about it thus further confusing other teams. GM’s and scouting departments have no incentive to feed Chad Ford 100% accurate information, it is much better to hold your cards close to your chest.
So say Exum is the Bucks guy, do you honestly think they would tell Chad Ford and let him proclaim to the world that this is true? So say they trade down with Utah and then a team like the Magic takes Exum just to hold him hostage to the Bucks to demand additional assets? That is why trading down 3 spots from the #2 spot to target 1 specific player doesn’t make much sense. It makes sense if you are comfortable with ANY of the guys in that range but not to target one specific player, especially with someone who’s stock is as volatile as Exum.

mixtape2003ParticipantYea those comments was all over the place, but I think the Bucks would move back in they really want Exum only if he falls past Orlando. I would not do before the draft or Orlando picks, just wait and get Parker at 2 and you have more leverage with Utah cause IMO thats who they really want in the draft.

Memphis MadnessParticipantTranslation: The Bucks want to move down to 4. Get one of the Big Four (Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Exum), AND other assets from Orlando like the 12th pick and Moe Harkless or something.
Orlando gets: 2, 31, and 36.
Bucks get 4, 12, Moe Harkless, and cash.

Lotto StudParticipantIf I’m Orlando, I’d gladly decline the proposal.

AstroParticipantGet Jabari or Wiggins or Embiid at #4?
Sweet. Plus get Tyler Ennis or Elfrid Payton at 12 and you’re ballin’.

drk3351ParticipantNo because they really want Embiid or Parker at 2. So why they may consider Exum, moving back woould be surprising because they want Parker or Embiid.
