JordansBullsParticipantThe Boston Celtics lost the first game of the NBA’s preseason Friday, 97-91 to Turkish team Fenerbahce Ulker.
First-round draft pick Jared Sullinger and Jeff Green scored 16 points each, but the Celtics paid the price for a weak second quarter, getting outscored 29-18.
Rajon Rondo had 13 points and nine assists, while Jason Terry, one of a handful of new players on the roster, scored 12.
However, 25 turnovers showed there’s work to be done before the Celtics’ next exhibition game Sunday in Milan, against Emporio Armani.
The team returns to Boston on Monday and resumes practice on Oct. 11 before playing its first U.S. preseason game against the Knicks in Hartford, Conn., two days later.

For_Never_EverParticipantDon’t put too much thought into the loss. The Celtics were in practice mode and trying things out, while the Turkish team likely went all out.

joshinator1ParticipantBo McCalebb, the star of the Macedonian National Basketball team, and David Andersen, former Raptor, were both on the Turkish team, I was really hoping after their performance in the Olympic qualifiers and Olympics that some team would have picked them up. Maybe next season.

omphalosParticipantJeff Green looked great though, he drove with aggression, showed hops and looked a lot quicker than he was. The little leprechaun in me is getting very excited about the upcoming season, so much great energy and youth on board. I can’t wait for the new season!

Jr. ROXASParticipantim surprised they didn’t give dionte christmas some minutes. I believe he proved that he belongs to the nba with his performances in the summer league but instead they gave jamar smith who kept on clanking threes the backup pg minutes..

Anton123ParticipantAm I the only one who’s surprised by Darko’s final statline? It says he has 0 steals and 0 assists, I’m sure he had like three of both. He kept making great outlet passes all game

omphalosParticipantAs far as I’m aware they don’t count outlet passes as assists, if the pass comes in the backcourt then it’s not an assist, I think it happened a couple of seasons back where a player made an inbounds pass into the backcourt and the receiver made a shot from beyond half-court, but it wasn’t counted as an assist. Can’t remember who it was though.
Seriously though, I love Darko being on our team, Garnett is the perfect mentor for any aspiring big man, especially one who struggles with motivation like Milicic. Hopefully his work ethic will rub off on Darko before he retires.
