BajeebzParticipantBoth Chris Broussard and Brian Windhorst have reported that Cleveland has no intention to include Andrew Wiggins in a trade for Kevin Love. Wiggins will play tonight in Las Vegas.
Now, I sort of expected this, but the Cavs first offer of Waiters, Bennett, and pick was just bogus. It’s time for Flip to draw a line in the sand: No Wiggins, no trade.
I believe Flip should take the Mel Gibson in Braveheart approach. This scene explains what I mean:

SpartanGloryParticipantThe Wolves can wait up until the trade deadline to make a deal. If the Cavs don’t include Wiggins, the Wolves should wait it out for a better offer, or until Cleveland cracks. If it gets close to the trade deadline and Cleveland isn’t looking like a championship calibur team, you can bet they’ll be rethinking their position on Wiggins.

doubledribblerParticipantWhat is the best offer that Minnesota is going to get? They are in a bad place…star player that can and will walk. No contending team wants to give up a piece that they think is going to knock them out of contending and not sure he is willing to extend with any of the bad teams. They had way more leverage last year. Personally I think they should look at getting rid of Kevin Martin’s contract if possible and getting somebody or picks with potential.

220ParticipantAgreed, they want Klay Thompson and the Warriors said no and if they want Andrew Wiggins then the Cavs will say no. So either the Timberwolves will take less than they believe Kevin Love is worth or after this season they’ll likely lose him for nothing.

HitsterParticipantI don’t see the Cavs giving up Wiggins as I wonder whether LeBron looked at the youngstes there and thought this team can have a much longer shelf life than if I recommit to Miami. Also Wiggins will be on a rookie deal so won’t take up the salary an experienced superstar would.
The Cavs with LeBron will be a likely 50 win plus team maybe more if Wiggins is as good as we think he is and LeBron already has his titles so he would not be pressurising Cleveland to become totally win now.
Cleveland still have several draft picks due to them so can keep the high pick young core if they want to make trades and will now be able to add a top veteran FA or two to give the bench depth.

thunderjerkParticipantWhy would the Cavs give up Wiggins when they can wait until next offseason to sign Love outright? Give up Bennett and Dion, their first and Miami’s first.

NeggedNoelSaricyeah they will have 10 million plus cap room next season then if they move bennet and a bench warmer ,if the cap increases , you can sign him outright.
they might as well wait.

HitsterParticipantAs Love’s contract runs down and if he indicates he’ll be opting out and probably moving on then the T-Wolves bargaining position weakens and that of any chasing team strengthens come early 2015 and towards the trade deadline.
Plus it gives the Cavs a chance to see how LeBron and the high pick kids are doing.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThe Cavs should get Ray Allen for outside shooting and leadership and Pau Gasol for inside scoring and rebounding. And maybe Rashard Lewis as a stretch four shooter.

TyroberParticipantI would be willing to put Thompson, Waiters, Bennett, and a ton of draft picks on the table and ask what it would take to get it done. I am not saying give all of that, but I would do what it takes to keep Wiggins. Kevin Love is a great fit next to LeBron, but in 2-3 years how good could a core of LeBron, Irving, Wiggins, Waiters, Thompson, and Bennett be? I get the reason why they would want to win now, but I am not sure if a Kevin Love trade is the best long term move… especially if it costs them Wiggins and two of Thompson, Waiters, or Bennet.

BlueLacesParticipantIn 2-3 years, how good could a core of Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James be? You could have 3 top players at their position on the same roster. I am not saying this because I am a T’Wolves fan, but if Cleveland refuses to include Andrew Wiggins in order to get Kevin Love, they are dumb.

joe2324Participantwe don’t know how good bennett can be especially with a new coach and being in better shape. Kyrie, Lebron, Wiggins, Waiters, Thompson etc… with Bennett being a wildcard. Not saying Bennett is going to put up Kevin love numbers, but what if he puts up 20/10 numbers? Also, keep in mind, the Cavs are due some draft picks. If the heat are real bad in 2015 and 2016, the Cavs wont get that pick, but it is unprotected in 2017 and that could be a deep draft class.
I think they should add small pieces like ray allen, mike miller and they can easily come out of the EAST and go to the finals.

burgessfourParticipantI think the Cavs should hold tight with what they have except for maybe adding a Center. If they have to have Love I would offer Bennett, Thompson, Waitors and all 3 1’s from 2015 for Love and Dieng. That would leave Lebron, Love, Kyrie, Wiggins, Dieng, Varejo, and not much else. Maybe that’s too much, maybe it’s not enough, but I just wouldn’t give up Wiggins.

BlueLacesParticipantEveryone’s opinions on who should go here and there aside, there is a strong possibility we will be able to watch Love to LeBron outlet passes for the next 3-4 years. That alone should have everyone excited.

bmac697ParticipantI think trade of Bennett waiters and first maybe couple round picks gets it done. Love has said he’s not signing and extension, so besides golden states offer of lee Barnes green and first your probably not going to find better deal. There’s no way Cleveland trades wiggins, I’m sure that number one pick was big part in Lebron returning. I always feel lottery is rigged, maybe nba had feeling Lebron would return too.

NeggedNoelSarictimberwolves fans just want wiggins.
it makes no sense to trade anything for love right now unless its andy v and bennet.
sorry to burst your bubble if you don’t complete a trade WOLVES ARE GOING TO WATCH HIM WALK FOR NOTHING AT ALL.I hope you guys get nothing back for being greedy you want the world for a player the other team can outright sign after being told this you still say no deal if Wiggins not involved. That’s ignorant to the facts we weren’t sure if LeBron would be a cav next season but we are all sure!!!!!!! love wont re-sign to be a wolf.
we have watched the rockets get the short end of the stick with calculated moves this offseason.
Theirs nothing calculated about starting a season next year with love on the roster because as the season goes on its only a select few teams he would resign with then its only one team that doesn’t have to trade its key players to get him and that’s the cavs. theirs no leverage warriors would have to give up klay and lee , rockets would have to give up parson which they would do but its still a major piece to a person who may not want to resign in the wild west.
they have little liverage hes not signing to a rebuilding team he wants no part of a rebuild or retool.
cavs are funny because they are rebuilding and competing for a championship at the same time in he easy east where LeBron lead his team to the finals 4 years straight with older players. this is loves ideal fit why would he want to strip the team he wants to play for of any assets that can help him win when he can just sign there. why do you think the cavs don’t know this.

Ghost01ParticipantThe problem is, there is no guarantee Love’s preference across all teams is to go to the Cavs. If it was presented to him, in a trade, he’d accept it, but if hes a UFA, there are a number of teams he could prefer.
You are also running the risk at any moment Golden State swoops in with a legitimate offer and grabs him.
