CavFanPRParticipantLandry didn’t find any confidence since leaving the Maloof era, he’s getting paid like a freaking all star. Four year 27 million? That’s crazy!! Almost 7 million a year for four seasons. wow

220ParticipantThat’s surprising that Landry would want to go to Sacramento since there is so much competition at the power forward spot.

KayjayParticipanthttp://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9454937/carl-landry-sacramento-kings-four-years-27m-agent-says
Carl Landry has agreed to terms with the Sacramento Kings on a four-year, $27 million deal, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, announced.
Landry had opted out of the final year of his two-year, $8 million deal with the Golden State Warriors in late June to become a free agent.
The 29-year-old Landry averaged 10.8 points and six rebounds in 23.2 minutes off the bench last season.
Two things…
I think Landry has a new found confidence since last leaving the Maloof era.
And I think this means Patrick Patterson will now start next to Cousins while Jason Thompson comes off the bench as the back up center to Cousins. I actually prefer this way, at times it really seemed like Thompson would get in DMC’s way a lot of the time. And stretching the floor with P-Pat would keep Cousin’s out of double teams.

rickyD510ParticipantDMC and Patterson with JT and Landry off the bench is a pretty deep front court but we still need a sf!!….and what to do with chuck Hayes??

KayjayParticipantI’m waiting for a small forward to be signed any day now. Though I’d prefer if we traded for one by getting rid of either Thornton or Jimmer or Salmons.

rickyD510ParticipantYeah I’d prefer those to get traded as well, but I don’t know how movable throton and salmons contracts are.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantTo be honest, Patrick Patterson and Carl Landry are pretty much the same player. Not only that but now the Kings are paying 13mil a year (the next 4 years) for two back-up bigs. It’s going to be interesting to see what they do next offseason when Cousins/Patterson’s contracts expire.

LipstickParticipantLots of role players this summer are getting paid $5+ million for the next 4 years. Feels pretty crazy to me, both the extra million or two and the year amount.

CavFanPRParticipantIt’s not a horrible signing and they are a playoff team now.
Vazquez / Thomas / McCallum
McLemore / McCallum
Salmons
Thompson / Landry
CousinsPretty nice lineup

LipstickParticipantWho do have in the top 8 in the West as of right now?
0- Posted on: Sat, 07/06/2013 - 11:34am #815154

Ghost01Participant1. Spurs
2. Thunder
3. Clippers
4. Rockets
5. Warriors
6. Grizz
7. NuggetsObviously that is the top 7 in some order…the rest:
Pelicans: Obvious upside to improve, but 8 seed may be a stretch
Mavs: Not unless they make some serious moves here
Jazz: Look like a team bottoming out
Lakers: Should be a team bottoming out
Suns: A team that is bottomed out
Blazers: Improved their depth with Tom Rob, R Lopez, CJ McCullum, and Dorrell Wright. Playoffs may be a stretch though.
T Wolves: My honest pick for the 8 seed. Reliant on Pekovic being resigned and Love and Rubio staying healthy. A lot of IFs
Kings: A Wildcard. Won’t be the worst team in the West, but not sure if they can actually be that much better with the acquisitions they have made.0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/06/2013 - 11:34am #815225

Ghost01ParticipantThe Kings have gotten better. I have to give them that much. New ownership, front office leadership, and coaching. Hopefully things turn around for them like they could.

kazamParticipantI don’t understand what some teams are thinking in Free Agency this year.
Igoudala to the Warriors confuses me. I get that he is a great defender. Unless theyre intending to play small often with him or Harrison at the 4 I figure he will stunt the growth and minutes that should be going to Klay and Harrison
Smith to the Pistons boggles my mind. I dont know what Joe Dumars sees as their potential style of play. Josh Smith also isnt the kind of work ethic, attitude I would want around an impressionable yet talented 20yo named Andre Drummond
I dont like the Landry signing. What does he do that the abundance of other power forwards they have cant? He and Patterson as has been mentioned in this forum are fairly redundant.
Lastly, I understnad maybe why Dwight went to Houston. Hakeem, Mchale, Harden and Parsons… But did he see the rest of the roster? Does he think he and Asik can coexist? Does he think a non shooter at the 1 is a good recipe? I’m just not sure about that one yet. Maybe he and the rockets prove me wrong!

220ParticipantI almost completely agree with you. I find the Igoudala, Smith, and Landry signings as odd and ill fitting for each of the teams. Igoudala and Smith especially because it seems like it will hinder the development of Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, and Andre Drummond.
I also agree that the remainder of Houston’s roster is far from spectacular. I think Houston was Howard’s best situation to win and not need a sign and trade to get to the team. If Howard is smart then he must see the quick transformation the Rockets have made and figures they can continue improving. Plus Houston still has a slew of young big men they can trade to fill some of their gaps if they feel the need.
