ag-pennypackerParticipantRodney Purvis looks like he has a lot of physical ability and if people saw him as a point guard he’d probably higher on the draftboards for the 2012 high school class 2012. He has said previously that he wants to play PG, and he looks to have enough quickness, handle, and athleticicsm but does he have the vision to play point. He’s a little short for a SG at 6’3" – 6’4" so his ceiling is lower there. What you guys think can does he have the abillity to play PG? Has anyone seen him play an entire game?

ALoritts13ParticipantTo Me he’s more stronger and a better defensive player then the average PG so SG looks like his best fit you know like a dwayne wade type.

WizardofOzParticipantI’ve never seen him play a full game, so I can’t give my full opinion, but going going by all the highlight videos I’ve seen, he looks very aggressive and many people have said that he has a scorer’s mentality. He’s sounds much more like a SG. Seems like another Austin Rivers situation.

hiphopismylifeParticipantHe certainly has the athletic tools for the point. Coming out of the Raleigh area, people wanted to make the John Wall comparison early on but hes evolved now to being closer to a two guard who likes the ball in his hands. A young Wade is a pretty good comparison, as they are similar size, are relentless attacking the rim with a speed/strength combination, and need added range, especially off the catch.
It will come down to his college choice and what he’s able to prove there. Trying to make him a pure distributor would be a mistake because you wouldn’t want to shackle that aggressiveness he uses to attack the paint.
He seems headed down that typical "playmaking 2-guard" road. I like him as a 2 who can create with his scoring, and sadly it may come down to a matter of an inch or two with how he measures out that decides his draft stock. Production is also a key for guys like that, as it helps offset the nitpicking of the draft process. If he can be a star from day one, he’ll go high.

cward23ParticipantReminds me of another player who played in this area (Flip Murray) but probably better at the same stage. He will pretty much(IMO) always be considered a combo guard because he is such a good scorer
