JRdaFilipinoParticipantOkay I know he is playing on a terrible team, and I know that their record reflects that… but … ABOUT FREAKIN TIME, DARKO.
On the season he is averaging 9 PPG, 6 RPG and just under 3 BPG.
over the last 5 games: 17.4 points 8.6 rebounds 3.4 assists and 3.8 blocks!!!
I know it seems like im sucking him right now, but after years and years.. and years of waiting.. darko is FINALLY playing like I had always hoped… IDC what any of you say. to get that kind of stat line for 5 consecutive games is impressive. very impressive. I actually im not shocked about his production bcoz ive always felt he could put up those kind of numbers if given the minutes.. im more shocked that nobody is really noticing (on forum i mean) anyways.. congrats Darko Milicic and keep it up!

esperanzafleet69Participanti agree symbol… coming from detroit, i hate darko… somebody else posted a topic like this a few weeks ago and gave me a thumbs down when i said that…when he had a stretch of 3 good 20pt games(literally probably the best of his career)… which has now passed….
3 games is hardly enough to give darko credit for anything…

ChrischiParticipantJust as I said in the other thread. His numbers are worse when you look closer. He is averaging 3.3 PF which explains why his blocks are so high. He is averaging 2.4 TO in only 27mpg. Adding to this he is only shooting 42%, which is extremely poor for a 7 footer. His Eff is also pretty low with 12,2.
Right now he is still not worth his 5mil.
If he’s able to lift his numbers to a consistent 10-8-2 with 2 assists in 3xmpg with less foul trouble, then he is probably worth his money. If…

HitsterParticipantDarko has been solid this season but how many false dawns has he had, I need to see this level of form over a whole season before I can be convinced and nobody in Detroit ever will be as that draft pick is probably hurting them now more than they ever thought it would in the good years from 2003 to 2008.

JRdaFilipinoParticipantDamn guys, whats with all the negativity. all im saying is. Darko is finally getting consistent starter mintutes, an despite his high # of TOs, the numbers he has been putting up are (and you cant deny) impressive. obviously, this is a young season.. but Darko is already on of the league leaders in blocks.. im not the biggest darko fan but i am happy for him.. and detroit fans, get over it.. oh and its been 18 games, not 3.. to lead the NBA in blocks after almost 1/4 the season over gys like josh smith dwight howard, etc. come on give the guy some credit

PureshooterParticipantI don’t understand why Detroit fans hate him. He was only 18 when he came into the league and only played 96 games with Detroit averaging around 5 mpg, during which Detroit won a title. The guy didn’t draft himself. You should hate on Dumars more than anything else.

SwatLakeCityParticipantKahn compared him to Vlade Divac. That was a sad day in sports, and he will never live up to that potential. Yeah, hes playing great right now, but overtime those averages will start to go down to what he was averaging earlier (9-10 pts 6 boards and 2 blocks) Still good for a starter but definitely for a second pick right behind Lebron and ahead of Melo. If Darko really living up to his height, he would need to playing like Dwight Howard. The reason why I am saying this is because he was picked right behind a future legend (Lebron) and ahead of a big time scorer that plays alot like Durant. (Melo) Its not just that he was picked #2 its that it was behind Lebron, and ahead of Melo.
Guys can average great numbers like that for 5 or 6 games easily. The really good players do it every game. Darko is not there yet and nor will he ever be.

JoeWolf1This is the first time I’ve seen that a top pick who was pretty much considered a bust by just about everyone has revived their career after playing in the leauge for 7 years. IF ( and thats a big if) he continues to get better like he has done this season, and can help the T-Wolves win a few games over his 5 year contract he might just shake the bust label completely.

JRdaFilipinoParticipantAnd chrischi.
The point you bring up and his blocks and fouls…
are you kidding me?? Just about any good shot blocker gets at least 3 fouls per game. Has there ever been a league leading shot blocker who hasn’t averaged a relatively high amount of fouls??? wow, that reasoning is absurd. If you don’t like Darko then just say so instead of saying something like that.
Oh, Dwight Howard averages 2.4 blocks per game.. but thats only coz he averages 3.4 fouls a game.
Josh Smith who averages 2.3 blocks for his CAREER also averages 3.0 fouls a game.
They each average 3 fouls a game just like Darko, so.. thats why their blocks are so high….. nice one.
Think of how many possessions there are in a game. These guys block shots. As great as a shot blocker may be, he is still going to get quite a lot of fouls. Now im not saying Darko is the best shot blocker in the league, but damn, what a poor excuse just to hate on Darko.

SwatLakeCityParticipantExactly PhxSuns6. The only way Darko can live up to his potential is if he starts playing like Amare because of where he was drafted. (Behind Lebron and ahead of Melo) And as we all know that will never happen. He’s just not that kind of player.

NarcParticipantLet me just say for the record that Kobe could drop 81 for 4 straight games, and still not get the attention that Darko has gotten for his recent stretch of games. He’s had about 5 good games in a row, until he puts up a good stretch for the season, then I’m not jumping on the bandwagon.
