llperezI said during the preseason that i thought lamar was playing as well as any laker. 3 games in, and kobe and pau have retaken their top 2 spots on the team, but LO is not far off at 3rd. He is averaging 16ppg…13.7rpg…3.3apg and most importantly, shooting 68% from the field and all in 34 minutes. I think the world championships really helped get him in shape and going full speed to start the season. Is this the year that he finally makes an all-star team? Keep in mind that the coaches who vote love to award guys from winning teams and the lakers are looking phenomanal right now and could be 1st in the whole NBA come all-star break. So do you guys like his chances.

HaleParticipantWhat forwards do you think will make it perez? Their are so many talented ones in the west, but if Odom keeps this up he definitely deserves to be an All Star. But to keep up that production for more 40-50 will be hard as hell.

llperezi agree, there are so many forwards in the west that i do not expect him to make it at this point. But honestly, i f he can keep up this level of play, he might just flat out outplay some of these other forwards and earn it. They usually take 5 big men. You have to figure pau, dirk and duncan are pretty much locks. Yao will very likely get voted in. That leaves one spot and i dont think there are any other big men in the west that LO cant out play if he keeps this up.

stanford hoopsI would love for him to make it and it’s very possible that he can make it. There’s one more contender who’s been doing his thing out here in Utah. Paul milsap

RUDEBOY_ParticipantGriffin has to have the Clippers among the league’s best teams record wise..but he has so many allstar caliber forwards in the west..

MelParticipantI think what keeps Lamar from being great is himself.
He was asked something about him being able to do this and that on the court and his potential, etc. and he basically said he doesnt have to do all those things. He has a rare combination of size and skill and he said he did not maximize his talents because he doesnt have to. That has always baffled me because as a player I thought you would want to bring all you could to your team.
I understand that the Lakers are already talented, but you mean to tell me you’re satisfied with being consistently INCONSISTENT. That sucks. He had the potential to be a Scottie to Kobe’s Mike but he never pushed himself.
He is a good player. I just think he could have been great.

SteroidParticipantIf Lamar keeps it up, he can make it. He is in the spotlight right now.
When you watch him play sometimes, it is just crazy to think that Lamar hasn’t made an all-star team before…

PlatypusParticipantForwards in the west he has to compete with
Durant, Dirk, Pau, Kevin Love, David Lee, Gay, Hedo (someone has to take Stoudamires shots), David West, and Timmy
also Mello could still be there and be traded at the deadline

Mr. 19134ParticipantYou guys are forgetting that fans do a lot of the voting. Iverson was voter an all star starter last year.
Odom has a better chance then any because his status is higher then it ever was. He has gotten a lot of publicity from back to back titles and a summer at the Worlds.
Also Blake Griffin does have a nice shot at filling in the forward spot Amare left open because he is a dunking and rebounding machine. Fans love him.
David Lee got a shot too.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIF he keeps up his play, I don’t see why the coaches wouldn’t vote him in as a reserve.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah Odom has never been the most consistent player especially on the Lakers because he don’t need to be. His numbers will come back average out to around 15 and 11 most likely. He is gonna continue to be a great rebounder tho but there are too many forwards in the West. Ron Artest didn’t make the All Star team last year and he had very good numbers.
