McDunkinWhat kind of potential does he have?
I read people comparing him to Dirk before last season started and(outside of the Maui Invitational and WCC Tournament) I didnt get to see much of him last year. From what i did see he is a nice passer and pretty mobile but didnt look that great on d against other bigmen and he didnt make many of the long range jumpers he took. I honestly see Harris moving back to the 4 before to long so i dont know what that will do for his playing time again this year
I wish Matt Bonner was around so i could ask him.

PureshooterParticipantI don’t see Dirk as much as I see Van Horn. I think people need to go back and look at early tapes of Dirk when he was first coming into the league before they start making these kind of comparisons. Dirk was a very rare type of player.

JNixonParticipantHe can be like Austin Daye probably. That’s not saying much though, since Daye was in and out of the Pistons rotation, and since he’s just going into his 2nd year. He plays like Austin Daye though, except he’s even more raw at the same stage. He does have nice size though, as a 6’9/6’10 swingman who can operate on the wing. I always like those kind of players.

JNixonParticipantIt would probably be in 2013, or whenever he graduates, but yes. I think he’s a true SF.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThe Austin Daye comparisons are accurate. He also plays a little like Kyle Singler.
He looks to have about the same if not slightly better athleticism then them players.
He’s listed at 7’0 238 but I don’t see it. He looks a legit 6’10 tho and will be a wing player in the NBA unless he bulks up considerable then I think his rebounding ability, and shot blocking potential will enable him to play in the high post.
He got the looks and profile of a lottery pick he just needs to get more production. But Austin Daye went 16th without lighting the world on fire himself.

kanyedabestParticipantjnixon is correct as a huge gonzaga fan he is essentially a austin daye 2.0 except w/ the ability to gain more weight…. heading into sophmore yr daye was way ahead of the learning curve in comparison

Demarcus OnealParticipantKelly Olynk will not be a lottery pick even as a Canadian I cannot dream that, he is a good servicable player possibly in the league but not a lottery pick maybe second rounder at best.

Mr. 19134ParticipantWhy do you think he don’t have the potential to be a lotto pick?
I’m assuming you saw him play more then me because he barely got off the bench last year at Gonzaga but coming out of high school I thought he was going to be an impact player.
The kid got length, a nice basktball IQ. and can really shoot. In college basketball with all the zone a lot of teams play he can be a zone buster this year shooting over the top of the defense. And his combo of size and skill should give him enough space to score on opponents in a one on one setting.
Does anybody know his real height? If he is really close to 7 foot he is def a lotto prospect because that sort of size combined with that sort of skill is extremely rare. Daye himself is a rare Durant type body. Noticed I said body and not player. Because Daye is a legit 6’11 with a mammoth wingspan.

moochieeParticipantKelly is at least 6’11 now, he has been growing over the past year. I don’t know about lotto pick, but I think he will get drafted. He’s shown a lot of improvement in the offseason, playing in the FIBA world championships and being arguably one of Canada’s best players. Also he has bulked up a bit so I think he will be able to go into the post more this season and not get pushed around. I am certain he won’t declare after this year unless he absolutely blows up, but once Elias Harris leaves after this year, he should get the starting job and could even end up being their go to guy. The kid is really savvy and I think he is going to put up some big number in the years to come. I see him being more of a PF to be honest though, I think he doesn’t have quick enough feet to guard elite wing players, but could be a good mobile big man with the ability to take opposing PF’s off the dribble.

JNixonParticipantYeah I seriously doubt he goes in the lottery, but he could get drafted though by the time he exhausts eligibility.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThis obviously all depends on his development and work ethic. If he has a great work ethic and becomes a deadly shooter from 3 and develops and a nice low post game. He could be a sleeper. If not he could be Plumlee.
