Hawks fan here, and I know I may be delusional but do you think Minnesota would like the idea of replacing Love with Horford? Love is better offensively but Horford brings offense, defense and not the attitude of a player to ever demand a trade. I also think placing him next to a center in Pek, he can make the jump Aldridge made this past season and Wolves remain competitive. Wolves also has been rumored to want to shed Kevin Martin.

This is where the Hawks come in, we can give them Horford while absorbing Martin’s contract.

Wolves: Horford, Bennett, Cavs 2015 pick, future Hawks Pick

    Cavs: Love, DeMarr Carroll

    Hawks: Wiggins, Martin

Cavs gives up the same assets they’ve been rumored to offer, while getting Love and  a strong defensive backup sf for James in Carroll.

Wolves get Bennett and a Cavs pick, but instead of Wiggins, they get Horford, a Hawks pick and shed Martin’s contract. They still have a competitive team with young guys with potential.

Hawks get Wiggins and Martin. Again I’m a Hawks fan and we take a step back, but our future is bright with potentially finally having a franchise caliber player, our first since Nique. With Teague-Martin-Milsap, we are still competitive enough in the East.

Does this look good or am I a delusional guy?

Wolves wouldn’t be able to explain giving up love and not ending up with wiggins

I think for the Wolves if they trade Love it is Klay Thompson or Wiggins or bust…

It is easy to say Wiggins/Thompson or bust, but the Wolves are in an impossible situation.  The longer they wait to pull the trigger on a deal, the less leverage they will have (Love’s 2015 free agency gets closer every day). If they cannot deal him for something of value, they will almost certainly lose him for nothing.  The Cavs, Warriors, and every other team know this, and aren’t in a rush to give up a high quality young asset.  Unless the Cavs are in a rush to win, they won’t deal Wiggins.  The Warriors seem to have even more reports backing their insistence that Thompson is untouchable.  I think Minny will ultimately receive neither of those players in a deal.

then I think they start the season with Love, and see if they can change his mind. The worst that happens is that they let him go at the end of the season for cap space, which is better than taking back bad contracts (like Lee). We don’t really know who has been offered to whom, or exactly what discussions take place.

As far as the OP’s original post, no I don’t think the Wolves would go for that deal. I would think that Wiggins would interest Minnesota a lot more than Horford would, so if there is a Minn-Cleveland trade, Wiggins will be a Wolve and not going somewhere else.

Then good luck to Cleveland and GS as they don’t make it past the second round.

First off, Kevin love never demanded a trade and to negatively connotate the Kevin love in this situation is Unfounded and irrational. Kevin love is a class act. Him telling the organization that he doesn’t plan on resigning this far ahead of his contract year, is definitely a positive for the wolves organization. Had he not, they wouldn’t get anything whatsoever out of him, he’d walk and the wolves and their fan base would be devastated. To chastise love for doing the right thing, is egregious. Also Horford has reached his ceiling. He has a well respected all around game and he will get his stats regardless of where he plays. But that’s gonna be Atlanta barring something unforeseen and crazy. But as stated above, the wolves aren’t gettin rid of love without Thompson or wiggins in return. Al horford doesn’t have the clout he used, he’s coming off an injury and he will be starting to decline sooner than later. Unfortunately, he’s been a standup guy and stat stuffer his whole career without having ever played in a lineup that had a serious chance to contend.

I feel like nobody gives up anything for love we have watched the best players in the league leave good situations (LeBron, howard, iggy, lance) as of late.

watched first take this morning and I agree in the feeling that  love is worth more then a unproven wiggins, bennet and a pick. we all can agree  that minn wants a kings ransom problem is they should have been traded him now they are losing leverage.  I think no one pulls  a last min deal at the deadline for love you want to go into the playoffs a cohesive unit not to many teams won a ship after trading allstars at the dead line. lakers got to the finals and lost knicks flamed out after a gutted roster two most recent teams.

let the wolves drown themselves  into a mid lottery selection and no kevin love  the next season.

I was looking at numbers don’t lie they pulled up  a stat they showed wolves where better overall before kevin love joined and put up lesser wins with him on the roster since wish I could pull up the stats.

I don’t see anybody pulling off a deal for love they want to much… and if they don’t budge teams are going to just try to acquire him through sign and trades with other teams in the offseason . wolves hold no leverage  anymore.

That’s wishful thinking on your part. Minnesota won’t deal Love unless they get Wiggins. I’m not sure the Cavs will be interested in sending Wiggins to Atlanta while only receiving a career journeyman (albeit a good one) in Carroll.

If Wiggins is involved, the Wolves are going young. The only way the Hawks get involved is if they send some young talent like Dennis Schroeder. For him they wouldn’t get Wiggins or Bennett, but the Cavs have a lot to offer (that could end up in Minny).
