valentinethis is a much better pickup then some people realize. camby right now is better then both oden and prizbilla was before they got hurt, with a better basketball iq and more range on his jumper. with everyone healthy (excluding priz and oden) this team should be a nice force

quinceyhodgeshey as long as that ugly thing goes in thats all that matters..lol..remeber reggie miller or if you are old enough, micheal adams??..yeah he is a very good passer. id put him behind shaq as far as passing. im sure there are other centers but i cant think of any right now

DanEboyParticipantCamby can score. He does get most of his points from tip ins but the Clippers didn’t run any offensive plays for him. I watched a couple of Clippers game this year and they ran zero plays for him. He had to get his own. The guy is as elite as they come when it comes to defense and is a true professional.

DanEboyParticipantBig Z is a very good passer too. And Noah is a smart passer if you watch him play.

quinceyhodgesyeah big z….also okur…seems every center that can shoot is a good passer

i_beast_CODParticipantDavid Lee leads all centers at assists this season 🙂

quinceyhodgesyeah but he’s not the best passer.. you gotta look beyond the numbers sometimes
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 1:15pm #256852

DanEboyParticipantLee is a good passer but I just don’t look at him as a true center.

kurtu17Participantyeah a passing center is somthin truely underrated…i all the greats had that ability…more centers should def practice their passing…i heard someone on espn or maybe it was this site where they said they should have a skill challenge for the big man…that would be nice and funny…

sheltwon3ParticipantBogut was a great passer in college but I dont know if he translated that to the NBA.

quinceyhodgeshe’s sill a pretty good passer. at least he has been in the bucks games ive seen
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 2:17pm #256871

llperezi would say sabonis and divac are the two best passing centers i have seen.
As for this trade, it defenitely helps portland this year. Camby can help down low and the blazers can now think about being compaetitive in the playoffs again and trying to advance.

Mr. BasketballParticipantNo duh this is a very good pickup. He is a VERY GOOD player and is extremely underrated. From watching him every day, I think he is definitely a better player than kaman this year. It sounds stupid and I’ll get negatives for this, but I know this because I actually watch all their games. He is the only clipper who plays hard all game, every game. He is an absolute vacuum on the boards and is the best in the NBA at tipping misses in. He also is a underrated shooter who can occasionally knock 3s at the end of quarters. Also, he is one hell of a passer as some of you have already stated. And don’t worry about his age, he has actually gotten better with age whether the stats indicate that or not. He is a pro’s pro on and off the court and is a great mentor. Clippers got murdered in this trade, Congrats Portland.

IndianaBasketballParticipantClippers you’re right… I just found out about the trade. The Clippers got murdered in this trade. I think they could’ve gotten back more for Camby… More than a backup point guard and an injured small forward…
This was an absolute no brainer pickup for the Blazers. You’re also right about Camby. I too watched every one of the Clippers’ games and he played hard all the time. He takes a couple of dumb jumpshots here and there, but he never stops hustling. He’s STILL one of the best rebounders and defenders in the league. This was a GREAT pickup by Portland. They now have a center who’ll rebound, play D and not really require touches on offense. Great move. They also clear up minutes for Bayless and avoid future problems with PT by having three small forwards in Webster, Batum and Outlaw.

Striver347ParticipantAn amazing talent who benefits as Camby’s minutes goes to him. Outlaw is very underrated as is Blake. Clipper fans will see. They got equal value as Jordan gets minutes and the Clippers get a true SF and a very solid backup PG. Bayless gets more minutes, and Portland have an insane front court when healthy. The trade benefits either side.

knicksfan7ParticipantI have always been a huge Camby fan from his knicks days I was upset when the nuggets treated him badly. Though he’s moved on. He’s going to make Portland real good. I think Portland has made the best two underrated moves of the year, acquiring Camby and Andre Miller in the offseason.

quinceyhodgesnow hes a amazing talent?..ok realisticlly all jordan is right now is potential. not great not amazing just potential. other then his dunks no one really has every said awhole lot about him. his athletic ability gets him his potential title because his skills are sub par right now and without the athletic ability no one would even talk about him. dont expect too much this year. o remeber he was getting many minutes during the season earlier and had a pretty good game but after that came back down to earth

LazarusMunozParticipantPau Gasol…Portalnd fans will be very happy with Camby! He will add additional leadership right away to what he brings on the court…The dude plays hard every minute he’s in the game and he can fill up a stat sheet, get 8 or 9 points with 17,18 rebounds and around 5 assits…he’s had a few games like that this year
On a side note..i hope this means more minutes for DeAndre…he really need to get big time minutes like Oden to learn on the job
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 5:24pm #256936
quinceyhodgesgood move..would make no sense to have them on the court at the same time. neither can guard pf and jordan can shoot out side of 3inchs from the basket. and oden was more prepared and a much much better player thats why he got the one the job training.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 5:26pm #256932

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Outlaw is overrated. He’s a great athlete and very good scorer, especially down the stretch, but… Two things stand out. He’s 6′ 9″ and he does NOT rebound. He also doesn’t play D.
By the way… Smith is starting for Jordan. The coach said Kaman and Jordan won’t be on the court at the same time.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 5:28pm #256938

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m assuming that the Clippers plan on playing Jordan big minutes during the 2nd half of the season. They told every team that asked about DeAndre Jordan that he wasn’t available.

Striver347ParticipantExplain to me what Jerryd Bayless is? Talent or full of potential? Either is fine when describing him. Even more relevant, when describing DeAndre Jordan. He could potentially be an Andrew Bynum. Personally, I would kill for any player like that in terms of my Center. So please, cut the BS when saying he is just potential. Players like him don’t come around that often. In any case, who said anything about expecting much from him? I said he’ll have an increase in minutes not an outbreak. Obviously, he had more minutes earlier in the season to produce as such. And lastly, athletic ability in most cases is the main factor of great production. He has the athleticism to change things. To be a shotblocker and rebounder. I think he has great upside.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/16/2010 - 7:36pm #256968

IndianaBasketballParticipantQuincey isn’t a Jordan fan, so you’ll only hear negativity about Jordan from him. I’m pretty sure you’re going to get an argument since you said Jordan could potentially be an Andrew Bynum lol.
I’m a Jordan fan. He’s only 21 years old. I think he’s a talent. He has a lot to work on, but if he works as hard as he did last summer, I see no reason why he can’t reach his potential. I don’t see him as an Andrew Bynum. I see him as a generic version of Dwight Howard. A freak athlete big man who can dunk, rebound and block shots. He doesn’t have the offensive skill, hands or footwork that Bynum has and he never will.
He just needs to work on the little things. Running the floor and posting hard for the ball, defensive rotations/assignments and overall IQ. He also needs to develop a back to the basket game and work on his free-throws.

marcusfizer21ParticipantDeAndre is showing signs of excellence as he scored 14 points grabbed 11 boards and blocked 3 shots. Great game for him but not for the Clips overall… And Yes… I am a Jordan fan… I love how a freakish of an athlete he is and I love his athleticism and what he has to offer… I love his length and I love his potentials and upsides (plural form) because there are a lot for this kid to offer…
I see a Dwight Howard game in him and I also see a Steven Hunter (when given quality minutes)… He still a very raw version of Dwight but hey, the guy got some serious talent to show for the Clippers… He could be the biggest steal in the 2008 NBA Draft when it’s all said and done…
Quincey, you compare him all the time to Dan Gadzuric but I just think Gadzuric is a soft ass of a player… DeAndre’s got hops to show and he smacks anyone for a poster when given the opportunity and playing time…
