employee84Participant100% will be a one and done lottery pick. Going to be tough for owners to pass on adding Lebron and all the money that comes with that. Sold out arenas on a retirement tour, jerseys, etc. Doesn’t even matter if Bronny is good. The success rates on lottery picks these days is so low anyways. He might even go 1.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantFirst, let him have a year at USC. If he plays 25 minutes, averages 8 PPG, and shoots a decent percentage, he would be doing better than most 6’2″ freshmen guards who are in that top 100 ranked recruits but not one of “THE” guys. It is also possible that doesn’t happen. Isaiah Collier is regarded as one of the best freshmen in the country, and is also a guard. As someone who doesn’t watch much of high schoolers, Boogie Ellis has a similar profile to Bronny, but has 4-years of college ball under his belt already. He is about the same size, can shoot it, run the point a bit, and is just generally a pretty solid guard. Kobe Johnson is a returning starter who made great strides from year one-to-two. Also, with Ellis and Collier, it is possible USC wants a wing with a little more size to start. The other returning perimeter player is Oziyah Sellers who didn’t play a ton as a freshmen, but has that year of learning under his belt and a little more size. Up front, the return former 5-star Vincent Iwuchukwu who could very well come into form after his cardiac arrest last summer. Additionally, they have their returning starting center Joshua Morgan who might not cede that spot. Beyond that, they recruited Collier’s teammate Arrinten Page who was also highly regarded. The Trojans also brought in transfer DJ Rodman, brother of Trinity obviously, who had a more than solid season at Washington State last year. In a higher profile spot, it is possible he gets his name out there as a possible 3-and-D 2nd round prospect next summer. They also have a former HS teammate of Bronny in Kijani Wright, who was regarded similarly to Bronny when entering USC as a McDonalds All-American, but has struggled to get on the court the past two years. It would not be crazy if Bronny was the 4th perimeter option, and plays around 20 minutes per game. Freshmen, even talented ones, sometimes have a hard time adjusting to not starting, and having all the time they need or want on the court. It is harder for them to find a rhythm, have chemistry with the starters, and then their production doesn’t look all that great.
This is a long way to point out that while LeBron has said he wants to play with his son, it does not mean his son will be ready next year. Also, and this is just my speculation, LeBron has an 8-year old daughter, which means the entirety of her life’s memories and friends have been in southern California. Is she going to be keen on moving? His middle son is old enough to have memories of Cleveland, and having moved to LA, but will he want to move late in his high school years? Obviously, I would think the dream scenario for LeBron would be Bronny does great at USC and gets taken by the Lakers. Even if he isn’t great and still enters, Rich Paul was able to guide Chris Livingston to his preferred destination, which is something to remember as it could be precedent for how he handles Bronny. Still, the draft means any team with a pick has the right to choose. Are the James kids going to want to pack up and leave LA for OKC, Philadelphia, or Salt Lake City? I don’t know, and I don’t imagine a GM is going to like the possibility of drafting Bronny should he not appear ready to help an NBA team, and then see LeBron stay in LA.

HitsterParticipantWe have to see how Bronny progresses and in some ways playing with his Dad could be the worse thing that happens to him. He’ll never be as good as LBJ we all know that but if 40 year old LBJ is still way better than his kid then does it do Bronny any favours. I don’t see a team going all out to get Brinny to possibly get a one or two year run of LBJ and that is before we consider who would have the FA money to sign LBJ and as said above does he leave all that Lakers money for 24/25 on the table.
We don’t know what LBJ will want to do a further year down the road and if he has reached 40k points by then or feels he isn’t the player he was he could call it quits. I personally don’t see LBJ wanting to relocate again as a player and I think he’ll play out 24/25 season and then retire. LA must be a good base for him with media and film work he may do plus his family is likely settled there now. The only way I personally see him moving from there is if he got offered a franchise part ownership in the future.
I doubt that he coaches personally if he did take a role it would be likely something like MJ took at Washington and could well be tied into part ownership offers etc.
Bronny is a good prospect and will get drafted. Also he has vast off court earning potential already and is already a very rich kid. Ideally his best long term career path might be if he ended up as a solid NBA role player, not getting All Star hype or considered a superstar but can carve out a nice career as a complimentary starter/good bench guy and be in the league for 12 to 15 years,

OhCanada-ParticipantNCAA basketball is a buisness. If Bronny doesn’t get minutes heads will be rolling. He’s gonna play 30+ minutes and look good and in this draft that maybe enough.

HitsterParticipantHas there ever been pressure for a top NCAA prospect to get minutes as teams are more about competing than showcasing guys and Bronny isn’t a top 5 potential pick like someof the guys our favourite used car salesman showcases at UK.
I’d assume Bronny has gone to USC as his advisors feel that is the best place to develop and get him NBA ready but I don’t see him playing 30 plus mins in only a 40 minute game. Top NBA starters don’t often play 75% of game time so I’d peg Bronny at 25 to 28 mpg.

ZouldiersParticipantBronny should be on the Heat’s radar as they going to need a PG for the future. He’ll benefit from learning from Spo and the professionalism that comes with the Heat culture. And yes, I do want Bronny regardless of whether or not LeBron comes back to South Beach.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantCam Reddish probably should have had his minutes drop because he was really struggling , but while that Duke team with Zion, RJ Barrett, Tre Jones, and Reddish was top heavy, it was pretty thin. For the most part, guys have to earn their spot. Lively and Whitehead were highly regarded, but neither were gifted big minutes. Kel’el Ware was stuck behind N’Faly Dante. Dillon Mitchell wasn’t handed minutes at Texas. Those were all guys the preseason mock drafts had as top 10 picks.
It is possible USC decides to go with a small three-guard lineup with Collier, Ellis, and Bronny, but think it is more likely he comes off the bench. Kobe Johnson is a returning starter who was playing 30-35 minutes per for much of the season, and offers more size for a wing. It is not an insult or criticism, nor is it uncommon for a freshmen – even the top 100 all-star game types- to not smoothly transition to the college game. The idea that Bronny would have the power over USC in the same way his father has had over his various teams is not realistic. LeBron’s power comes from being the best player of his generation, and having that guy on your team gives them a great chance to win. Bronny might be good – we will see as the season plays out. He isn’t his father. He is a 6’2″ guard, and those are in abundance. I don’t see Andy Enfield starting Bronny out of fear.

HitsterParticipantUSC have a load of high profile students, presidents’ and superstars children have gone there. Andy Enfield has been their coach for a decade and will likely be so post however long Bronny is there,
Guys deciding on their college future too early can backfire as players return or others develop quicker. We had the guy at Duke who transfered when Kyle Filipowski decided to return. The NCAA is about making money and the teams winning, Bronny will make them money but he won’t be showcased just because he is LBJ’s son.
Shaq’s lad went to college and didn’t get any special treatment and Shaq at his peak was probably as famous as LBJ.
I hope Broony does succeed and he seems to have the work ethic so I hope people just let him play and not worry qabout the name on his back.

ChoppyParticipantWhen I saw the title of this thread, I was certain it’d be about his heart attack. Kinda puts all the concerns about draft position and future success into perspective when something like that happens.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantIt is such a scary story, and for it to happen to a guy at USC in consecutive years is stunning. I wonder if the school put into place additional protocols following what happened to Vincent Iwuchukwu. Given how quickly Bronny was released from the hospital, it seems as though the medical response was about as good as anyone could hope.

HitsterParticipantLooks like the blood just stopped pumping to his heart, this has happened to a number of high profile sportsmen in recent years.
Any thoughts of his long term NBA prospects aren’t important at the moment just that he is stable and home.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantBronny James has entered his name into the draft, and a whole lot of analysts either didn’t watch a game this year or are pretending it didn’t happen when discussing his prospects.
2+- Posted on: Sat, 04/06/2024 - 1:20am #1263440
NorrinRaddParticipantNot sure what he has to hang his hat on… average size – but… average athlete… hmm average shooter, average IQ, Idk – wish him the best, he’s not close yet…
Some of these analysts really don’t watch jack… I really question some – Others I love to watch/read/listen too, but yeah… Got to be his status of the name. He hasn’t been great at all.
I had some high hopes for him, I was fooled…
Personally I hope he stays with USC and improves his game. I think he’s taking his talents elsewhere though. He’ll probably transfer somewhere. He doesn’t belong in this year’s draft though.0

HitsterParticipantBronny needs to play under the best college coaching system he can. I’d have thought USC was a good place for him to be but may be does need a change.
