RUDEBOY_ParticipantSeems like Grizzlie fans have 1 more thing to celebrate today after the team beat San Antonio…
According to The Memphis Commercial Appeal Memphis have signed forward Zack Randolph to new 4 year 70 million dollar contract…
This is great move on their part by agreeing to keep their most important player..Rudy Gay is the team’s most talented player, but without Randolph i think they’re a top 5 lottery team….
Now with Randolph, Gay and Conley signed ..What would they do to keep Gasol?

OhCanada-ParticipantThis makes Gasol that much easier to acquire. I really think the Raptors have a decent shot at picking up Gasol, seriously… Toronto seems like the type of team to offer him 9 or 10 mil. Would the Knicks offer that kinda cash…no. How about the Celtics, cant. We know the Grizzlies definitely shouldnt but would they?

M-DYMESParticipantZach Randolph HOF potentially? Dudes put together nearly 10 straight seasons of 20-10 basketball. Not really a guy whose name comes up a lot, but if he continues down this path, he certainly is deserving of the HOF.

Lotto StudParticipantGasol is next & Orange Juice Maynnoise won’t make it back…….Memphis are giving up boo coo dollars like it is nothing to them. The only way I see Juice coming back, is if he really wants to be there & buys into his role as that 6th man, who thinks he can help them contend for a title run next year. No way do they give Juice a big one after they bring back Gasol.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI hear they’re trying to get Gasol signs in the next few weeks…Memphis owner wants to keep his nucleus..He really didnt want to trade Mayo..That was The GM’s idea…But he might agree to trade Mayo this summer…

TyroberParticipantThey beat the Spurs and give 70 million to Randolph. Its a good signing though. Hes a great player and deserved it

nateoak10ParticipantIf they resign Gasol they will be paying 4 huge contracts and with the new CBA lowering the cap…… This is risky as hell. They will either be genius’ or idiots.

ilike.panochasParticipantWell they have had a hard time attracting top free agents, so the best they can do is overpay a little to keep the good players they do have. Gasol and Randolph are the main essential and they must keep those two, whatever and howmuch it takes. Those two has anchored that team to the playoffs without Rudy Gay. It’s a shame Gay is out for the playoffs, they would be even a much stronger team than they are now.

nateoak10ParticipantThey are not in the most favorable of markets so keeping together a solid team is smart but I think overpaying for 4/5 starters will force them to do some big trades to improve due to their cap situation now. OJ Mayo and Xavier Henry will have to be used as trade bait if they want to shake up the roster at all

NashyMingParticipantThey can definitely keep Marc Gasol if they want to, Marc Gasol is a RFA so the Griz can match ANY OFFER.
The griz went crazy signing people for the past 2 years. I think the moves will backfire really soon.
~50mil / 5 for Conley
~80mil / 5 for Gay
~70 mil / 4 for Zach
probably 50mil+ for M Gasol
They basically used up all the cap space on 4 players.
With the new CBA coming, it’s crazy to make all these big moves before knowing the details on the new CBA.

OhCanada-ParticipantUmm how can they realisticly afford those 4 players with the new cap. Randolph/Conley/Gay average as much as James, Wade, Lebron.

TRC1991Participantthe grizz are better without rudy gay…wow…yeah i said it…and i mean it
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/17/2011 - 7:25pm #522609

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI dont think they’re better without them..But sometimes not having to stop ball movement by having a guy that demand touches everytime on offense can do a team good at times..Then other times like during the playoffs when teams step up their defense..You need that guy that can get easy buckets…

mj23mj23besteverParticipantthe grizz havent been a place where fa wanna go so they are having to over pay a bit too keep their core players which isnt a bad thing now hopefully they keep gasol and have a solid core for the future they can still fill in the bench holes with role players like they did with tony allen no idea now what they do wiht mayo no way they can pay him as seem team will over pay him cause the potential is still there and hes still very young

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe Grizzlies dealt their first round pick this year and again in 2013. If they don’t keep the team they have, or at least guys as important as Randolph and Gasol, they have zero chance of being relevant this decade.
I fully expect Mayo’s name to be brought up in trade rumors when draft time comes around. They’ll probably get 25 cents on the dollar for him.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantwith this years draft being so weak depends on what the grizz would be willing too take would utah give one of their lotto picks for mayo? the jazz really need a 2 guard and with the draft being weak imo if the grizz would do it thats a good deal for the jazz
