Just when the Bulls thought they had finally found the low post scorer they so badly needed in Carlos Boozer he gets hurt.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=5644724

According to ESPN.com Boozer will be out for up to 8 weeks because of injury he sustained during an off day. Isn’t the point of having an off day mean that there is a break meaning your not supposed to hurt yourself. Bulls fans welcome to the mess that is Carlos Boozer. Well, at least this means that Taj Gibson will get more playing time.

bad news for Nuggets as well… another team that is out of the running for Melo. Now Taj becomes too important, Noah just got a CRAZY extension… so they have nothing to trade. As this list of potential suitors dwindles… the offer quality will as well.

I had a weird feeling Boozer would get hurt for extended time this year. Boozer’s signing to the Bulls reminded me so much of the 76ers signing Elton Brand in the back of my mind. I was a guy that thought the Bulls should’ve went after Amare instead of Boozer.

Could not agree more Iggy. After so many years of watching him in Utah, you quickly learn that Boozer is the kind of guy that can get you to the dance but not the girl. He can get you into the playoffs, but because of his horrible defense, you will probably only last till the second round year after year. Amare could do so much better. And having Thibodeau as his coach might have helped Amare provide more on the defensive end. I am so glad the Jazz now have Big Al, a much better replacement.

Well so much for the Bulls plan of having a low post scorer. At least they got Taj Gibson, who kind of reminds me of Paul Millsap.

No wonder he didn’t get a max contract, glad the Knicks didn’t go after him.

Utah must be smiling they seen him get injured plenty.

Booze isn’t horrible defensively. At least he wasn’t last season (contract year).

I’d be willing to bet that Amare misses a few weeks this season as well.

Not likely but Knicks got a nice backup in Antony Randolph.

It was a hand injury so it should not be as devastating as a knee or leg injury but it is kind of disapointing for Bulls fans but he should be back in time to help them do things in the playoffs though. They will probably be a lower seed now which could make thing interesting in the East.

sukcs for the bulls obviously, But he should come back around december and like sheltwon pointed out a hand injury is a lot easier to come back from then a leg injury. Looking at the big picture, this doenst change much of anything.

Bulls really will get passed up by the Bucks in the standings now.

What are you talking about nomoney? Boozer and Okur were always blamed for the horrible defense in the post. Why do you think Gasol just destroyed us in the post? If Boozer played a little better defense than he would’ve been able to block more of his shots, and the Jazz probably could’ve won one game. Of course he tried to play some defense in his contract year. It was his last year, he wanted to show other teams what else he can do. Other teams like defense (Except if your talking about the Warriors or the Raptors), so he played some defense. But if it was not his last year, I bet you he would have just taken a nap on D just like he always does. The contract year is a big factor. A player will play out of his style and will either excel or not. In this case Boozer excelled. All we know is that Boozer can play defense but does he, No. There is no effort and that is what left so many jazz fans frustrated.

You think that the Jazz are the only team that couldn’t stop Gasol?

Boozer wasn’t a shotblocker, but he was a solid defender. He held his own against players like Dwight Howard, and Amare Stoudemire. He was also (and always has been) a dynamo rebounder and he got a lot of steals.

Mehmet Okur isn’t a shotblocker either, but he is a good defender. Maybe you don’t remember the way he could lock down Tim Duncan and Yao Ming.

The Jazz were actually a VERY good defensive team. All we were missing was a shotblocker and somebody to defend tall, long players like Nowitzki, Gasol and Odom. Kirilenko has seen some success against those players, but when he’s injured we don’t stand a chance. Booze and Millsap were too small, Memo was too slow, Koufos was too goofy and Fess fouled too much.

Dude, you’re a Jazz fan. You should know all this.

Boozer was a very mediocre defender and so was Okur, who was even worse a defender than Boozer. His defensive struggles got more pronounced playing against tall and lengthy guys like Gasol and Dirk etc etc, but Boozer wasn’t a very good defender for Utah. Just about every player in the NBA can have a game where they play outstanding D, but Boozer isn’t very good the vast majority of the time on D.

Also, for you to say that Amare will get hurt for 2 months so you can feel better about Boozer getting hurt is pretty bad man. It’s OK to be a Jazz/Boozer fan, but it’s almost like you are wishing Amare will get hurt so that Boozer’s injury won’t look bad. You should never look at injury’s from that spectrum.

i dont care how much i root against a player/team, i never want to see anyone get hurt. Thats not me trying to sound pc, i just like to see the best vs the best and have no excuses when teams play.

"I’d be willing to bet that Amare misses a few weeks this season as well."

I was talking about this statement. I don’t know what he was trying to get accomplished by that statement, but it’s almost like he was pulling for Amare to get hurt to make him feel better about Boozer getting hurt.

Yeah, where did you draw any of those conclusions from?

I’m NOT a Boozer fan, but he is a solid defender. As is Memo.

And I never said Amare would get injured, nor did I ever say that I wanted him to get injured. I was addressing NYK2010 who said that "No wonder he didn’t get a max contract, glad the Knicks didn’t go after him."

And I guess you are right. Utah was a pretty good defensive team last season, but our starting post players were bad defenders. That’s because Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko were guarding the entire opposition at the same time. /sarcasm

    Whatever man.

Yes, I hate Amare. I’m sitting here right now poking a voodoo doll of him with a thumbtack. I hope he gets injured.

There are more than just 4 players on a team though, and I’m not saying Okur and Boozer are terrible on D. They are mediocre defenders at best, but not liabilities for the most part. You can have 2 mediocre defenders and be a decent defensive team, you just have to have solid team D throughout the roster.

I only said that they were solid defenders in the first place. So there isn’t anywhere for this argument to go.

If we did have two horrible (as previously suggested) defenders in the post (playing 66 out of a possible 96 minutes), then there is no way that we would be a good defensive team (which we were). We played good team defense and part of that was Boozer and part of that was Okur. Both also had their moments playing the stopper (mostly against the less agile bigs).

By the way, I think that you have to expect injuries. It’s unrealistic to assume that any player is going to be healthy for the entire season. And I said "a few weeks". Not "2 months".

I didn’t tell you? Boozer used to give me wedgies when we were in middle school together in Alaska. He didn’t like that my mom but Apple sauce in my lunchbox, since he only got an actual apple in his. And the skin wasn’t cut either, so he actually had to bite into the skin. That was a pet peeve of his. I still don’t like him to this day because of him bullying me. :/

How can I be mad at someone after a post like that?

I would spit some nonsense about Amare flinging boogers at me during Temple, but I’m trying to impress this Paraguayense lady who isn’t attracted to immaturity or “Slab talkings”, as she would say.

    Now let’s dance.

His knee injury is 2 yrs ago now…   so if he’s not moving notiecably better this season,  he’s a large contract for the Jazz.
