SupParticipantExcluding Boxing and UFC. That punch was on the money, laid him out.
P.S. What was that white kid thinking putting his hands on another man. The racial undertones of both this fight, and the Ron Artest fight are alarming.
P.S.S. Fair suspension but that was not a sucker punch.

QHaynes20Honestly, if he didn’t spaz at the crowd…I think he would have gotten 4 games

RUDEBOYHE SHOULD’VE BEEN SUSPENDED FOR TOUCHING BLOUNT..I WOULD’VE CLOCKED HIM TO….AFTER THE GREAT PUNCH..BLOUNT SHOULD’VE LEFT THE FIELD.. HE ALMOST STARTED A RIOT…

llperezGood thing you left out UFC from this conversation because if you saw Marquardt vs Maia last weekend, you wouldn’t be impressed by Blount’s punch. Maia got hit so hard, he litterly lifted off his feet and did a 180 in the air and landed flat on his face. He was out cold.
I know that has nothing to do with this thread, but I wanted to get that out there. Anyways, Blount at least got his money’s worth because his season is over.

jeff416ParticipantI dont think he was a racist didnt Blount say something pregame that they were going to blow out Boise State or something like that? He was probably just braggin that his prediction didnt come true when someone says there goin to blow me out in 1 on 1 and then I win I talk trash to. Imo the suspension was a little unfair even though he hit dude he shouldnt of gotten more than a game or 2 but the whole season thats ridiculous now that guys career is pretty much over.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantThat punch was nothing compared to Kermit Washington’s KO of Rudy Tomjanovich.

llperezyeah, the whole season is kinda rough. He must have had been on thin ice already. Everyone was probably yelling stuff at him after and he just lost it big time. But if he works hard, he can still become a pro and grow from this as a person. The other kid should make a public appology for his actions as well. All I am saying, is give peace a chance.

blazer_fan_foreverParticipantI am saddened by Blount’s suspension…It’s deserving, but Blount is a fantastic RB and would’ve been a 2nd round pick…Oregon is going to have a tough time without Blount (also Ward, their best defensive player is out with an ankle injury) and I expect Oregon to struggle…
If I were Blount, I would stick with Oregon…He knows he made a big mistake. He owes it to Oregon to stay with us. He should be an assistant coach for the running backs and help them throughout the year. If he shows a good attitude and cheers for his team on the sidelines. He still has a chance to get drafted…He has all the tools to be a very productive running back (he reminds me of a shorter Brandon Jacobs), he just needs to fix his attitude.

FT33ParticipantThat suspention was just. But, the guy that got punched should have been suspended. If he just went on his merry way, none of this would have happenned and no one would be talking about this. Also, if the police, the staff, and the Oregon players wasn’t there, this would be like the Pacers-Pistons game or even worse…

blazer_fan_foreverParticipantThe Boise State coach will most likely not play him…That guy basically ruined Blounts career…I think at least one game on the bench is deserving.
You guys, don’t get me wrong…The punch was great, but if you seriously think he only deserves 1 to 2 games then something is wrong…
After the punch he:
Flexed his muscles, backed away and was talking shit.
Hit his own teammate (who was trying to HELP) in the face…
He went after fans. Yes, that fan probably said something that he shouldn’t, but Blount talked trash before the game and he knew if he lost that was going to happen…
He was so out of control police and his teammates were trying to get him off of the field…Absolutely inexcusable.

juicejc1ParticipantIs a little blown out of proportion I mean he said they owed them an a** whoopin, and he is just saying they needed to come out and win this game after losing to them at home last year. he could’ve said it in a better way though

NBATalk20098Participantwat about Miguel Angel Torres vs Brian Bowles
0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/04/2009 - 6:41pm #210073

llperezThat was sick too. I thought Miguel was still in it when he hit the ground, he had his arms out to his side and he looked real calm, and then Bowles just pounced and smasshed him unconscious. I expect to see a rematch in less then a year. Bowles is no joke though. Miguel said that Brian beating him was like waking a sleeping giant, so we’ll see what Torres has in store.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAs a University of Oregon alumnus, this of course was something that kind of shook me. I was expecting big things from LeGarrette Blount this season, and to see his career end off on this note is just really disappointing. I definitely feel he was provoked by Hout, who I feel should get a couple games suspension just for provocation and just utter poor sportsmanship. The only reason he did not see the punch coming was because his coach was coming over to call him out for being a dick, but I feel that Kelly’s suspension of Blount was quite justified. His actions after the punch I feel played little to no part in the number of games he was suspended, once the actual punch happened, it was over. If you see highlights of LeGarrette Blount from last year, I am sure you will be saying “damn” to at least a few of his ridiculous bull dozing runs, but from what I heard he had trouble this off-season and was also in horrible shape. This likely will cost him a job in the NFL unless he gets his act together and dedicates himself to football, because he looked awful during the game as well, where he ran for -5 yards on like 12 carries and got tackled for the safety, which was just a poor decision to try and run him east-west in the end zone. That being said, his is a total bruiser who looked fantastic last year and was a bigger, slower Jonathan Stewart and I was looking forward to him being the feature back this year. Now, after what happened, I am looking to the future and just want LaMichael James and maybe a Kenjon Barner to tear things up. We played an awful first game, but I still have faith in this team and think we can pull some things off to go 9-3/8-4. But, if we had LeGarrette Blount, I honestly thought the sky was the limit, even after our terrible season opener.

doubledribblerParticipantCan anyone send me a video link to all the extra stuff (i.e., Blount going after fans)? I didn’t see any of that when I watched replays, but I may not have been watching closely enough.
The whole thing is crazy though. I think a season is way too much. It gets me that the other guy gets no time, even though he instigated the fight. As far as I am concerned, the words don’t matter. People can say whatever they want, but the problem starts when you start putting your hands on people. I’m not sure if Blount is a bad guy or if this was just a one time incident. When things like this happen, the emotions that you have going towards what one person starts getting you going and then when other people start jumping in, things start getting crazy and the person becomes more defensive. It seems crazy, but when you are already surrounded by a lot of foes, it’s not so bizarre.
It’s good that he apologized, he will still get drafted, but he is probably going to fall some. He just needs to stay out of trouble and he will be fine. As for the other guy, it would have been classic if someone had said that famous line from the movie Friday. If you watched it, you know what I am talking about, if not I won’t repeat it here. By the way, where’s the apology from him? Hopefully he is not pretending that he is a victim. He’s going to be remembered for getting knocked out cold…that’s his highlight of the season.

twotrill25ParticipantThe white boy should be suspended for 3 games
he hit him 1st0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/05/2009 - 8:24am #210161

TheENDParticipantBlount is a PUNK for throwing a sucker punch and it was a sucker punch cause the guy was not looking at him and was not expecting it.That kind of crap can literally kill someone, especially if he would have hit him in the temple!
I totally agree the Boise St. kid should not have been talking crap but unfortunately that is the sports world for you these days and Blount should have just said something like F*** You!!
I never have liked trash talking cause it does nothing to improve the game and when you have so much testoserone and emotion all it does is make things more volatile.
Sucker punching someone is nothing to be proud of and even a girl could knock out someone if they were not looking!
Oh twotrill, drop the use of white boy cause that is racist by it’s very nature. When you become 18 you are a man and 99% of college players are at least 18.

draftnikParticipantThe game was a wash in a major way, but Blount stuck the mess out of that D-End. What I don’t understand is why did Blount get lambasted by the “experts” for showing bad sportsmanship, but every single one of them, except for Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit this morning, failed to noticed that he was provoked by some water-boy sub who probably didn’t do diddly poo during the game. Another thing I find disturbing is that when you go on YouTube, the comments on this is so racist, its past pathetic.

bobbybParticipantthat was one of the worst cheapshots i have ever seen, however i am surprised he was suspended for the season, maybe half the season but i agree people get hot headed at these games.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 09/05/2009 - 10:07pm #210420

llperezhow was it a cheap shot? The other guy approached Blount, pushed him and talked trash. Then as soon as Blount turned towards him, he immediately turned his head and got punched. Why would he immediately turn away since he obvioulsy wanted to get the other guys attention. There was nothing cheap about it.
