I just read on hoopshype that Blake Griffin will undergo surgery on his infected elbow and will miss two to six weeks which really might hurt the Clipper in the hunt for a good playoff berth at best or could cause a lot of more more trouble considering that rivals like the Mavs, Thunder or Pelicans are all making the same push or are trying to move into the playoffs.

After checking the playoff standings today I learned that if the Pelicans can make a push after beeing on a roll lately every team out of the southwest devision might earn a playoff spot which is absolutely insane.

On the other hand I’m more than happy for Lillard that he is now in and absolutely rightfully so!!!

Clips have a tough schedule, and are likely to lose the next 4.

That brings them to the same losses as Phoenix are currently, so Clips are a very real threat of being in a 4 way battle for the 7/8 seeds with Thunder, Suns, and Pels.

I  don’t like when players miss time, it just ruins the game, but as a Celtics fan this has me smiling! The Celtics own the Clippers pick this year, and I just want it to be as high as possible. But with that fanaticism aside, I think this will really hurt the Clippers, and todays game vs. OKC was just a preview.

For all the hype he gets, Chris Paul needs Blake in the line-up to truely get that team going. Blake is a great passer for his position, and demands a lot of attention. Without those two traits in the lineup the Clippers shooters won’t be getting as good of looks, and CP3 will be asked to do more than his already heavy workload. The Clippers are a mess right now, and have NO depth and no true scorers outside of Blake, Paul, and Crawford. Him going do will really stretch the Clips thin. Lucky for them a lot of his absense will be eaten up by the All-Star break.

I think this is also a good time to put Doc under a microscope, and examine how good of a coach/his sets really are. When a key player goes down, the team can still compete if the gameplan is good enough. We see this all the time from the Spurs and Mavs, and it should be interesting to see how Doc approaches this.

Coach Rivers is struggling, but GM Rivers must be a big problem too.

Drafted Reggie Bullock with a first round pick, would later trade him away for a family member.

Gave away Eric Bledsoe, got a useful shooter and versatile Dudley.  Then added a first round pick to Dudley to give him away.

Couldn’t keep Darren Collison, Chris Paul’s great understudy, around.

His big free agent signings have been Jamison, Big Baby, BJ Mullins, Dahntay Jones.

The Clippers also gave away the first rounder that was mentioned to get their coach, and that resulted in only one more win than the previous season.

I still think if they play smart they can hold onto their playoff spot, but they also have to stop their complaining and other attitude problems.  All their technical fouls, that is free points to the other team.  Crawford, his minutes have to go up by 10 per game with Blake out.  Hawes needs to stay behind the three arc, so Jordan can catch alley-oops inside, unless Hawes is being guarded by someone half a foot shorter and then he can work in the paint.  They also need to waive Turkoglu, and sign a veteran minimum guy who can score a bit inside, maybe there is someone in China or someone in the NBA who will be bought out by their current team, or maybe A Bynum or Blatche or some other crazy idea is needed.

We’ll now see whatChris Paul really is in 2015. I’ve never been a fan especially because of his flopping/whining. Now we’ll see if he’s just the side kick to Griffin,or the heart and soul of the team and if he can make his teammates better. They looked terrible yesterday, especially on defense.
And I think doc is a very good coach…and a terrible GM. He drafted a shooting guard this year after they drafted another shooting guard the year before, and that’s their most stacked position. They badly needed a SF,I’m not saying a rookie will change the team’s fortune, but Inglis,Robinson,Mcdaniels,Grant,Early,Thanasis,Anderson were small forwards who were still available at that time. Could have looked to develop one of them maybe.
