This time I’ve added some more prospects, as it seems there’s a lot that have a shot at being drafted depending on who enters the draft. Of course I encourage more big boards, (or mocks) as we love lurking to see where others stand on prospects. Doesn’t matter how much guys are on the radar either, just a lottery big board is good even. I’m also going more on intel based and not just my gut feeling this time. Any questions, comments or critiques are welcome.

Looks pretty much on the money as always.
The G League system is developing and I like the idea of the Ignite team, if a couple more like that were created it would be a good idea.

Baba Miller I’m now thinking really needs to return for his Soph year with Florida State as his current draft status isn’t looking great.

Throwing it out there, why is GG Jackson so much more highly regarded than Leonard Miller? In SEC play, Jackson is has horrible shooting splits (33.1% from the field, 26.9% from three on almost 6 attempted per, and 61.9% from the line). The only good games against winning teams came against UAB and Furman (neither of whom are high major programs). His turnover rate is high and isn’t as good of a rebounder as you would think. He looks the part, and has the measurables, but Miller does as well. Miller is from from an accomplished shooter, but his 16-61 is not much worse than Jackson. I’d throw Noah Clowney in as well. He has the physical makeup of Miller and Jackson, but is not as intriguing as Miller.

Leonard Miller is raw still. He had 1st round buzz last year… until he got completely lost at the combine. That’s why he went to the GLeague Ignite. GG Jackson is probably going to be the youngest prospect in the draft. He’s doing pretty good against players older and more experienced college players. While Leonard Miller would have been the youngest prospect last year had he stayed, he wasn’t cutting it against competition. Infact his progression has been a bit slower than hoped as well. His draft range is about the same as it was last year atm because of his lack of consistency. Furman is a sneaky defensive team too btw. Jalen Slawson is a turnover creating machine. I’d consider GG a good bet on being the best big of this class outside of Wemby long term. Not sure if GG Jackson is exactly like Josh Smith, but if he has a Josh Smith like impact, that’s actually pretty good. I find it pretty funny that Jackson’s getting criticized for shooting splits when Keyonte George in many scouts head is the next Bradley Beal. His “form” is pretty. Lol! I think he’s more of a slightly better Cole Anthony myself. But he’s streaky. He can get hot one night and cold the next and isn’t shooting 40% from the floor. Cole Anthony isn’t a bad player and wasn’t a bad prospect. But I’ve seen (not necessarily on this site) on a lot of big boards Keyonte George in the 3-10 range. Really? Top 5 is a reach for a prospect like that.

Then there’s the Emoni Bates thing. So many people put the blame on Emoni and label this kid not coachable. Scouts are putting him anywhere from the 20s to undrafted from buzz I’m hearing, despite that crazy game he displayed against Toledo. Is it possible that Emoni and Penny just didn’t mesh well and it didn’t work and it’s nobody’s fault? I mean he was forced into playing point and now his camp has him playing iso ball. Lots of hate towards Emoni for some reason. He has skills in theory a coach could work with from his range and his handle. He’d be scary if he could play away from the ball. Not sure if he’s ever been in that scenario legitimately. I don’t think this kid’s Kevin Durant or anything like he was originally projected to be, but I do think he could develop into a similar player of a Brandon Ingram. That’s not bad if you can maximize that. But hey, Keyonte George is Bradley Beal. Ok.

I see GG being a Josh Smith type player and Leonard Miller being like Perry Jones.

Leonard would likely have been drafted later first round had he stayed in the draft last year. This year he needs to have kicked on but maybe hasn’t really done so. GG has a lot more value on the defensive end and was seen as a top 5 2024 prospect so he has come forward a year whilst Miller has waited a year hence people value GG’s upside more perhaps.

I too would have Leonard as late first riound with GG inside my top 10 somewhere between 6 and 10.

I fully agree with Norrin that GG is going to be the next specialist frontcourter drafted after Wemby. I’d class Kris Murray as a combo forward and he looks like being this year’s Keegan Murray. For the next frontcourt specialists you are then outside of the lottery for Noah Clowney so any team looking for a big may well have to trade down or reach. Hence I can see GG having high draft stock from those who have no chance of getting Wemby.

There are a number of combo forwards in this range and with fluid smallball line ups a lot will have the size to play frontcourt especially if the team has a decent defensive anchor or play smaller line ups.

I haven’t heard much about DaRon Holmes but he is listed on this sites first round. Dayton have beenm a bit off my radar since the postponed season when they were likely a very high seed I must admit.

I saw a game earlier in the year with DaRon Holmes. I thought “UNC Asheville and Drew Pember could maybe be a good match up against DaRon Holmes and Dayton… Drew Pember scored 40 earlier in a game against Taylor Hendricks and UCF. Could be interesting.” – Not really. DaRon Holmes destroyed Pember and Dayton won. Then I concluded DaRon Holmes needs to be moved up on boards. He has a chance of being the first sophomore chosen on draft night. It could be Terquavion Smith or Maxwell Lewis or something, but why not Holmes? I could see the Heat drafting him and having him play next to Bam in bigger lineups. Some scenario like that anyways.

Miller is raw, but so is GG Jackson. That is my point. For Jackson to be taken in the lottery seems like quite the leap.

I get it. Once you get past three, there is a lot of uncertainty. I think the Thompsons need to rework their shots. The follow through to the right needs to be changed. Anthony Black does not excite me in the lottery. I suppose because Dyson Daniels went 8th, it isn’t out of the question, but I don’t think a team will get typical lottery returns. I don’t think Daniels has been a disaster, but when you take a guy like that at 8 you open the door to Alvarado mattering a lot. Rayan Rupert has not been good in the NBL, so if you take him you have to wait. Nick Smith has barely played, and who knows what a doctor might think of that knee. Whitehead was not as good as projected (wasn’t a great finisher at the rim or in the mid-range), and now is hurt. He still has the frame, athleticism, and showed to be more than capable as a catch-and-shoot guy to go early. I hope they don’t rush him back. Both Keyonte George and Jett Howard have had their ups and downs shooting, though they look better than the results. They also have a good feel for the game that makes them feel safer. Hendricks might be the second most productive “one-and-done” in the NCAA. Given the climate, I am ok with a guy with his physical makeup not really being a creator going quite early. Kris Murray has been good, but will being a 23-year old rookie cause him to drop? Whitmore has had more good than bad on a disappointing Villanova team, but has still only played 15 games so far.

There is always a player who moves up late, we thought we’d got the top 4 locked last year then Keegan Murray moved up. I’m happy to assume Brandon Miller as pretty much a lock at 3. But then hell of a lot will depend on workouts I have players in a rough pecking order but I now never mock until we know who will be picking where or even post lottery.

Norrin thanks for the feedback on DaRon Holmes, I’ll try to watch some of his stuff this weekend.

As BTPH says a lot of guys in the lottery after the top 3 have some question marks about part of their game or NBA maturity so if some step up then the top 10 even top 5 could really start to move about and sort itself out in March Madness.

Another prospect to look out for is Toumani Camara. DaRon Holmes’ teammate is an older prospect, but he can play defense and knock down shots. Camara had a game last night too.

I don’t know if he gets drafted, but I could def see him being an NBA player. He reminds me of a PJ Washington type of player.

Camara wouldn’t seem an obvious NBA prospect given he is turning 23 soon and hasn’t really dominated at college level. But he’d have a lot of defensive potential across a number of positions. Whether he’d get drafted I don’t know but he’ll get summer league and/or training camp invites and worsecase scenario he can return to Europe and get a pro contract there or elsewhere.

He has had a couple of big games recently and if he keeps that up will move up or onto possible workout lists.
