JoeWolf1The Big 12 has some serious talent coming in this season. With Avery Bradley, Xavier Henry, Tiny Gallon, Wally Judge and others infiltrating the Big 12 this season I wanted to see who everyone thought would be the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Avery and Henry have had the most publicity, but both are joining veteran teams with established leaders. Gallon is joining Willie Warren, but the team loses 2009 #1 pick Blake Griffin, and Judge joins an underachieving KSU squad from last year. Nolan Dennis from Baylor could be a potential contender as should Jordan Hamilton, Thomas Robinson, Tommy Mason-Griffin, and Raymond Penn. Personally, I think Wally Judge will add a much needed post presence to KSU and will have the room to put up big stats for an improving team. That being said, I think he will be Big 12 NCOTY. Who do you guys think will win the award?

JNixonParticipantAvery Bradley will be Newcomer of the Year I believe. And I’m saying that and I’m a Kstate guy.
– But why did you say Kansas State was an underachieving team? They were predicted to finish 8th and 9th last season and they were 4th or 5th..they were an overachieving team considering the players they lost from the 07-08 season.

JoeWolf1They had an ok conference record, and had a legitamite shot at the NCAA and couldn’t win down the stretch. I said under acheiving because I thought they should have won some games they lost down the stretch not because of pre season expectations.

JNixonParticipantThey lost to Kansas and Missouri, who were 2nd weekend tourny teams and OK State who made it to the 2nd round of the tourny. Kansas State exceeded expectations to me, they started off the conference season 0-4 and ended 9-7.

Henry25Participantavery bradley, he will have the ball in his hands as soon as he steps foot in Texas. Don’t sleep on Jordan Hamilton either, kid has a lot of game and may end up out-shining Bradley

JoeWolf1What about Jai Lucas? Do you think he is going to have a big impact for Texas? I think he’ll have a different kind of impact that Bradley, but he can really push the ball and is good in the open court, and has a really nice long distance shot. I haven’t really seen much of him except a couple of games when he was at Florida a couple years ago, but I bet he puts up around 10 and 3.5 for the Longhorns this season.

JNixonParticipantYea, and at least 40% of his 3’s he has a pure stroke from downtown. I expect 10 and 5. Good addition.
