JHong621ParticipantThis could have been talked about before, so I apologize if I’m biting anyone. There are stars on each team that get most of the credit for the success of their team, but also receive most of the blame when their team falls below expectation. Behind every team, there are roles players that are just as vital to the team as the stars, but have to play under the shadows caused by the shine of the all stars. My question is: which team has the best role player roster? And who makes up your role player all star team?
Right now, if Magic sign Barnes, I think they have nice depth in terms of role players. Him and Piestrus don’t get recognition, but I think they are good players nevertheless. Them along with guys like Redick, Gortat, soon to be Brandon Bass and Ryan Anderson and even Anthony Johnson can get the job done. That with their all star players makes them a deep and dangerous team. Depth is key, one person alone can’t get you to the playoffs. Just ask anyone that lives in Cleveland. As for my All star Role playing team:PG: Derek Fisher, Calderon, Mike Conley, Duhon
-Fisher has been a solid role player his whole career. Calderon and Conley are role players now, but have the potential to be greater. I know I got in an argument before defending Duhons worth, and I still think he is an underrated player. He plays with heart through injuries, and gets the ball to his teammates. Solid role player IMO.
SG: Deshawn Stevenson, Anthony Parker, JR Smith
-I love all these players games. Can play D and shoot well. They play efficiently too, not need many shots to score
SF: Barnes, Pietrus, Battier
I love Battiers game. Great defense, I remember seeing him guarding Kobe and literally putting his hand in his face.
PF: Birdman, Big Baby, Varejo
A high energy group. They all bring something different.
C: Noah, Horford, Gortat
Again another high energy groupI probably left a lot of well deserving names. This is just off the top of my head. O ya, just thought of Eddie House. What do you guys think?

BasketballGuru24ParticipantI don’t think calderon, and fisher are role players they both start and lead their teams……hence the world lead

Lemons4LifeParticipantPretty good post. I think Kirk Hinrich can play point well when needed. Because before they had Rose, Hinrich was averagin 14 a game and kinda looked like Rondo.

JHong621ParticipantGuru – I agree with you. I was kind of borderline in adding them to the list. The only reason I added them is they don’t get the recognition they deserve playing with big names. Their contributions are bigger then their reputations (maybe not Big Shot Fisher tho)

JHong621ParticipantOf course, can’t forget Turiaf, ridiculous. I think he averaged something like over 4 bp48min. That’s ridiculous! I am also high on Blatche for some reason…

knicksfreakParticipantDavid Lee. Nomatter what Knicks fans try to make him out to be thats what he is. He is a very good role player.

JNixonParticipantTo me its JR Smith. He is everything you can ever ask for offensively (outside of questionable shots and an average mid range game) and he works hard defensively. He really played alot better D last year, showed better instincts.

dwat4444ParticipantAdam Morrison…Can you honestly say theres a better bench warmer in the league? NO. He’s the best at keeping those seats warm. Although Reddick is getting good at it.

JHong621Participantknicksfreak I have to disagree with you. But its in a good way. I don’t believe he is a role player. He’s too good to be one. There were times when he had to carry that Knicks team. I believe he is a star in the league, and if not, soon to be one.
