21yoGMParticipantJust wondering who you guys think is the top prospect outside of Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Smart, Exam, Randle and I will include Gordon because I think a gm will fall in love with him if he comes out this year. I think another year of school would do a lot for his career.
My my choice as of right now is Zach Lavine. He has athletic ability that rivals wiggins. If he can make the transition to pg he could be just as good as anyone on this draft. At this point he is a risk but outside of the top 6 I think has the best chance if becoming a star at the nba level.
Let me know who u guys think will be the best player outside of the big 6 or 7.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI’m probably not going to have anyone agree with me, but I like TJ Warren. I think he could have a good future in the NBA and I’m surprised he isn’t talked about more to be honest.
Gary Harris would be runner up for me

LitteringAnd…ParticipantI don’t think LaVine is a risk at a 7th or 8th pick. I agree though, his potential is through the roof, I also think Ennis has the potential to be a starter in the NBA. If he goes to a team in nead of help at the point (Lakers, maybe Orlando with their extra pick) he has the team-running skills and intelligence to contribute right away.

hbomb3300ParticipantI would also go with Lavine… if a team can commit to him being their point guard, give him time to develop like the Thunder did with Westbrook, he could be really special. It seems like his confidence has gone down some since the start of the season but I wouldn’t let that scare me if I was a gm.

21yoGMParticipantI like what u said about letting Lavine develop. I think his confidence taking a hit can be a good thing. It shows he has a conches in like Russell.
I haven’t seen much of TJ Warren so I can’t comment.
Tyler Ennis has to be the best pure point gaurs in this draft. Other then his assist to turnover ratio nothin about him stands out to me but I think he will be a solid nba starter in the mold of mike Conley

B-ball fanParticipantHood has been outstanding this season for Duke. Really efficient shooter, solid size for a wing, can score in transition and is a good defender. He is has a versatile offensive player and doesn’t need the ball to be an effective scorer. He may not have the upside of some of the draft’s top freshmen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he became one of the top 5 scorers to come out of this draft class. Really solid, with good physical tools and the right mentality to succeed in the NBA.

21yoGMParticipantThere is a lot to be said about wings who can contribute at the nba level without being ball dominant. Every team covets them. Especially one who has an offensive game and is not the teams designated wing defender. As long as he can consistently nock down an open jumper he should be ok, I don’t see him contributing much if his shot is not falling

Sewok15ParticipantJames Young has been picking it up big time. He is a guy I think will be moving up draft boards and will land in the top 10 for sure. LaVine and Young are both guys who will draw a lot of interest right around the 5th to 7th pick by the time the draft comes around.

machu46ParticipantA couple guys I really like outside that top 7:
LaVine (everyone’s already talked about why he’s a great prospect)
Jerami Grant: I think he can be a really good starter in the NBA at some point. It sounds like most people see him at SF, but when I look at his frame, he looks like a guy that can add on a lot of muscle, and I think if he can, he’ll be a great PF. Elite athleticism, very good rebounder, very good ball-handler for a potential PF, an improving mid-range jumpshot, great potential as a defender, and a knack for drawing fouls (and he’s finally starting to become a solid free throw shooter).

Skeating12345ParticipantMy first pick, other than Lavine, would be James Young. He has very good size at around 6’6 for a SG, he has a beautiful lefty stroke, long arms, and he is very athletic. He has great potential as a shooter and on defense. I think he will be a top 10 pick when its all said and done.

DatboythereParticipantI just don’t see it with LaVine. I’ve watched a couple of UCLA’s games and I didn’t see anything to suggest that he be a NBA lottery pick. His youtube highlights of him dunking show wlite athleticism but that should not be the basis for a lottery pick.
The Westbrook comparisions are so off base. Westbrook went to UCLA, that’s about it. Westbrook possessed an elite defensive prowess at UCLA (granted I did not see Westbrook being drafted 4th and exploding on to the scene like he did). Lavine does not even display his elite athleticism in games. Also, he does not show any ability to be able to transition to the pg position, the hardest position to move to.
I say Gary Harris, and McAdoo is an absolute steal in the late 1st or 2nd.

21yoGMParticipantThe Westbrook comparison come from the fact that Westbrook also played the two gaurd at UCLA, the end to end speed and athleticism. Agreed Westbrook was a lock down defender. In the final four game against Memphis he did more then hold his own against Derrick Rose be was really the best player on UCLA against the highest level of competition. the UCLA team had Darren Collison, Kevin Love and luc Richard mbamute who all were drafted. That’s why he was drafted 4th overall.

Meditated StatesParticipantHas been impressive everytime I watch him. His defense is very good and his passing and handle have been impressive. I see his game opening up in the NBA. Top 10 prospect to me. Robbery if he goes where he is listed on this site. He rebounds well for his position. I see a triple double threat often in the NBA. His free throw shooting leaves much to be desired and his J must and will improve.

Kokayne_DawkinzParticipantSorry but how is Aaron gordan an future triple double threat? He’s not an very good shot blocker even at the college level and his ability to creat off the dribble is suspect

machu46ParticipantI agree that I don’t think he’ll put up triple doubles, but he is a good rebounder and passer, and I feel like if you play 30+ minutes a game, chances are, you’ll score 10+ points, so it could happen on a freak game where he racks up 10 assists (but I personally doubt it will happen).

sportspolymathParticipantTJ Warren has a bright future in the NBA. He does a great job of scoring without holding the ball. Most of his points come off of quick 1-3 quick dribble moves near the basket. He’s also scoring a lot of points witjout hitting 3-4 three balls a game. As his shot continues to improve, it will open up drives and make him better.

4ngetnmoreDUKEParticipantI am going to have to say Rodney Hood is the best outside the top 7. I personally think he is better than a top 7. But he has the tools and he isnt fresh out of high school. He ks a mature kid who can handle himself athletic can handle the balland shoot the three and create his own shot. Everyone overlooks his developement w other guys but in the last year and since his freshman year he has gotten way better.Besides that there are guys down the board that could be very good. Adrian Payne is long strong athletic can drive to the bucket and shoot the basketball with ease. Kyle Anderson could be real good or a flop christon is a portotypical nba point and Vonleh if he coaches n gms are patient could be very very good.

redone1ParticipantI’m suprised no one has mentioned Vonleh yet. If I had the 7th pick and needed a big guy I would take him no doubt. He has amazing length so although he may be a lil short for the posistion (6-8) his length def makes up for it. He’s already a very good rebounder in what is know as the toughest conference in America. He’s got a built body already which helps immensely. Although he’s not a fluid post player he’s beginning to look more comfortable with a baby hook to either hand. He also has alot of potential as a pick and pop 4-man. I think he could one day be a very solid player in the league. Perhaps a longer version of Paul Milsap.

lalailaParticipantat Nike Hoop summit he measured 6’10 with a 7’4 wingspan..so that’s great, somewhat in Ibaka or Favors category
he rebounds great and shows some defense potential..and while he is very raw offensivelly but 7 of 9 from three in the last few games looks somewhat promising..
I also would take him or James Young after THAT top7
