I’d have to say Griffin. No fit is perfect, and it would be hard playing with someone as ball dominant; but in a best of bad situations; i think Griffin in a high pick and roll with westbrook; with shooters in the corner wouldn’t be horrible. There are risks with this for sure- but if you add a few shooters (oladipo has alot of value)…

But a Klay Thompson/Bradley Beal would be the perfect fit

I agree. I meant in the offseason, who may be available. Yes, that’s a better fit; Thompson is as good fit as you’lll get.

The Thunder have essentially no cap space with the Oladipo and Adams extensions kicking in, so they will be bargain hunting unless they can unload Kanter. They could really use some internal development from McDermott and Sabonis, resigning Gibson would show that they lack faith in their development. They also badly need a better backup point guard.

Bargain three point shooting wings and backup pgs they could potentially get for the midlevel exception:

    Gerald Green

    Raymond Felton

    Shabazz Muhammad

    Omri Casspi

    Justin Holiday

    Sergio Rodriguez

    Ty Lawson

If they dump salary, Mirotic or Patrick Patterson would be great frontcourt fits.

Looking at playstyle alone and not being realistic, Boogie and Klay would probably be the dream duo to pair with Russ. He doesn’t need another playmaker when he’s on the court (although we desperately need one when he’s off), he needs scoring and defense

Javale McGee would be nice. Russ/Javale pick and rolls would be DEADLY or at least incredibly entertaining.

Would also take pressure off Steven Adams. Obviously you hope they can play some twin towers.

I would then get another GSW bench guy — Shaun Livingston. A pass first dude with a nice mid-range game.he can be Russ’s backup but they can also play those two together some.

Draft: Best wing player available. Pick up Johnathan Williams as a stretch 4.  Luke Kennard would be a good, crafty scorer/shooter to put next to Russ. If he isn’t there they should think about trading down for multiple picks.  Outside of the top 10 or so the only guys I like are Kennard, Justin Jackson, and Jordan Bell.

Other than that, trade down for Sindarius Thornwell. Or an Oregon wing. Nigel Hayes is a solid role player that I think has value as a deep rotation guy on a playoff team.

Another free agent (if he is one): Troy Daniels from the Grizzlies. Can light it up. Instant offense.

    then, shop Olaripo.

OKC is the only winning team I can think of where Melo actually makes sense … he would take pressure off Westbrook and give the team the "stretch 4" it desperately needs, but since he’d clearly be the second option hopefully there wouldn’t be the tension that apparently existed between Westrbook and Durant.

But I don’t know if Melo sees himself that way, or wants to live in OKC.

They could trade Kanter for Melo if Melo wanted to go there. I don’t know that any team wants Kanter, but if I’m the Knicks and know I’m going to suck next year anyway, maybe I take Kanter, let him average 20 and 10 for a season and then try to trade him again after his value’s gone up.

I want to see a Westbrook/Melo duo so bad now. Either way guaranteed to be entertaining. Make it happen Phil!

Just looking at free agents, I think Gordon Hayward would be a good fit. Someone who can shoot is going to have additional value playing next to Westbrook and Hayward gives them a shooter. Plus, Hayward is in his prime and if you are going to spend big money, you need someone who will still be the star next to Westbrook in three years.

of course d.rose, westbrook does everything when on the floor, when off the floor rose can continue to do what westbrook does for a dozen of minutes.

    just kidding.

Terrence Ferguson, in theory, could be a perfect fit. Great catch and shoot guy with lots of potential and natural ability. I believe he’ll go in the top 20.  Going overseas instead of going to college may have hurt his stock more than I believe.  I cant see OKC wasting a first round pick on him as he’s perceived as raw and OKC will be targetting players who they believe will contribute immediately as they want to give Russ as many reasons to stay as possible.

I think most ppl project ferguson as a 3 and D role player but I believe that his athleticism and shooting ability are so dynamic that anything is possible.  I dont know what kind of a kid he is or how his work ethic is perceived, but he could be a star.

It doesn’t really matter, he couldn’t win with Durant and Harden both on his team previously so I don’t think landing Griffin etc will make much difference…..
