Since we all are bored and have no NBA off-season!

    • Lets play a NBA style playoff elimination type of game, to determine the BEST player in NBA history.

    • We’ll do all NBA teams in the NBA right now, I’ll name the top 10 players in history from their respect-full teams. And then we will vote and determine the top player in their team history.

    • And don’t discriminate and be BIASED and say M.J. is the greatest in NBA history, cause he’s NOT, hes OVERRATED!

    • In no real or my order are these players in, I’m just naming the TOP 10 overall players in their team history.

    • We’ll do/vote for the best player of each teams in alphabetical order to determine who moves on to the NEXT round, If I leave any player out PLEASE feel free to shine in.

    • We’ll do the NEXT team who is the Boston Celts either later today or tomorrow!

    • We’ll start with the

    • Here is a list below of the top 10 players in Hawks history.

    1. Dominique Wilkins:
    2. Bob Pettit:
    3. Lenny Wilkens:
    4. Cliff Hagan:
    5. Kevin Willis:
    6. Mookie Blaylock:
    7. Tree Rollins:
    8. Moses Malone:

    9. Joe Johnson:

    10. Josh Smith:

This is a little pointless.  We don’t need a shortlist of 320 players to find the best player in NBA history.

    Don’t post.

JK…I don’t mean to be a dick but there is a reason why MJ is viewed damn near unanimously as the GOAT.  No player has ever been as dominant in the clutch on both sides of the ball as MJ.  He could carry a team on his own like no one before.  And he didn’t need to be a 7 ft tall bigman to do it.  He had the entire package.  Don’t over think.  I know people want to think outside the box and label another GOAT, but it is MJ for the time being.  There are other greats but MJ is the greatest and its no contest at this point.

He is overrated. Simply by looking at the above posts tell you that. When anyone even questions MJ’s spot as the GOAT people won’t defend MJ they just "you’re crazy" etc. MJ didn’t have the best stats that would be Magic, Oscar Robertson, Wilt. He didn’t have the most rings that would be Russell and Kareem also ties him with 6. If you look at stas he’s not the best and if you look at rings he’s not the best and if you say look at stats and rings then you still end up with Kareem as the best. I’m not saying MJ wasn’t the GOAT I’m just saying that if you break it down and have a conversation about it it is hard to defend the postion that he is the GOAT.

I guess Robert Horry is a better player than MJ cuz he has more rings.

You say if you look at the stats, it can’t be MJ. Which stats are you looking at? Have you looked at NBA finals stats? How many times was MJ on the NBA all defense team and first team in the same season? Did you know that MJ’s teams are 23-0 in playoffs series when they had home court advantage. To me, that’s kind of a cool stat. That means that when his team was expected to win, they NEVER lost. There are tons of stats, as well as, different ways to interpret them. What’s important to you when you evaluate a players career?

     Lets talk about stats.

I don’t see how Oscar Robertson’s career averages of 25.7 ppg 9.5 apg and 7.5 rpg or Magic Johnson’s 19.5 ppg 11.2 apg and 7.2 rpg is more impressive than Michael Jordan’s 30.1 ppg 5.4 apg and 6.2 rpg, especially considering that Michael Jordan was a far superior defender than those two.

Magic Johnson played at the same time as Jordan and said that Michael Jordan was the best player ever, and Kareem was his teammate.

Michael Jordan has the highest scoring average in NBA history, is 3rd in career points is 2nd in career steals and is 72nd in career games.  He was a dominant offensive force while at the same time being a dominant defensive force and won 6 titles, 6 finals MVP’s.

You guys have a strange definition of overrated.

Agree completely. Not to mention that Jordan dominated an era which had a much slower pace than the 60’s when Wilt and Oscar played in. When factoring in pace, MJ’s stats are even more impressive.

As for Russell being considered better due to winning more championships that’s also easy to defend in Jordan’s favor. Russell and his Celtics won most of their championships in a league with between 8 and 10 teams. Simple math; it’s easier to be the best team in a 10 team league than the best in a 27 team league.

Obviously, I agree that MJ is the goat. But that guy was right. You guys are all so ignorant. MJ is not THAT much better then everyone else. Not so much so, that you don’t even need to list a reason why he is the greatest and just call people crazy. I think you should defend why you think he is the greatest. He might be better then Magic, Bird, etc. but it is not like it is by this huge huge amount. I mean if you get a group of 4 equal players, then add MJ to one team and Wilt to another, it is not like MJ’s team would win EVERY single game. It is a lot closer than many of you realize and, although I do agree MJ is the GOAT, I think you need to atleast defend that and say why you believe so. I think some people may have better stats, some may have more championships, but when you put everything together, you get the total package, and that is what makes MJ the GOAT. EVERYTHING!

Of the all-time greats it is MJ first then, below that are Shaq, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Oscar Robertson, Russell, Jerry West, Kobe Bryant, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Tim Duncan.  MJ stands out from those other guys.  For the ranking of the next 6 or 7 guys you can flip a coin with Kobe, Hakeem, and Duncan also being right there.  MJ is in his own tier then you have those other guys.  In the third tier there are guys like Elgin Baylor, Moses Malone, Dr. J, Sir Charles, Stockton and Malone, who are first ballot Hall of Famers and top 20 all-time but just not up there with the other two groups.

My god, some of you just make me want to bang my head on the wall!

If MJ isn’t the greatest than who fuucking is!

I only got to see MJ once or twice very very late in his career, but even I know it’s not even close.

Durant’s Wingspan has somewhat of a point, but it depends on your perspective.

Other than his injury plagued 2nd season(18 games), the partial 95 season(17games) and the 2 Wizard seasons, he AVERAGED 28 points a game every single freakin season! 33-8-8 with 3 steals and a block a game is THE greatest season since 1988. He was the ultimate all around player. The only player that I would even consider even coming close is Kareem. Not Magic, not Larry, not Nique, and defiantly not Lebron. Do some reasearch before you post such basphemous intelectual insults.

And you might want to take a look at basketball reference, and do some reasearch once in a while http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jordami01.html

It’s ignorant to say MJ is overrated. To question whether or not he was the best basketball player ever is understandable. KAJ had just as good stats, better longevity, as many indivudal accolades, and as many titles. Personally, KAJ was the best basketball player, but IMO, it takes more thabn being the best to be the GOAt. It’s more than what MJ did on the court that puts him atop the rest. He took the game and made it cool for EVRYONE. If you ask the common person on the street who the best basketball player ever is, they say MJ whether they watched him even once. It’s a legacy that has taken control of the world with his charisma on and off the court. He’s a figure that is very marketable and very likable. A role-model for parenbts to have their children look up to(even though he’s an addicted gambler who is a fornicator lol).

BTW, not to go off what I’m saying, but does anyone have MJ’s record’s without Pippen?

Still, MJ is the Goat, will be no matter what. Doesn’t matter if a guy like Kobe wins 10 titles, he just isn’t MJ. The legacy has grown so large that no matter what anyone accomplishes from here on out, it will never be good enough to compare to what MJ did. It kills me though to talk about MJ really on here though, because a large portion of the people on this site were simply too young to have actually watched MJ play, and are simply going off of highlight vids and what others have said before them. Those who actually got to watch him live, we are the true lucky ones. Highlight videos and full game coverage nowm, just doesn’t have the same meaning or feel of watching a real LIVE MJ comeback.

Dont even bring up MJ’s records without Pippen because 47 of the nba’s 50 greatest players of all time played with another member of that list at one time or another during their career. And those 3 are Isiah Thomas, George Mikan and Patrick Ewing and obviously none of those 3 are the GOAT.

You needa slow your role, it was a simple question. A question I was genuinely wondering. And how bout you answer that question or tell me about some games of MJ that YOU actually saw live. Because I hate to break it to you, but Pippen has a better playoff record without Jordan than Jordan does without Pippen.

Again, it simply a legitimate question.
