Everyone on this site hates you. Stop making retarded posts every 5 minutes. All I have to do is read the title and I know it’s one of your pointless posts. You have been annoying, stupid and at times down right offensive. There’s no room for you on this site.

The 80’s small forwards would give ANY small forwards from ANY era a run for their money.

Larry Bird.  The All Around GOAT along with Magic until Jordan showed up.  STILL has more rings than LeBron and was better known as a shooter.  UNTIL LeBron gets at least 3 rings then Bird is still the GOAT Small Forward.

Dr. J was Dr. J.  Kept TWO leagues in business.  Great athlete, great scorer.  Took SEVERAL Philly teams to the Finals and won an MVP.  Moses Malone helped put him over the top.  WHY is Durant BETTER than Dr. J?  Yeah, Durant can shoot and score possibly as well as or better than ANYONE, but look at the numbers, the stats, the winning, and the accolades.  Dr. J was Dr. J.

Dominique Wilkins could SCORE.  From anywhere but mostly mid-range and in.  Could dunk on ANYONE from ANYWHERE.  The guy has about 26,000 points.  His Hawks never broke through but they had a few solid teams with him.  Probably the flashiest "underrated" guy in NBA history.

James Worthy.  Could win at ANY level.  Played some 4, like Bird.  Had a Finals MVP.  If he is the fourth best small forward in your era then it is a pretty good era.

Best of the Rest: Alex English — SCORER!  Has a scoring title.  I think he could rebound too.  Or, that was Adrian Dantley.  A guy who could SCORE, and also win scoring titles and went to the the NBA Finals.  Marques Johnson was good.  That white dude on Denver who looked like Jerry Seinfeld… oh yeah, Kelly Tripuka.  Michael Cooper was more of a 6th man, and probably more of a 2 guard but he could DEFEND and also hit some 3’s.  Jamaal Wilkes, the small forward on the Showtime Lakers BEFORE James Worthy. Chris Mullin was a mid-80’s guy who played on a high octane Warriors team but he could really fill it up too.  Probably peaked in the early 90’s.

     Oh, dude.

    Almost forgot.

Yeah the 1985 season might have been the best year for SF ever:

Larry Bird (28.7 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 6.6 APG)

    Bernard King (32.9 PPG, 53 FG%)

    Alex English (27.9 PPG, 4.2 APG, 52 FG%)

    Adrian Dantley (26.6 PPG, 53 FG%)

    Dominique Wilkins (27.4 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 45 FG%)

James Worthy (17.6 PPG, 57 FG%, just 23 years old and starting to move up the ladder)

    Kiki Vandeweghe (22.4 PPG, 53 FG%, 90 FT%)

    Mark Aguirre (25.7 PPG, 50.6 FG%)

Julius Erving (20 PPG at 34 years of age, starting to trend downwards but still very good)

    Kelly Tripucka (19.1 PPG, 48 FG%, 89 FT%)

Not to mention the often forgotten Paul Pressey (one of the original point forwards) who averaged 16.1 PPG, 6.8 APG and 5.4 RPG for a 59 win Milwaukee team.

yes this 80’s list looks dynamite. top to bottom ill give em the edge. def both eras kick the crap out of 90’s and early 2000’s. but the top four right now id put against anyone.

Yeah I definitely agree with that. The top 4 right now also have stronger all-around games compared to most of the guys on that list. Erving was also on his way out while some younger guys like ‘Nique and Worthy were just starting to become All-Star caliber players. If you include Melo, Wiggins, Hayward and Gay to the 4 top guys this era gets even more impressive.

I agree that his posts are almost always garbage, but I feel like this one was actually a good talking point. I mean, I don’t agree with what he said, but it’s not like he made this to twist it around and talk about Ben Simmons or Kelly Olynyk

You can’t argue with the TOP small forwards now — LeBron, Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and then even Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Butler.

BUT, the 80’s guys give you a run for your money at the TOP of the list and the MIDDLE of the list.

Taking a look at the ENTIRE decade, you had a guy like George Gervin who played some 2 in the ABA but played either position in the NBA, mostly a small forward, though, later on in his career.  The Iceman, as we all know, could FINGER ROLL.

Walter Davis was good.  He actually came into the league with Bernard King and Marques Johnson.

Jerome Kersey was solid.  Maybe more of a late Eighties guy.

Same with Pippen although he really blew up in the Nineties.  Comparable as far as length, toughness, strength, rebounding, defense, and intangibles to Kawhi Leonard.  With Pip being the better ball handler and passer, while Kawhi is a better 3 point shooter, and perhaps a better overall shooter in general.

Craig Ehlo was kind of a 3 and D guy on those Cavs teams.  Also a 2 but played the 3.  Along with Michael Cooper he was an example of a role playing small forward (3 and D) back in the day.

    Robert Reid was good.

Danny Manning got their late, but technically he was an 80’s guy, right?

Even the late great Reggie Lewis came into the league in the 80’s.  I think he came in on that 86’87 Celtics team.  Basically a small forward but also played some 2.

Those are most of the impact guys, although I probably left out some defensive wing specialists and then your 3 point snipers.  Cliff Levinston, Bobby Hansen, Reggie Williams, for different reasons.  Then another point forward in Rodney McCray.

Technically speaking, even Dennis Rodman started at small forward on some of those Bad Boys teams.

Mike Mitchell was the Spurs SF in the 80s. Which reminds me that I totally forgot Mitchell from my previous list. He averaged a team high 22.2 PPG in 1985. Which was the only time Gervin played for the Spurs that he did not lead the team in scoring. He finished his career with 19.8 PPG.

The top level centers aren’t great.  BUT, there are a lot of very solid centers out there.  Not too many starting stiffs.  There are even some solid backup centers out there.
