LazarusMunozParticipantI think Space Jam is pretty realisitic for a cartoon movie…I like that scene where MJ and Porky Pig are in the strip club getting there drink on after practice

doubledribblerParticipantHow about the movie White Men Can’t Jump (Tell that to Brent Barry back in the day)? That was a really good movie. It wasn’t completely about basketball, but it played a big part in the story.

doubledribblerParticipantHow come somebody (mikenike) has to turn something into more than what it is? It’s the name of a movie, relevant to the topic. The title also being extremely relevant to a part of the movie as well as to an extremely funny scene. Woody Harrelson seemed to be fine with it. I’m guessing you must go into the group of people that can’t jump. There are plenty of people that can jump, there are plenty people that can shoot and the color of someone’s skin has absolutely nothing to do with it. As for you, anyone can hit a wide open jumper…it gets a little bit harder when someone is up in your face trying to do it.
As for everyone else, Hoosiers was a classic and Blue Chips is a highly underrated movie. It is very relevant to what we see today. I’m thinking it might be time to do a remake maybe?

draftnikParticipantHe Got Game, Glory Road, and Blue Chips are my favorites by far. Also, Space Jam is up there, but not quite top 3 quality. One thing for sure, I’m tired of hearing Hooisers. I mean, the movie’s a classic no doubt, but to me, it’s kinda overrated.

cp33ParticipantHeres my top 5. This is just my opinion though.
5. Coach Carter- The real coach carter kinda lost respect for me when he became a Slamball coach, but I love any coach who can turn around a crappy program and help kids stay off the streets.
4. Blue Chips-Has it all. Shaq, should have won an oscar, lol, jk. Funny movie tho.
3. He got game- Just watching Ray Allen at the beginning shooting the ball made this movie for me. Great story and the acting was good.
2. Air Up There- Don’t know exactly why I love this movie, but I did. actually wanna buy it now.
1. Glory Road- True story and it was a very entertaining movie.

mikeyvthedonParticipantI have seen just about every basketball movie their is, and Hoop Dreams is just an incredible film. Amazing story and concept, it is just incredible how the story unfolded for William Gates and Arthur Agee. It touches on so many different themes and shows just how difficult it really is to live out the dream of being an NBA or even a professional basketball player. I read the book as well, which had tremendous insight into their lives and of course the incredible quote by William Gates where someone said, “Remember me when you make it” and he replied “Remember me if I don’t.” Amazing. A must see for basketball fans and film fans alike.
I also watched Hoosiers all the way through for the first time, and have to say it is a fantastic film. If you are not teary eyed at the end when Gene Hackman says “I love you guys”, than you are a stronger person than I am. When I was a kid, I loved the Air Up There, and Space Jam also brings back great memories. Blue Chips of course had Shaq and Penny, but even I felt that it was kind of a lame movie, however realistic it might have been. I would also have to say Above the Rim is a personal favorite of mine and brings back good memories, plus the Death Row soundtrack was quite nice 🙂
