Nic Batum is getting paid. He can do it all but 120 million sounds steep for a guy you want at best to be your third best player. These contracts are getting ridiculous this off season.

Is Evan Fournier going to get 100 million? Is JR Smith going to get 75 million?

Yep expensive summer for almost every team…

Oh and it wasn’t 100 mio for Evan ‘only’ 85 mio for 4 years which seems fair considering other players as Solomon Hill or especially Parsons. I think the Grizzlies desperately wanted to add some shooting but Parsons actually declined as a shooter after he left the Rockets a few years ago.

Parsons shot 37% from 3 in his 3 seasons as a Rocket, and 39.5% in his two seasons as a Mav. He’s a lot more fragile, but his shooting isn’t worse.

looked it up and you’re right, my bad.

I could have sworn his overall FG % and outside shooting was down last time when I looked it up but exactly like you said. That must mean I’m just not a fan of his flat arching shot.

They might want to bring back the amnesty clause. I can’t wrap my head around 3th/4th option players being the highest paid players in the league

And there goes the chance of the Thunder to resign KD for less then the max to help a small market team like the Thunder compete without being totally into the luxery tax.

The Grizzlies just threw 95 million at Parsons and reportedly 153 million at Conley – wait what?????? That’s a quarter billion dollars for two 2nd/3rd string players compared to their position.

The Kanter and Tristan Thompson deals look better and better this summer and the Greg Monroe contract looks almost like a bargain now.

I really don’t want to know what Dion Waiters and Oladipo want to earn going forward not to mention Steven Adams…

Damn this is totally fkng crazy!!!!

This specific situation is primarily because Michael Jordan either doesn’t have an idea how to build a team, or is too greedy and impatient to build one. You build a championship team through the draft FIRST, free agency second. End of story. For all his faults, this is what Sam Hinkie understood at the core of his "Process". If you don’t build through the draft, you WILL end up overpaying very good role players (i.e. our whole team).  If my Hornets aren’t a lottery team next year, we will be suffering yet another meaningless first round exit at the hands of a team with a true superstar.

I would think salary structure would stay the same and increased cap room would mean signing more players.  Instead of tying up more money a few players.  Oh well, get ya money.

The Hornets have lost Jefferson, Lin, almost certainly Lee and probably Williams.

I think it’s a positive they got Batum to stay, but they need something to flip them out of the pack. A good draft, a free agent or trade.

Coach Clifford, Kemba, Bellinelli, Batum , MKG and Kaminsky are all the right guys for a deep run, but they need about 10 more players (role players and at least one star), as well as better management & off court support.
