McDunkinBaron Davis will sign with the Philadelphia 76ers’ D-League affiliate as he continues his NBA comeback.
Davis suffered complete tears of his ACL, MCL and patellar tendon in his right knee in the 2012 NBA Playoffs and has been out of the NBA ever since.
No D-League team had signed Davis until he planned to join the Delaware 87ers, which has lost guards Jordan McRae (Cleveland) and Sean Kilpatrick (Brooklyn) to NBA call-ups.
Delaware will sign Davis assuming he arrives in shape.

CynthiaParticipantGood for him. May not ever actually make it back in the NBA but at least he’s trying again. Very entertaining player and one of my all time favourites. I wouldn’t mind if a contender picked him up as a bottom of the bench/player coach and give him a chance at a ring.

Hype MachineB-Diddy was one of those guys who you could tell had fun when he played. Injuries always held him back….he kinda had that Gilbert Arenas carefree approach to his game…minus the lunacy.
He has lots of opportunities since leaving the NBA in film and media. Hes quite a smart guy with a dry sense of humour.
He can’t play in the NBA again….but the NBA shouldnt dictate when a players career is over. I’ve seen guys like Al Harrington play overseas in their older years and love it. Its nothing to feel sorry for like the Steve Francis poster above suggested

circumlocution75Participant& it’s amazing to look back & remember that allowing Davis to walk in Free Agency was actually the beginning of the Golden State Warriors rebuild that yielded the Phenominal NBA CHampion Juggernaut we see today…….
Byron Davis was the Star on Golden State’s 48 win team that barely missed the playoffs….. But was cause for excitement in the Golden State fan base…… Davis, Stephen Jackson & young Monta Ellis All averaged 20+ ppg…… & w/ players like Al Harrington….. & youngsters Andris Beadrins (avg nearly a double double 10pts & 9.5 reb as a 21 y/o) & 21 y/o Marco Belinelli to go w/ the 22 y/o Monta Ellis…… Warriors fans had reason to hope…..
But like most moves by the former Owner Cohan era, GSW hitched their star to the wrong wagon & when team President Robert Rowell overruled then GM Chris Mullen & allowed Davis to walk…. & Build around Monta Ellis instead…..
The team plummeted from 48 wins to 29 wins a year later & solid core players like Al Harrington & other role players wanted out…. but that free fall led Back to the Lottery & the Beginning of Salvation when GSW Drafted Stephen Curry #7 overall in the 2009 NBA Draft……
Over the Next 4 years that began w/ the 29 win 2009 season, GSW won 26, 36 & finally 23 games in 2012….. The Warriors had laid the foundation for the Title winning squad of today…. In 2010 GSW swung & missed by Drafting Ekpe Oduh #6 overall but in 2011 GSW picked Klay Thompson #11 overall…… & in 2012 – by trading away Ellis & holding on to their first round top 7 protected pick w/ some artful tanking – ……. GSW Drafted Harrison Barnes #7 overall…….. & w/ a 2nd round pick from the Nets for taking on Troy Murphy’s $11 Million Salary….. The Warriors drafted Draymond Green #35 overall…
GSW jumped from 23 wins in 2012 to 47 wins in 2013…… & then the final piece of the puzzle – Andre Igudola – who was cut by the Nuggets after being part of the Summer of 2012 – Four team Mega-deal that moved Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum & others – was signed by GSW…. & in 2014 GSW jumped to 51 wins but lost in 7 games in round 1 of the playoffs to the Clippers….
But then in 2014/15 season, GSW switched coaches & plugged Draymond Green into a line up that formerly relied of David Lee down low….. & the small ball line up was born…… Since Steve Kerr became coach the Warrior’s record is an Incredible 121 – 20…… & are a Heavy Favorite to win back to back NBA Titles…. but it ALL began w/ the decision to let Byron Davis walk in FA 7 & 1/2 years ago…..

Chilbert arenasParticipantI know it won’t happen but I would like to see the GSW sign him so he can chase that illusive ring. Note I know this would require cutting Ian Clark and won’t happen.
