So 5 star high school senior Edrice "bam" Adebayo commits to kentucky. Another big time recruit for the cats, and another recruiting class that will compete for the top spot. This might be the 1st post I have ever made regarding high school ball, and its simple because I have been sorely disappointed with the development and play of the majority of these young ballers over the past half decade. Still, I hear he has a high motor plenty of defensive capability and potential in general, but I need to see for myself.

The big issue I have is how many bigs are going to be at Kentucky next year? Bam, humpries, wynard, Willis, gabriel, killeya-jones, and will Marcus Lee stay or go pro?  Obviously bam will be at top of the pecking order but still, it leads me to ponder the idea of do these guys going to Kentucky think about getting time on the court before going there? I would think some of these guys would want to shine on their own. I know one could say they go to Kentucky to develop as a pro prospect and or win, but if your good enough and want it bad enough you will make it professionally regardless & winning the college championship isn’t a guarantee for going to kentucky.

There are definitely pros and cons for going to UK but the major pro is that you play against pros every single day at practice. That is when kids get better correct? Playing at UK you have no choice but to get better as a basketball player. Lets not forget, Cal had 5 bigs last year and it worked out well for him (I know, it helps when your bigs go 1, 6, 12 in the first round).

Regarding next year, Gabriel and Willis can and will play on the wing, with Bam, Humphries, and Lee, if he stays, at the low post. You will also have Killeya-Jones as your stretch big man. Wynard will be the odd man out but still brings insurance if need be.

Kentucky will be just fine next year, they always are, besides 2013.

I also think Cal is trying to change his program around a bit so he’s not as reliable on just one and done players.  He’s trying to put together huge classes so some of these guys can stay, develop, and be a star in the coming years.  I think that’s why he’s starting Marcus Lee this year. So he can pitch to high schoolers that he had both Cauley-Stein and Marcus Lee stay for 3 years and both were still 1st round picks; however, I don’t personally think Marcus Lee is a 1st round talent.

I think it’s cause Duke and then some other random school for example Cal last year, have become a big target for many one and done recruits.

So much freaking politics in this post.  Not saying you aren’t correct.  It just boggles my mind how much of a sales pitch UK has become.  Everything Cal does is carefully orchestrated to market UK, and it is working.

FWIW, I have seen Bam play a lot of times.  I don’t think he is a one and done.  I think he is a two to three year player.  Too raw offensively to make the jump right now.

I think if UK can get Rawle or Monk now, because Harry tore his acl, id give UK class gets the upper hand over Duke. Funny how like two days ago ppl were saying Duke was a lock to win a chip a few days ago.
