City of Palms high school tournament is among the top high school tournaments year in and year out.Plenty of few college stars and NBA players. Just wanted to know if any members live in the area and attended any games within the last few days and what do they think. From what I have read and some of the game tape I have seen Ben Simmons from the 2015 and Isaiah Whitehead from the 2014 class seem to be the best players there.

Simmons is committed to LSU and a projected one and done for the 2016 nba draft. His debut at city of palms he went for 31 and 13. 6’9 do it all forward

Whitehead has signed to Seton Hall and is their biggest recruit in a decade. His debut was a 36 point outing. He is leading the tournament in scoring at 29.5 so far.He and his team actually faced Ben Simmons and Montvered Academy last night and forced the game into overtime, where Motverde eventually pulled out the win.Montverde was a heavy favorite, but Lincoln high school played them really tough. Scout.com has Whitehead Ranked as the Number 1 SG in the nation and at first I thought maybe they went overboard. I felt he was top 3 but maybe they just may be right. Kid is a warrior, and takes it to everyone.

Seen some of Simmons highlights and from having seen him before, think very highly of his prospects. Honestly believe he could be the best player in the Class of 2015, he is #1 for me right now. Saw Ivan Rabb kill Stephen Zimmerman on TV last night, yet still do not think he has the overall skill set of a Ben Simmons.

The Finals were the two teams I expected, Montverde vs. Paul VI. Seems like Montverde has really been challenged, though they obviously are chock full of talent. Paul VI will not be easy, that team is stacked. Both of them are missing their likely 2nd best players, as Franklin Howard is out for Paul VI and D’Angelo Russell is missing for Montverde. Paul VI has a lot of young talent, they really know how to play and stretch the floor well.

Saw these two squads face off last year at the Bass Pro Tournament. Kevin Dorsey hit the game winner to help Paul VI pull the upset over the at the time #1 ranked Montverde. Was Dorsey’s 2nd in consecutive games, have him back. Paul VI has Marcus Derrickson, who is a big body who can shoot it from all over the floor. Have a really deep guard rotation, mostly sophomores and juniors, plus big Quadree Smith down low. Still have Dorsey, too, he is just a junior. Howard was huge in that game last year, though it seems it has allowed [Player: Josh Reaves] to step up in his absence.

Montverde still should be the favorite, though the plot sounds so much like last year. Montverde has almost a completely different team, think only Justin Bibbs and Jaylyn Patterson are guys who played minutes for Montverde last year. Simmons was still in street clothes, he of course should be damn hard to handle. Chris Egi, Ahmaad Rorie and Makinde London all should be really tough match-ups as well. Hoping to catch this game, should be an excellent match-up, much like last years meeting with these two squads.

How do you feel about Isaiah Whitehead and how he will influence Seton Hall and his prospects of being a 1st rounder in a year or two in college?
