JCliff24ParticipantAs much as I’ve grown to hate this term "Multiple sources" are now saying Cleveland are the only team the Wolves are in talks with. Is there any scenario where you see the TImberwolves giving up Love without Wiggins included in the package?

NCarmean18ParticipantNo. Wiggins is their guy.

ExumInfernoParticipantA year ago, before the 2013 NBA Draft, Cleveland offered the top pick plus Waiters and T Thompson and Minnesota were not impressed. The Cavs picked Bennett with the pick, and I don’t think him and Waiters and Thompson will get the deal done today for Love. Except for Wiggins, the Cavs don’t have anything to really offer.
Wiggins plus cap-clearing contracts has to be the deal. So Wiggins and LeBron and Love and Irving playing together has to be close to impossible, right now. The other way is waiting for next offseason, Varejao and Haywood would expire to clear money, Waiters or Thompson could be traded for a draft pick to clear mroe money, the Cavs could find a way to sign Love as a free agent.
So there is a scenario or two where Love and Wiggins are on the same Cleveland team, either the Cavs wait and try to get him as a free agent or Minnesota decides to panic and for some reason just takes a trade of Bennett, Waiters, Thompson and future picks which would seem like a bad deal compared to what some other teams were offering.
One interesting and overlooked piece, assuming Minnesota do get Wiggins does it mean Kevin Martin is going out in another big trade? Martin could be someone to score plenty of quick points for a contender.
Lots of interesting stuff and people can have a countdown clock for when Wiggins is eligible to be traded.

nick5354ParticipantI have a feeling the reason why Cavs are now the only team in the running is because Love might not sign on anywhere other then Cleveland and he has requested a trade (not sure if this is confirmed or what not).
So Minny will not be able to get Thompson from GSW, or Gibson and Mcbuckets as Love looks like he may not want to remain with their team, and in turn lease him for a season.
No need to give up Wiggins if this is true, so yes. Minny will not want to give up Love for nothing, and very might have to take a offer which comprises of different combinations of Benneet, Thompson, Waiters along with Cavs multiple first rounder.

Mr. HookShotParticipantI feel like Minnesota’s front office cannot trade Love unless they have something (Wiggins) to show for it. They might fear the potential backlash (from fans, media, current team) if they would trade Love for a package excluding Wiggins.

NeggedNoelSaricgiving them that haul net them the best trade of any star on the final year of a deal in the last decade
better then the chris paul, melo, harden and howard
kevin love is viewed as a once in a life time player his stats have never been seen before.
but he also has some other stats with kevin love the wolves had one season over 31 wins,no playoffs
in the 4th quarter he averages 4 points and a below league average 13 PER.
hes a good player but I heard someone say when LeBron left he was signed and traded for two late first round picks.
THE BEST PLAYER IN THE NBA ,FINALS MVP ,SEASON MVP, 2 TIME CHAMP,
only got 2 first round picks in a sign an trade YOU WOLVES FANS ARE VERY PICKY TO HOLD LITTLE LEVARGE I DONT THINK LOVE SIGNS A DEAL WITH GS OR BULLS their championship odds are murky for present and future.
cavs are a great fit and you know he will get to the finals some point with LeBron, kyrie , and last but not least wiggins and co lol
STAND PAT DONT TRADE WIGGINS let the wolves get nothing back but their very own late lottery pick.
imagine the backlash when you guys get nothing in return.
I wish everyday you wolves fans get burned for being so greedy

phila9012ParticipantYes us loyal wolves deserve to get burned. I have watched them waste lottery pick after lottery pick on busts. We traded brandon roy for randy foye. We watched flynn be out of the NBA in 3 years who we drafted over stephen curry, who has become an all star. Then watch our team proceed to draft 2 more PGs after we already drafted 2. We watched our team draft wesley johnson 4th and had to give up a first round pick to trade him away 2 years later. We watched our team draft derrick williams and trade him away 2 years later for luc mbah a moute. Then to have to give up the 10th pick in the 2012 draft for marco jaric in a trade they made 7 years earlier Yes us loyal fans deserve to get burned. I will always be a timberwolves fan, no matter how hard it is to root for them because one day when we are good it will feel great to have stuck with them through all these &$#%#&@! years, the wolves management may deserve to get burned but the fa definitely don’t deserve to get burned

HitsterParticipantIf the season starts and we are getting nearer to deaddline day and K-Love is still making it perfectly clear he will not resign with the T-Wolves and say they are not in a clear play off spot then any sort of reasonable offer from the Cavs would probably look more attractive than K-Love walking away and the T-Wolves getting nothing. A combination of 2 out of 3 from Thompson, Bennett and Waiters would at least give the T-Wolves some good young players to pair with Martin, Rubio, Pek and co.
One thing that hasn’t really been discussed is what is K-Love’s attitude to signing as a FA on a possible max deal of 4 years at aprox $70.275 million compared to the 5 year deal that the T-Wolves or any team owning his Bird rights could offer next summer. I calculate this at aprox $92.45 million over 5 years. K-Love is a multimillionaire and at worse gets a big deal but he didn’t get a 5 year renewal previously and might want to maximize his earnings this time.

AlvinRobertsonsQuadrupleDoubleParticipantThe thought here locally in MN is that Martin will be kept for his scoring on the perimeter. It’s either Wiggins or bust, the Wolves don’t want Bennett/Thompson/Waiters because they feel cap room is more valuable than any of those guys.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThey have a Proven player and All star in Kevin Love, who can’t be signed outright by any of the Teams of his “wishlist”
I think people are upset Minnesota has some leverage? It seems like everybody wants the Cavaliers and LeBron James to just outright steal away Kevin Love for average prospects like Bennett and Thompson, forming another Big 3 plus Andrew Wiggins and Dion Waiters…
SMH, the Wolves don’t have to trade him at all this season, He is under contract to PLAY! Let him wait until the off season to make a decision, everyone was sure that Carmelo would leave 30 million dollars on the table and leave to LA, Chicago or Houston, he kept his ass home and got paid the Maximum Amount…
I believe Kevin Love is a great player but I’m not rooting for him, LeBron and Cavs to make a mockery of the NBA again, I would rather cheer on the Spurs, Magic, Jazz, 76ers, Wolves, and etc etc,…
To answer the OP’s question, sure I can see the Wolves being forced to trade away a Superstar for nothing(Bennett and Waiters equals nothing IMO) and than everyone of you front running SONS OF BITCHES can cheer on the new Cavs and act like you’ve always been Cleveland fans…
This entire Love trade has made me sick to my stomach and every year I have to ask myself why I even follow the sport…

NeggedLoveTradeRantertheir being greedy
you said they don’t have to trade him IM PRAYING THEY DONT I WISH THEY DONT TRADE LOVE AND HES WALK
cavs can out right sign him run the numbers and the cap increase next year where theres a will there is a way.
plus sign and trade teams are willing to help . sixers can out right sign love and send him to Cleveland for a few picks or a dion waiters. Utah can do so to and did it before by sign n trade sending iggy to gs very overlooked FACT
why do you guys not think about this?
as I said 3 players would have to be sent to the wolves and picks for a player who is leaving.
the only trade I can see that made sense was the chris paul deal AND THE HORNETS DIDNT GET THAT MUCH BACK they traded paul to the clippers because MOST LIKELY HE WOULDNT HAVE WENT THERE IN FREE AGENCY so the clippers gave up a young Eric Gordon because they had NOOOOOOOOOOOOO chance of landing paul in free agency. paul played there and love it
DIFFERENCE IS CAVS HAVE THE BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT CHANCE OF LANDING LOVE IN FREE AGENCY that’s the big difference it the number one destination for love if he wants to win. which is what he wants.
melo, paul, harden, howard, even LeBron lol didn’t get that much in a trade leading to their free agency.
the difference betwee melo and love is melo has been in new York since 2010 he loves it their his wife is on multiple tv shows BASED IN NEWYORK they threw him a 120 million deal on top of that hes kids loves it there. in he may have came to grips he wont win a ship hes ageing so he took the best thing for his life other then basketball.
LOVE DOESNT WANT TO BE IN MINN HE ISNT STAYING HOME HE WANTS TO WIN A SHIP MUCH MORE THEN PLEASING A WIFE AND FAMILY .
Love is young and has a better chance to win a ship then melo if he joins the cavs.
I promise this is my last post on this topic until love is on the cavs or enters free agency.
how can you sit and say you support the wolves when they have messed up year after year with front office moves its not the players its not the smart fans its the dumb fans and front office that makes me mad.
im not a cav fan parse but being a fan of the nba Its highway robbery if hes leaving anyway.
like I said LeBron was traded and only netted 2 late first rounders.
paul got al faruq- aminu, a pick that turned into Austin rivers and Eric Gordon ( they most likely will not have none of these players in a year or two) production wise NOT MUCH
don’t cave in better players got far less then what the wolves are demanding. 3 players have to go out and picks

After that you decided that the Cavs would just pull a sign and trade out of their ass.
On top of that you say that the Cavs are giving up too much because the Heat only gave up a couple late 1st round picks for Lebron!!!!!!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????!!!!!!!!!!!

AlvinRobertsonsQuadrupleDoubleParticipantHis cap number, even though he’s still on his rookie deal, is still not worth what he is. The Wolves would rather have the $5M in cap room than acquire him, what potential does he have left? At least with Bennett there’s some semblance of potential there, he’s still farily unproven, and even if he doesn’t pan out his option for 2015-16 can be declined.

HitsterParticipantThe power is currently with the T-Wolves but as time ticks down towards the trade deadline then this will decline.
With Paul George being out, the Pacers are likely to fall back next season so Cleveland will probably be even more confident that they will be the best team out East so they may not persue the deal so much. Although they would still have to get past the best of the West eventually to win a title.
