NBAjunkie81ParticipantW/ the Men’s NCAA basketball season starting soon I’m really excited to see all the potential picks in Next June’s 2016 NBA Draft play at this Level… But it also makes me think back to what we missed last March when Kentucky failed to get past Wisconsin…
Who do you guys like to meet in this year’s Championship?
& No disrespect to the great season Wisconsin had last season, but anyone else wish we could have seen that dream match up of Duke vs Kentucky & Okafor vs Townes? & if yes, who do you think would have won?

Memphis MadnessParticipantI wished we could have gotten that Duke vs. Kentucky final.
That is the final I had predicted all year and I had Kentucky over Duke in my bracket.
I think Duke would have won. Okafor is tough to guard, and the perimeter attack of Duke was superior to Kentucky’s (in my opinion). Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow made all the right moves and cover a lot of areas, then Grayson Allen had a phenomenal performance off the bench in the title game. And, Amile Jefferson, and Plumlee 3.0 were underrated in my opinion.
For Kentucky, I think KAT and WCS got in each other’s way. If Towns can shoot from outside why didn’t he do that this year? That is what they needed… WCS as the alley-oop guy inside with KAT outside shooting jumpers in pick and pops. I thought the spacing was bad… KAT didn’t have enough of a refined post game to hog the paint and essentially neutralize WCS and the rest of the Kentucky attack.
Not sure the Kentucky attack was as great from top to bottom as we were led to believe. I think that maybe the SEC was down, and that the Wildcats overachieved.
Too many guys on the Kentucky team and no guy who was a flat-out superstar (even Towns). I think they had a GREAT point guard on the roster if they could have combined Andrew Harrison and Tyler Ulis. Best combo point guard attack Coach Cal has had since Derrick Rose and Andre Allen at Memphis, but AA was a more experienced guy with better intangibles and D Rose was D Rose… even then you had a bunch of juniors on that team, Chris Douglas-Roberts was the stud scorer, and Antonio Anderson was more of the leader on the floor.
Aaron Harrison was very good as was Devin Booker. I think that they really needed a small forward. Losing Poythress hurt but he is more of an undersized 4 anyway. Still not sure what Trey Lyles does.
Duke was underrated. Maybe not typically underrated but they flew more under the radar with the Kentucky ‘cats flying high. But, as others pointed out all year, Duke’s A+ game was better than anyone’s.
Kentucky had too many guys that had overlapping skill sets. Duke had a guy at each spot who knew what to do. Jah and Tyus Jones was a great 2 man combo, Winslow was a one man wrecking crew when he got it going. Grayson Allen was great. Even their other wing player was solid. Was it Matt Jones?
This year’s dream matchup would probably still be Kentucky vs. Duke. Kentucky still has a bunch of guys, but maybe only if Skal qualifies. Duke is still Duke with Jefferson, Allen, and Plumlee back.
It might not be 39-0 vs. Jahlil Okafor but a defending champ in Duke vs. a loaded Kentucky team coming off a 38-1 season is still as good as it gets.
Second place: Gonzaga vs. basically anybody. If you wanna do a Gonzaga vs. a traditional power then either Kentucky or Duke in that other spot.
So, Dream Matchup: Duke vs. Kentucky.
Good vs. Evil: Gonzaga vs. Louisville.
3rd Place Best Available Title Game: Arizona vs. Michigan State.

Sam_HinkieParticipantI’d probably say that the combo of John Wall and Eric Bledsoe was better than both Aaron Harrison/Tyler Ulis and Derrick Rose/Andre Allen.

SubZeroParticipantWell I’m a Kentucky fan, so obviously I wish they would’ve at least made it to the Final. And beating Duke would’ve made it one of the sweetest victories I’d ever experienced…but Sam Dekker decided we should lose so we did
If I could pick this year, I’d probably go Kentucky, Duke, LSU, and Oklahome/Gonzaga

DukeDaSquadParticipantAs a duke fan, I was hoping for Kentucky to lose every time they played during the tournament just so duke wouldn’t have to face them. I think Kentucky would have beat duke easily last year. I don’t think any of their guys could guard Jahlil 1v1 but they would have found a way to double him to the point where he would have little impact offensively. I also think that wcs would give Winslow fits 1v1. Kentucky just had the size advantage and athletic advantage

adumParticipantI think there’s a chance we can see UNC vs Duke in the final four especially if they are Both number 1 seeds.
How crazy would that be? The amount of press and hype for that matchup would be insane.

ncballerAs a UNC fan, I don’t know if my heart could take that. Haha. Physically and emotionally.
In regards to the original question, I don’t think that last years Duke team matched up well with UK. (I say this at the risk of me being negged due to it being open knowledge I am a UNC homer)
I think Duke would have had to have nearly shot lights out from 3 over the UK length from the perimeter to do it.
Okafor was a hoss in college, but keep in mind in the tourney he had struggled a little bit when facing similar size and strength. I think he would have struggled against KAT and WCS, offensively. Thinking of Jeffersen and Plumlee against them is objectively a huge advantage to UK.
Jones would have to try and dribble around a 6’6 Harrison or a 5’9 Ullis (who gave him hell on the AAU circuit).
Where Duke might have had an advantage would be with Winslow slashing, but there would always be an apt shot blocker waiting for him.
Just my 2 cents.

mgreener_34ParticipantNaa to be honest I want to see the best TEAMS play ball, not the best players. I watch the NBA for that. I look back at all the memorable final 4’s or final games, and not many of them include are two powerhouses. The two Butler finals were awesome games, last years game was great, and ect. ect. I just want to see who plays the best basketball, not who had the best recruiting class.
But with that being said, this year I really want to see a UConn vs. Wichita St. Wichita’s best players are seniors this year in Baker and VanVleet, and they have been a fun team to watch over the past couple of seasons. They had that great run lsat year, and I would love to see them do it again.
On a dream scenerio, with all homerism aside, I think a Wichita St. vs Utah final would just be incredible basketball to watch.
