tli232"CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers have promoted Mike Gansey to director of development league operations.
Gansey served last season as basketball operations assistant, a position he will retain. In his new role, the 29-year-old Gansey will work closely with Cavs vice president David Griffin and Canton Charge (NBA D-League) coach Alex Jensen on personnel matters. Griffin oversees the Charge’s operations, and Jensen’s role in personnel will expand.
Gansey, who is from Olmsted Falls, played college ball at West Virginia. He led the Mountaineers to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament. Gansey played professionally overseas in Italy, Germany and Spain, and also played two seasons in the D-League with Anaheim, Idaho and Erie.
Cleveland announced the move on Monday."

Good for Mike. I loved him as a player with the gutsy West Virginia team. Gansey and Pittsnoggle were a great one-two punch despite usually being the least athletic guys on the court. I thought both of them would have had decent "10th man" careers in the NBA, but never got a chance.0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/21/2012 - 6:24pm #708337
Chilbert arenasParticipantIt was hard not to be a Gansey fan for me. That was my junior year of high school when they were at their peak killing it at WVU. Thanks for resurfacing great memories…

DolanCareParticipantThat WVU is what made me a hoopshead. I was young, and assumed that both Gansey and Pittsnogle would make a team. It’s good to see Gansey has stuck with the game… it would warm the cockles of my heart if he ended up being a GM later in my life.
