lakanoParticipantBassy was a quick flashy guard coming out of high school, do you guys think theres any chance Jennings will have a similiar unimpressive start to his career.

d-grizzlyParticipantthere’s always a chance. but i have hope for jennings.

Meditated StatesParticipantI think he has way more potential than Telfair. Telfair is NY alltime leading scorer he’s not a point naturally does not see the game that way like Jennings. Jennings is a better athelete and a legit point with all the passing tools and creating ability. Yes he could have a slow start anyone in this draft could too.

Im Your FatherParticipantI disagree with the comment about Telfair. While he is a bust, it is do to the fact that he can’t shoot or defend, not that he isn’t a true pg, he was one of the best passers ever at the highschool level. He had 13 assists in the McDs All American Game.

RemarqParticipantThere is a 99% chance that he will be just like Telfair. I’ve been saying for a month. Watch them play, they’re the same player.

JNixonParticipantTheres a chance but they are totally different players. I think Telfair is less physically gifted and thats why he has some trouble scoring in the NBA

Meditated StatesParticipantHe did not run the point good at all here. Thats an all star game. Has no relevance to real game play. You throw lobs to dunking teamate while D is non existent. He has never had a good enough assist average in the NBA. He is not a creator. I agree he is a bust based on draft slot but I do agree he will get better. I think he still has potential I’m not down on Bassy, I actually always wanted to see him turn that corner and be 4 real as a legit starter.

tjc23Participantjennings is more of a true point guard he is a pass first score second kind of guy i think he will have good stats maybe a 12 points and 11 assist a game and down the line he will turn in to a chris paul or steve nash type player

butidonthavemoneyJennings is a better leaper, but they have the same game/style/speed/attitude/flair/offensive abilities.
That doesn’t mean that Jennings is doomed to produce only as much as Telfair did. Jennings could still be a superstar, Telfair just didn’t work.

bbrzParticipantIt all depends where he goes. If he goes to a team where he can let his head get to big and just play with no structure he could possibly end up being like telfair. I don’t see that in him if you read the article chad ford did on him about his trip to italy a lot of people over there said he really grew up in that year he spent over there. He’s going to be a special point guard if he can use his athletic ability on the defensive end and limit his wild passes to when he knows hes going to get it to a teamate. A scout over there said GM’s in the nba are “salty” on him because he was supposed to be the headliner at the europe camp in italy but he was so pissed that his playing time had dwindled to nothing when the team he was on hired a new coach that only wanted to use veteran players in order to win a championship that he called his agent to get him on the first flight back to LA. I hope he falls to the bucks at 10 Milwaukee needs a player like him.

apb540ParticipantThey have slightly similar games but only to a small degree. Also, Telfair went way later in the draft because he was not the same type of prospect that Jennings is so I would def have to give Jennings the edge cuz NBA scouts have to know something lol.

Knicksboy34ParticipantAs a Brooklyn Boy. We told Bassy to go to L’Ville but that’s not the point
To answer your question, Yes and No. I say Yes because i see some similarities in their games (i.e the lack of a jumper) and their best attribute (i.e flashy passes). I say No because Jennings when to Europe. I think that made him stronger and smarter (even though he doesn’t sound like it dissing Rubio).
Also, I wanted to say something about Bassy. Did anyone see his HS movie? I was thinking, your Marbury’s cousin? you couldn’t ask that man for some money?

Im Your FatherParticipantthere was a book written about telair at the same time as the movie. Apparently there was tension between the two families, but the Telfairs felt that the Marburys weren’t helping them out as much as they should. For most of that movie, the Telfairs and Marburys were not on speaking terms. Eventually Marbury called Telfair and offered him his advice despite the family fued.( Ha we all know how that advice helped)
