Although Bargnani plays C for the Raptors (to my knowledge), his best position is best suited as a PF. So where would you rank him amongs top NBA PF? Top 10? Maybe top 5? And which team would he best fit in (besides his current team)?

Duncan, Dirk, Amare, Griffin, LA, Love, Pau, Boozer, Garnett, Bosh, D-West and whoever you want to consider the PF for Atlanta (Smith, Horford) I would take before Bargnani. There may be more but I just wanted to put a quick list.

Bargnani is a good player, but the league is really deep at PF.

Just look at the west, a lot of teams have their best player at that position: San Antonio, Dallas, Portland, Memphis, LAC, Minnesota

second best: LAL, New Orleans, Houston, Utah, Sacramento (Cousins is starting at PF with Dalembert at C)

(Some may not agree on who are the best players on each team, but that’s not the point)

Hes probly somewhere in the 15-20 range imo. Hes a top 10 scorer but he just plain cant play defense which is half the game. He is always late on defensive rotations, and has a horrbile defensive IQ. He didnt even record a block in the month of February. Gotta put defense into account when ranking players and Bargnani is just plain horrible on the defensive side of the ball.

There is no way Blatche,Frye, and Hickson better than Bargnani. I know he sucks on defense but he is far better than those guys.

 Better defender and not as soft offensively and can still put up a solid PPg. Frye is basically the same on offense but a better defender a rebounder and Blatche is more versatile while being a better rebounder. 

Having an overgrown SG play up front will never be effective

 think the best fit for Bargnani personal;ly is Toronto. He fits into the Euro marketing scheme, gets praised for playin no D which seems to keep him healthy. I think if he stays injury free he could have a very very long career. He gets 10 mil a year, is the least active player on the floor every other night, and at the end of the day is named a "team leader".

I think the best team for Bargnani to be effective would be the Milwaukee Bucks mostly because they actaully need the scoring, and a stretch 4. Great defensive effort and activity demanded throughout the entire team, and an excellent low post threat in Bogut, not to mention someone who will provide enough rebounding and blocked shots to make up for Bargnanis weakness’s. Having a great scorer like Bargnani on the floor could really help Milwaukee space the floor, and help jennings become a more effiencient playmaker first and scorer second. Salmons, Redd, CDR, Magette, etc. would get more open shots. Bogut could get some rest and Bargnani could get some minutes at C playing small, he rarely ever is iured and is one of the most durable bgs in the game.

If I was an NBA GM I wouldn’t even want Bargs on my team.  He has too many holes in his game.  Barg’s best case scenario is as the first big off the bench.  His intensity would probably pick up if you cut his minutes back to 20-25 a game.  Too often he looks like he’s just going through the motions and I’ve never seen him "take over" a game.  He’s a very average player who was pushed into a scoring role. There are so many PF’s and C’s who if they were given Barg’s opportunity they would put up even better stats.  James Johnson couldn’t even get off the bench in Chi but is a productive player since starting for the Raps.  It shows he can play.  Imagine if Johnson had 4 years of steady playing time under his belt and was given the chance to play through mistakes like Bargs was.  There’s no telling what he could turn into.  Barg’s is what he is… which is to say, disappointing.

I’m sorry but Channing Frye shouldn’t even be in your thought process for an elite PF.  Dude can shoot from outside, that is about it.  The only reason he is a PF is because he is tall, otherwise he might as well be a lesser version of Peja.

I think he’s around #15 right now, but he still has some serious upside.  You don’t find many guys with his combination of mobility, size and skill.  If he was in the right situation he could be top 10.

I would probably make slight changes, but I think Bargnani is probably in about the right place. Yes, he is a 20 ppg scorer, but everyone ranked ahead of him has a definite reason. If you are going to say his ranking is too low for a 20 ppg scorer, is it too low for someone who averages under 6 boards per game in about 36 minutes? His rebounding and defense are what keeps him from being amongst the elite. 14-18 is probably a good place for him right now, and while he is maybe one of the better scoring PF’s in the league, his all-around game leaves a lot to be desired. Any team he plays on you will need to make up for him on the glass and on D, something the Raptors have not been able to do which is why they have been a really bad team, even with Bargnani putting up over 20 ppg.
