When I first heard this I thought it was a joke but sure enough it was true…

    http://blogs.canoe.ca/courtside/general/andrea-bargnani-grabs-19-rebounds-in-a-game/

    Notable quotes from article :

    Yes you read that right.
The most surprising news of the day was that Andrea Bargnani has followed up a 19 point, 10-rebound performance for Italy against Bulgaria with 19 rebounds against Brigham Young. Yes, he was playing an NCAA squad with only three players 6-foot-9 or taller, but 19 rebounds in 20 minutes against anybody is a significant achievement for the NBA’s charter member of the anti-rebounding fan club.

Bargnani is utilized differently by Italy than by the Raptors (he didn’t attempt a three, plays in the post a lot more) but 19 boards prompted some hilarious responses on Twitter

Pretty clever in fact. He did his boards reserve for the whole year whereever he played.

Next game he will defend like a combo of bill lambeer and dikembe mutombo… and after that he will be done with all those aspects of the game.

    That is taylorism 🙂

BYU isnt even good anymore after losing Jimmer, Davies, and Emery, I dont think he could do that against a good team with size like a Duke, UNC or Ohio St

Because it is a pointless fact. Of course he couldn’t get 19 boards in 20 minutes against a good NCAA team. But it is a shocking rebound rate for a subpar rebounder. It is worth noting as is noting that the Italy team puts him in the post more often.

Bargs is a poor rebounder for a 7 footer, but if he can get 5 per game against NBA centers, then I’m not surprised he got 19 against BYU, who like a few you you guys mentioned, feilded two 6’8” players who averaged the same or less rpg against WCC competition.

In my driveway I out rebounded the 4th grade traveling basketball team by a 2 to 1 margin by myself….   seriously though,  it’s like the Seinfeld episode when Kramer is working over elementary school kids in karate class.  Hardly newsworthy.

honestly even as a bargs fan its not really impressive, hopefully he produces in the euro championships, and maybe dwayne casey helps him develop correctly since this is his first REAL coach, because the italian coach knows how to use him..just saying

Well for one bargs has been in the nba for 5 years, just that experience gives him an edge over college players, yeah you might argue they have some nba ready players but nba experience will top that, and the number one reason your Wrong is how the hell is it a FACT if he’s never played unc, duke,Ohio st, hey for all we know all there players could turn out to be flops in the nba.. not saying it will happen but same goes for providence”s comment(its an opinion not a fact)

The fact is he’s a 7’0 250 pounder with a career high of 17 rebounds in one NBA game. He’s still a terrible rebounder, and he’s still soft. This "high rebounding rate" isolated incident against terribly inferior competition doesnt mean SHIT!!

How are you wrong?  If you put Dwight, Bynum, or Love in that situation, they would have grabbed well over 19 rebounds, considering the fact that it’s a college team with two 6’8" big men.

hey read my orginal post i said it wasn’t that impressive, BOL23 and RM3 your both saying the same things, im just saying its not a fact that  he couldn’t put those numbers up on better teams if hes never played them, now if he plays them and doesn’t put those numbers then it would be a fact because it was proven. either this is a useless arguement because it doesn’t matter its just like scoring 50 in a summer league game. what really counts is what bargs does next season, not in these vs college team games.
