Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m not sure the hawks will be able to keep Millsap this summer. Even if they do, I’m not sure antic and Mike Scott are quality rotation guys off the bench. I think they go with a big here and Trey lyles is the best fit of the players left on the board I think.

cryan03ParticipantPaul Millsap is a FA and I have a feeling he might be leaving this summer. Trey gives them a skilled/versatile big similar to Millsap. I think would be a good fit in Bud’s system.

royk927ParticipantI want a big man but I’m not convince that kamisky is the answer. I would love for us to draft Turner. He plays similar to al and we could really use a paint protector. I would like to see U.S. trade up and try to grab him if the price isn’t unreasonable. If not then grab oubre. He could learn some nice things playing behind korver and sefolosha and possibly Carroll if the Hawks can sign him.

BleedGreen808ParticipantKaminsky fits well with Atlanta who is looking to contend again next season. Millsap is not a guarantee to return for them next season. He’s not the defender or shot blocker Atlanta needs but he’s the best fit left on the board.

BleedGreen808ParticipantEDIT: Didn’t notice that the Suns pick was missing. With Kaminsky off the board I’ll change my pick to Trey Lyles. He’s not the same shooter that Kaminsky is but he’s got potential.

ExumInfernoParticipantKelly Oubre
A very tough team to pick for, they need to win now and they also have free agents decisions. Nearly went Portis, but if Millsap and Antic return and they bring over Tavares, they have some size. Nearly went RJ Hunter, they play in a way that gets open shots so him along with Korver would mean great shooting. Oubre gives them depth at small forward, or a replacement of D Carroll is too expensive.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantIf he’s willing to put the work in, this is probably the best place for him to reach his ceiling. He can spend a year or 2 learning behind true professionals (Korver, Carroll, Thabo, Bazemore) who can help him in polishing different aspects of the game, and a system that can put him in a great position to succeed. He can learn how to attack closeouts from Bazemore, how to create good looks from himself by always moving from Korver, how to play disciplined man defense from Sefolosha, & how to cut on the baseline from Carroll. By year 3 he could be a key contributor on a really good team.

TrillaParticipantOubre is intruiging given his sheer talent and potential, but they already have a couple young, long wings. Lyles makes so much sense, is a younger, more skilled version of Adrien Payne, who they drafted and later traded for a future 1st this year. Can see him really developing into a Millsap- esque type of player under MB.

jpitkinParticipantProbably not a common pick, but I think it’s the best fit for them. Budenholzer seems to prefer system fits over pure talent, and Harrell is just that. They need rebounding in a big way, and seem very high on mental toughness, finding and developing a crucial role for DeMarre Carroll for his intensity. They also probably don’t seem to mind having a slightly undersized PF like Harrell, as Millsap was just that, and they still sought him out. Lyles is the higher potential option, but it’s hard to believe the Hawks won’t like the scrappy Harrell instead, especially since he brings a bit more to the table in the short term, which might come in handy if they are not able to afford keeping Millsap this summer

Mr. HookShotParticipantRondae Hollis Jefferson; although slightly surprising be will be the replacement of Carroll who will get a massive offer sheet this summer. Considering the Hawks have more important needs (Millsap) they won’t match and thus lose Carroll. RHJ will slowly develop in a solid offensive player, next to his impact he already will have on defense.

Bed HeadParticipantBased strictly on need, Atlanta should take Trey Lyles, who has a higher upside and is more versatile (at least in theory) than Portis.
However, I’m jumping all over Oubre (BPA by far). While also thanking the two teams picking previous to me for their incredible idiocy.

hawkmanParticipantIt’ll be out of Portis or Oubre. If the Hawks are looking long term, Oubre is too much to resist. He’s raw but he can be shaped into something special. But I think the Hawks are all about the present, so I’m going with Portis. The guy just brings too much to the table. Good size, fluid athlete, rebounding, offense, good BBIQ and a strong motor. I honestly don’t see a scenario where this guy doesn’t work out for the Hawks. Ideally, I hope Hawks find a way to get him AND Rashad Vaughn out of this draft.

Oubre would really thrive in the Hawks system. In the Spur like offense Oubre can hit 3s and drive to the basket in the open court offense the Hawks have. Oubre says he watches Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leanord film, and thinks being a athletic wing playing defense, rebounding, and running the court for open baskets is the new Wing breed. Hawks would give him a good chance to full fill his potential.
