OhCanada-ParticipantWatching him defend is insane. He can basically guard 2 or 3 players at once because of how long his arms are, and he added alot of weight so you can’t just push him around like you can with Mo Bamba. He still runs the floor well too and is coordinated.
Not sure how this guy slid to 44th. Not that it matters he still has a 20 foot wingspan and can shoot the three for 35 feet out lol. Denver’s gonna be insane. They have Porter Jr. and Bol Bol on rookie contracts already producing. Next year Millsap and Plumlee come off the books which is $44 million cleared. Grant has a $9 million player option as well but who knows how that plays out.

armchairgmParticipantYou have to remember #1 it was one game, #2 it was a scrimmage and Denver was missing a bunch of guys so he got a lot of minutes, #3 Washington was missing guys, #4 he is very injury prone. I think he can be a good player as my pre-draft comparison for him was Kristaps Porzingis, but I don’t think he is there yet for the remainder of regular season or playoffs don’t overreact to one game.

OhCanada-ParticipantWell we saw him do it in highschool, saw him do it in college, saw him do it in g league and now in the pros. To me it doesn’t matter how many times he does it. I really only have to do what he did once. Mind you I only saw the highlights but its the fact that nobody else can really do what he does besides Porzingis and Anthony Davis. For the record Porzingis “can” do these things but just has been taught to play the game the wrong way and has a tendency to coast and take plays off, not work hard on the glass and not be much of a presence.
Unique defender. He’s like a black hole, anything that goes near him gets neutralized out of the play. Bol Bol is basically his own personal zone defense. Anyone within 6 feet of him is essentially being guarded. This allows him to gaurd any position effectively because he can give perimeter players plenty of space and they still cant get a shot off. It doesn’t matter if they are in front of him, on the side, behind him, posting him up that shots getting blocked. His height and length advantage combined with his high level instincts and anticipation will allow Denver to lead dribble penetration right into him meanwhile he will still be able to close out and finish defensive rotations.
Can create his own shot. He isn’t just a guy standing on the 3 point line waiting for the ball to be swung to him. He can dribble the ball up the court and pull up on you like KD. I think after Thon Maker ended up being a bust alot of people took Bol Bol’s skills for granted. Well he’s legit, this isn’t a fluke he really does this consistently. He will break your ankles despite being a foot taller than you and knockdown a stepback three or eurostep than dunk on you. The one thing he really struggles with just like Porter Jr. is his playmaking but being on Denver playing in Mike Malones offense through Murray and Jokic will allow Porter and Bol Bol to be finishers. Its just a perfect situation for him.
As I mentioned before the key to this guy is he is smart and he hustles. When compared to Porzingis you’ll notice he is much ore active defensively in finishing rotations or helping his teammates and closing out possessions on the defensive glass. He is more coordinated than Porzingis as well. I personally think he will be a much better player than Porzingis and it wont take long but like any player taller than 7 feet the key will be his health.

RUDEBOY-Participantwatching him grab a rebound, bring the ball up to 3 point line ,with 7 foot wingspan flinging up 3 pointer…. brought back memories of his old man doing the same thing still makes me chuckle…..
bol bol play gave 1 of the most talked about performances so far in these scrimmages…… alot of fans flooded the miami heat message board the other day
asking why the hell did they trade this guy? coach sproeltra & pat riley both addressed the media saying that the 44th pick whoever the player was would be immediately traded in a pre-arranged deal..1+ - Posted on: Fri, 07/24/2020 - 4:39pm #1237977

RUDEBOY-Participantwhile on the subject of 7 foot unicorns…i saw footage of a 16 year, 7’2 kid from france name Victor Wembanyama …i viewed some of his games and .he seems to have the potential to become a top nba project for the 2023 draft in a few years…….

OhCanada-ParticipantYeah he’s good. Being called the best prospect in the world by many. Hes so skinny it hurts to watch though. Somebody needs to feed him. He’s not like your typical 7’2 guy though, seems very comfortable with his size and even dives on the floor for loose balls. Reminds me of Rudy Gobert defensively.

armchairgmParticipantWembanyama is a Porzingis/Bol Bol/Skal Labisierre type player in that he has great size/length, good shot blocker, can stretch floor on offense although pretty raw he shows pretty good ballhandling/passing potential.

khaled_a_dParticipantI think it is too early.
I can get why he wasn’t drafted at 1st round (health and fit etc) but once in 2nd round you should take chance on him.
Good for Denver1+ - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2020 - 10:25pm #1238056
BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantYou know basketball is back when people get excited over scrimmages. All praise to the bubble.

HitsterParticipantHe looked very promising in their latest game against Portland and MPJ is averaging over 30ppg over the last 3 games. So Denver have a couple of bargain picks coming off quite nicely.
