Evan Turner can start any 3 positions in the NBA and become successful..He’s not a great 3 point shooter yet..But like most NBA players that want to become AllStars they work on their weaknesses..Those Scottie Pippen comparisions are a little far off..He reminds me of Steve Smith..I mean Smitty was a baller..He had that little stuttle-step move that would confuse defenders…Smith was an excellent 3 point shooter ,playmaker and solid defender…Even though Smith had a good career..He didn’t have a Hall of Fame career..I see Turner as that same type of solid but not great player…That might make about 3 or 4 AllStar teams…Anyone else agree with me?

not a bad comparison but Turner will have to get his 3 point shot on point to be that and also in nowadays NBA that could help propel Turner to a great standing because Steve Smith was hurt by knew injuries.

i agree…and smith wasnt as good of a shooter when he was in college as he was later in his pro career soi actually like it. turner can be compared with a couple different guys though

solid comparison. But i don’t think you can really relate how Smith’s career went and transfer that to how Turner’s career will go. Smith had some injuries and i also think Turner has more bounce in his step and is a lttle quicker then Steve Smith was. But they do share a lot of similarities and it would not be huge dissapointment if turner did have a simialr career to Smitty.

I like the Brandon Roy comparison the best of all the comparisons.

He’s not the shooter Smith is, but he may be later. I’m not old enough to remember the Michigan State Steve Smith.

evan turner is more of a slashing guard forward.

Smitty was more of a versatile scorer than a point guard. I never seen him play too much but from what i can tell he had bounce

turner could turn out to be a Joe Johnson/Brandon Roy type. A big combo guard that can outmuscle guys, pull up off the dribble, and make the pass.

actually. . i do see alot of smith in turner’s game . but , he rebounds alot better than smith did .

I think Turner will be a better NBA player than Smith. Not to say Smitty wasn’t good, but I think Turner is a more physically gifted player. He is a better 1 on 1 player IMO.

he has a bit of manu ginobli in his game . . he’s very crafty && smart. . .he has that stutter step, cross over, hesitation moves, euro-step, pro hop, etc . . . . .

I don’t know where you guys are getting that Smith couldn’t shoot out of college. He was 41.6 percent in four years at Michigan State, including 66-of-162 (40.2 percent) his senior year. He also scored at a higher rate.

I think Smith and Brandon Roy, two common comparisons, are both a little shaky for Turner because, in general, I just don’t see him as that type of 20-plus per game scorer. That’s not to say he can’t be better than Smith — he’s already a much better defender and rebounder.

Turner, to me, could end up being similar to Grant Hill, but smaller and weaker. He won’t be able to pull down eight rebounds per game simply because he’s not tall or strong enough. But he’s got a similar level of refinement to his ball-handling and passing skills, and similar to Hill, he doesn’t blow by people that often, instead just creating space to get his shot off.
