David Stern a.k.a. da muthaf@cking leader of da kryptsParticipantIf the players dont accept the owners proposal of BRI (51-49) it’s going to be very hard to get a deal done because the next proposal from the owners only gives 47 percent of BRI to the players. Plus theres a lot of the system issues that both sides don’t agree on. It’s been more than 4 months since the lockout started and they aren’t that much closer to getting a new deal. There’s 5 and a half months left untill the start of the playoffs and I don’t think they have enough time to save this season. What do you think?

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think there will be a season. This is headed for decertification.

omphalosParticipantI agree with IndianaBasketball… the season is gone. The players overreached and the owners are officially pissed off enough that they aren’t going to back down anymore. I just hope I won’t look back on these days and say "that was the beginning of the end for the NBA".

JunkYardDogParticipantit’s getting worse and worse… bad way of thinking from both parts.
I don’t see good things happening cause I don’t think neither the players nore the owners really want to make sacrifices.
Players have been very well treated for years and don’t want to see economic reality, face to face.
Owners seem to want to clash and win more long term by missing one season.
Too bad for fans, workers… WE ARE THE TURKEYS OF THAT BAD JOKE (french expression)

uknationParticipantNo season..decertification comming and the threat of that could possibly cause the owners to reconsider and go up a percentage and a half

M.GarveyParticipantI predict no season, which means lots of streaming NCAA games for me.

Scottoant93ParticipantI agree its apparent there will be no season, players thought owners would back down and bow down to them and as you can tell it isn’t and didn’t work, Its a shame that greed always gets in the way of everything, i get these athletes are "talented" and they say they worked their a$$ to get where they’re at but when your millionaires already does giving up a couple million really hurt, i know i keep saying this and i will continue to keep saying it, some people wish they had money to spare, they’re some people are barely making ends meet, some people who are so poor they wish they could get a college education or their school even afford current textbooks, some starving etc, clearly players have forgot where they come from, and perhaps most of them foolishly spent their money away. Honestly i could care less what people do with their lives, but when your putting people out of work because you refuse to take a 3% paycut don’t say "im sorry" to them, tell them straight up im a greedy "F@CK" because "while i could easily help you by giving your job back by accepting a deal im gonna refuse to accept the deal because im losing a few million despite being a millionaire, thats a bigger lose then you who are working for min. wage, and trying to support your family and most likely barely have enough to pay next month bills let alone a whole year as myself". One more time i don’t give a f@ck if your the product, unless you’re your own boss, you shut up, do your job and quit being such a B@tch. EVERYONE, i repeat EVERYONE starts from the bottom, a 22 year does not become a CEO in one year, it takes years of long hours, hard work, sacrafices, blood sweat and tears to get to the top, being an athlete or "the product" gives you no right to complain unless it means your boss breaks the law(sexual harrassment, paying below min wage,etc.). Even actors(the product) start in sh!tty roles, and then get into big movies causing their pay to increase, you don’t see them on strike. Grow the Hell Up, do your job, and employ the people who actually need money, not some drama queens who can easily make their money last if they live beneath their standards(You don’t NEED 100mil cars ,houses, fancy kitchen you probably won’t ever cook in, fancy clothes or shoes),or at least buy things they can afford.

Scottoant93Participant^^^ hey they’re the owners they can do whatever the f@ck they want, it might not jive well with people , but who are we to stop them. you see owners working at there own places all the time. Now explain how my comments are ridiculous its a simple one if you read it correctly or do you fail to comprehend ?

OhCanada-ParticipantWhats the difference between a self made millionaire and an average joe. The average joe found something he or she is good at and gets paid for it, the millionaire found something he or she is good at and became the best at it, (or one of the best). It takes alot of effort to be better then everyone else. There is a reason why millionaires get paid more then average joes. I hate when people speak on millionaires money as if its expendable, as if it wasnt earned and an average joes money was. As if they dont deserve it.
The fact is the owners are currently planning on taking away a good amount of the players profit, yet they cannot replace the players if they do not agree. Office workers, movie stars, and average joes are expendable, but you cant replace Lebron James with anyone in the world. This gives the players a bit of leverage in the matter.
The players need the owners to play in arenas full of fans, to create schedules, organize events, and actaully run the league. Without the owners and players collaborating they cant rape the fans pockets. A mutual agreement needs to be made, and we just have to wait.

Scottoant93Participant1. athletes are not self made millionaires(job wise No, skill wise yes), they are employees of the NBA, self made means you created something yourself, they did not make the league. they help make it run they didn’t make it.
2.Whats the difference between a self made millionaire and an average joe? Nothing, exactly my point, so in your terms your saying just like the avg. joe he can be taking a paycut because he has a boss(owners), owners trying to make profit(yeah every owner does that, wouldn’t you its your business?) just like every employee would be pissed they got a paycut)
3.you cant replace Lebron James with anyone in the world? Everyone is replaceable, when lebron is gone someone will take his place, will an avg joe replace him to some degree No, will an avg joe replace a scientist, doctor, auto painter, an actor No. Can an Avg athlete do any o those jobs i listed.. maybe a few but i really doubt it
4.A mutual agreement needs to be made, and we just have to wait? That I agree with you, We can argue this all day and night, but I don’t want to hear about athletes apoligize to workers when they are part of the problem too. I guess this is just another Double standard

GrandmamaParticipantA few months ago I felt there would be a shortened season that started sometime in January. At this point I don’t believe there will be a season…unfortunately

Jlv2011this is just antics of collective bargaining. There will be a deal and there will be a season.
