  Haha, no he’s a big blonde kid, but a few years ago a guy posted matter of factly that they were indeed cousins.

Colton Iverson hasn’t gotten a lot of talk on this forum, and it’s probably because he’s a borderline late 2nd/undrafted player who is slow and doesn’t have a very exciting playing style, but after having a great season at CSU and getting a combine invite, I think he is a guy who could find his way to an NBA roster.
First of all, he’s enormous. He’s a legit 7 foot with an extremely strong frame, an NBA ready rebounder and a guy who knows his game and brings physicality and hard screens to the table as well. I think has the making of a 3rd string center. Fez, Aaron Gray, Mozgov, and the Collins twins all have great size and are always on a team because of it. I see a lot of Aaron Gray in Iverson’s game and if he does well in workouts, I could see a team taking a shot in the late 2nd.
I feel we’ve talked about every 2nd round prospect thus far, but what do you guys think about Iverson? I still feel he’s only got a 50/50 shot. He’s not a flashy pick, but it’s hard to overlook a guy like him. He doesn’t have the athletic ability of Zeke Marshall or Norville Pelle but when looking at a center in the late 2nd, it might not be a bad idea to grab a guy who knows his game, his role, and could give you a few minutes and a big body in practice from day 1.

JW,i’m with you on Colt…And it seems NBA teams like his game and want to see him in a pro setting..Thats why he was among the Top 60 players invited to the combine….His best assets are his back to the basket game,his toughness,scores in a variety of ways and he’s a great rebounder……Plus he has a good feel for the game….I think some teams could use him as a 3rd big….

  Memphis has two picks in the last 5 and with Pittman being waived before the playoffs and them trading Haddadi and Speights, I think they have the need for a 3rd string center and he fits their physical style of play. Again, not a flashy pick, but I think Memphis would be an ideal place for him.

    Teams like Houston,Portland and OKC could use his inside scoring and toughness…..Memphis already has that in Gasol and Randolph..I think Memphis could use some creative perimter players who can shoot and they can use an athletic 7 foot shot blocker with length and runs the floor..

Iverson might be a little bit smaller and his offensive game is not as polished, but he is tougher and battles harder for the offensive boards. Colton is a classic big man who gets his buckets in the paint. Because of his lack of elite athleticism, he finds a number of ways to score below the rim. Most importantly, he has high basketball I.Q. and will be an efficient player. I don’t see how the Spurs could pass on him with the 58th pick, so I say he is going to be drafted.

This guy was a complete scrub at Minnesota and I just kind of forgot about him til I seen him in the tourney this year. He didn’t strike me as an NBA player but he was definitely much improved since his Minnesota days.

I am with Joe Wolf here. The Grizzlies NEED a center. It would actually be a second string center since Jon Leuer is more of a power forward.
When Marc Gasol goes to the bench, things start to really break down. He is our anchor on defense and our go-to guy (and sometimes Point Center) on offense.
I actually miss Hamed Haddadi. I also kind of wish that Hasheem Thabeet was still on the team.
Yeah, we need a center. We have three picks in the second round, hopefully we come away with one.
We could use some more scoring and 3 point shooting from the wing, but I think our biggest need is a backup center/shot blocker. Right now Darrell Arthur is our third big, but he is a step slow, injury prone, and not the same athlete he was before his Achilles injury.
As far as wing scorers go, I think Reggie Bullock sounds good. He sounds like he could be a role player that hits shots. Adonis Thomas looks like a wild card. I think if he loses weight, gets in shape, and focuses he could be a late round steal.
I also like Seth Curry’s potential as a 3 point bomber off the bench. We could use him in small-ball lineups with Bayless or with Tony Wroten at point guard.
I am not sure we need another small guard, but if we get one I really like Peyton Siva as a hard-nosed back up point guard who fits our Grit ‘n Grind style.
