There are many all-star caliber players already in the league. Many have almost been chosen or snubbed on numerous occasions. Here some guys that i think if they do just a little bit more will finally make that next step past the all-star caliber label and become full fledged all stars. Obviously there are many younger all-satr caliber players also ready to take that next step, but those guys are young mostly just coming off their rookie contracts. This is for guys who have been in the league for a while, if you know what i mean, atleast 5 years or more
-Al Jefferson-Bobcats-This guy averaged 20-10 at minnesota twice. He lead utah into the playoffs 2011-2012. He averaged around a block and a steal last year. Truthfully i dont know what else he needs to do to make it. He is a little slow footed i get it. Maybe going to the eastern conference is his best chance. If he can contribute to the bobcats record improving significantly and being among the eastern conference playoff race i think he can make a front court spot for the east within next year or within the next few years. I think he can score around 20pts and 9-10rebs per game for the cats. I mean if kyire, who’s team was horrible made it, i think al can, if he isnt snubbed disrespectfully and tyson chandler is picked over him. He is without a doubt a top 5-6 center in this league.
-Jsmoove-Pistons- Jmoove just needs to make less turnovers and refine his shot repertoire to more closer shots to the rim. Every year he is always is a definite all star for months on and off. Its just his inconsistence throughout the year leaves him left out out. Maybe this year he really works on that mid range and when he is left open for the 3 he thinks about taking 2 or 3 dribbles in before considering what to do on offense. He is so athletic and you can tell when at his best has a high basketball iq. He dosnt give up. He just needs to think be the best you can be for the team. Go Jsmoove im rooting for you.
-Monta ellis-whoever it depends, this guy can play the pg position i dont care what anybody say. He has averaged 6 assists 2 years at the shooting guard position, that incredible. If he can get a shot at the 1 i think the increased responsibility of having to get every body shots and run the offense will without a doubt take away from his volume shooting. It will also help him by moving him away from guarding much bigger shooting guards.
-Jeff Green-Celtics-dominate athlete, solid shooter, tough defender. This guy when the lights on in his head can illuminate the gym. Obviously he was awesome in college. He put up 16pts per game in okc before he was traded. I think with pierce and kg gone he will maintain a more aggressive, consistent mindset. Yea all star soon.
-Rudy Gay-What to say about him. He will take over a game offensively. He will go at your best perimeter player. He can hit big shots in the 4th quarter, and gives decent defense. The thing with him is he believes in that jumper too much. He also doesnt pass as much as you would want your offensive leader to. He also can post up. this was an issue with not meshing with randolph in memphis. in toronto he plays next to amir johnson who isnt a true post up player. Gay will get more space to utilize that factor in his game in toronto, which he should considering how he is 6’8 and bigger than most small forwards in this league. Take it to the rack more rudy. We know you can stroke it but people move out the way when you lift off to the basket.
-Gallinari-Nuggets-The last 2 years in denzer its been a toss up between whose team is it. Is it Lawson or danilo’s team. I say who cares. To me Danilo has a better shot to be an all star via so many quality guards in the west moving forward. Randolph, lee, dirk, ar all 30 or older. Aldridge is 28. he has more room to make it in upcoming years. This guy can score, doesnt back down on defense, i mean really score, can pass well by way of a couple on espn top 10, did i mention he can light it up from outside? The only thing with him is every once in a while he has consistency problems. then again he was coming back from being hurt this year, towards the end of the year he regained his form. I really think he will make it within the next couple years.

I’m not sure any of these players will be All Stars next year, but if I had to bet I’d say Josh Smith has the best chance. Al Jefferson has to compete with Roy Hibbert, Joakim Noah, Brook Lopez, Greg Monroe, and even Nic Vucevic. Jeff Green and Rudy Gay have to compete with Lebron, Carmelo, Paul George, and Paul Pierce. Monta Ellis, if he is put at PG, has to compete with Rondo, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, and John Wall in the East, and Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Ricky Rubio, and possibly Eric Bledsoe. PF is either the weakest or 2nd weakest (next to SG) position in the East, so if Josh Smith puts up similar to slightly better numbers from last year then he could squeeze in there.

If I had to insert a player in that list, I would put John Wall in there. He put up good assist numbers running the break with Beal last year, and with him improving and adding Otto Porter in the lineup, I could see him averaging 9-10 assists with 17-19 points, 2.5 steals, and a block

I didn’t feel like reading anything but the names to save myself a headache.. But Danilo Gallinari?? He won’t even play most of the season, and I see injuries becoming more and more an issue with him. Not to mention Ellis’s All-Star days are behind him back when he averaged 25 PPG.

With the new format 2 guards and 3 forwards Al doesn’t compete with only Centers anymore.

Also in the East if Charlotte does improve and he puts up 20-10 he should get the coach’s vote to make the all-star game. Hopefully it won’t be Bosh again that makes it unless he actually deserves it.

I like the Stephen Curry suggestion… as long as he stays healthy (big IF) he should get in. I could see Jeff Green having a chance since he will get a ton of shots this year, but he needs to up the aggression. Josh Smith might have a chance if the Pistons play up to their potential and he actually hits outside shots.
