    Here it is. And never mind, Bill Simmons didn’t create it, he just wrote about it. Dave Cirrilli came up with it in the mid-90s

    Bill Simmons wrote about the Ewing theory, I read it a year or two ago when I was searching through the archives, gimme a second to look it up. It’s basically that the team is better off or they can win withour their best player, somthing like that because that guy stunts the production of the other guys.

    And, no I don’t think Love applies, you can’t replace 13 boards a game and 2 threees a game, it might be true, but I don’t think so.

     Patrick Ewing theory says a team will play better without their star player at least in the short term.  Even the Bulls win every time Derrick Rose gets hurt.  Derrick Williams will have a huge night Blake Griffin can’t guard him

     I think Simmons and the Ewing example were actually more long term but it actually is even more true in the short term than the long term
