I am not a very active poster, I lurk a lot and read a lot of the posts here, though. I wanted to start a thread about my countryman(Bulgaria) Aleksandar Vezenkov who here is thought to be a potential NBA player in the future and since there are people here who are familiar with basketball from all over the world, I wanted to ask for your opinions on his chances to someday play in the league. I don’t have the opportunity to watch his games and the only information I get is from the internet – news articles and youtube videos.

He was supposed to play at Xavier this year, but instead he chose to turn pro and play for the Greek Aris. He seems to be playing PF, he’s 6’8 and 210 pound. He is having an amazing season so far(for an 18 year old) and his stats are quite unbelievable. He’s been getting a lot of minutes lately and is averaging 26 min/game(9 games so far), 12 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.4 TO on 57% FG, 50% 3PFG, 92% FT.

Here are the only videos I’ve seen of him playing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp6fiJ_Ngkk (for Bulgaria U18 National Team)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr8-ORocRrM (for Aris)

And here’s his performance against Euro champion Olympiakos(19 points on 67% shooting from the field and 3/4 from 3):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4pyou7OD3M

His height and physical attributes seem to be good, but he does not seem extremely atletic and his shot seems a bit awkward, but very accurate(and he’s a leftie). Do you think his game would translate well to the NBA? Do you even think he has a chance to some day be drafted? He signed with Aris for 3 years last summer, so he’s tied with them until the summer of 2016 it seems. Thanks for your input and cheers.

This looks like a job for Euroballer, especially seeing as he’s playing in the Greek league. Haven’t heard from him in a while…

The thing I like about the second round of the Draft is that some random names start popping up from overseas. This is where scouts think they found a diamond in the rough, and can stash a player overseas and watch his development. If he turns out, bring him over. If not, no big deal, it’s only a 2nd round pick. This guy has a sweet lefty stroke. He doesn’t have to create his own shots at 6’8" and he looks skinny so he can probably add muscle. I could see a team this year or next picking him up with the intent that he stays in Greece for a few years and then transitions over.

He is NOT 6-8. He is 6-9. This is Greek League, not NBA. Many players are listed barefoot. He is listed BAREFOOT. He is 6-9.
