    I think this is a win/win. Obviously Jefferson helps ease the loss of Boozer and Minnesota had a logjam at that position and seems intent on stockpiling draft picks. With the injury concern and lack of defense I think 42mil over the next 3 years is a bit steep but if he can get back to his pre-injury form (at least offensively) I think this could work out nicely. Plus, I think Jefferson will benefit greatly from playing with an elite PG.

      I disagree with one part and love another. I think Al Jeff is a pretty solid defender – he blocked some shots. And don’t forget, he’s an incredibly raw player playing for a screwed up franchise. Jerry Sloan is the best thing that could have happened to him besides…………………………………………..Deron. I think if you look at a center offensively, you can never see the whole picture unless you know who their point guard was. And Deron is top three, I think. Easily top five. Al Jeff will be a top 3 big man soon. Pretty blod claim, but I’ll stick with it.

    Great trade for the Jazz. As usual Minny gets a bunch of draft picks. What are the terms of those draft picks specifically. Anybody have a link discussing that?
    I am hoping that coach Sloan will use both Jefferson and Millsap in the starting lineup, especially while Memo is still undergoing rehab for his injury in the playoffs vs. Denver. He might even use the same lineup after Memo returns, and Memo is used off the bench to play a Channing Frye type role. Expect Jefferson to play the 5 while Millsap starts at the 4. Now Utah will have a very defensive team, a little small, but still effective defensively, with AK, Millsap and Jefferson all in the Starting Lineup. Just what Sloan likes. FINALY, UTAH MAKES SOME NOISE! Now, we just need a backup for Millsap, a replacement Matthews unless Utah decides to match Portland’s offer, resign FEZ and the Jazz will once again have a successful offseason, and get a roster able to compete for a playoff spot and not loose any momentum in what is going to be a very tight playoff race as it always is. THANK YOU KOC FOR MAKING THIS DEAL!!!!!!

    Dwill/Price/Gaines
    Matthews/Miles/Jeffers
    Kirilenko/Hayward
    Milsap/Okur(when healthy)Koufus(when waiting for Okur)
    Jefferson/Fesenko

    Jefferson is one of those players who is a 20/10 guy. But with the wolves sucking and all i never really checked in to see him play other than against the jazz. What does he bring to the table? Is he a decent pick and roll man? is he fairly smart basketball wise? Could some one break down what big al is gna look like as a jazz?

    I still look at Jefferson as a PF… but I think he will breakout this year with Deron Williams. The combination of Millsap/Jefferson/Okur seems pretty good.

    Jefferson is a well rounded offensive player. He’ll dominate the post if it is just 1v1 . He is not a good passer out of the post but will be able to score. He’s got a decent 12fter that would kill. Pick and roll, haven’t really seen him work the pick and roll because he doesn’t have the hops to be really affective maybe because he’s never had a pg like Dwill. He is not the best defender and will be abuse by stronger centers. Jefferson’s best bet is to play PF while Okur starts at center. Jefferson’s role at center should only be used when team up with Milsap.

    @FDAPO

    They look great offensivly. But I think they will struggle defensivly. Atleast D.Will got some help. I really hope he gets to the playoffs again, he deserves it.

    As a Minnesota fan (sadly) I have witnessed the type of basketball player the Utah Jazz will be getting many a time. Al Jefferson, when healthy, is the best individual, low post offensive scorer in the NBA. His footwork, pump fakes, and ability to make tough shots is unmatched by any of todays NBA posts. That being said, do not mistake him for being a pick and roll power forward, because he is a fish out of water anywhere outside of 10 feet. He’s not very mobile either so you Jazz fans thinking you got a pick and roll partner for DWill are going to be disapointed from that aspect. When you need a bucket, Big Al is the perfect guy to just throw the ball into and let him go to work. He doesnt pass out of the post at all, in his defense, the idea of passing to Corey Brewer, Ryan Gomes, and Sasha Pavolivich does sound pretty stupid, so who knows how he’ll do with guys who can actually shoot…but thats Al’s offensive game in a nutshell. Pure low post scorer.

    Defensively, Al is about as bad as they get. Contrary the previous posters opinion that Al is a good defender becasue he blocks some shots, Al is a terrible defensive player, and really doesnt block all that many shots either. He’s too small to guard good Centers (even though there aint many) or be that defensive presence to prevent guys from slashing all game, but he really isnt athletic enough to guard the new NBA 4s that play more on the perimeter. So defensivly he’s like a 4.5 (a cross between a PF and C). Unfortunatly he just isnt a very good defensive player.

    The Jazz are getting a pretty good player here in Al Jefferson, he’s a potential 22 and 10 guy, and last years numbers were down due to recovery from an ACL surgery, which takes time. Al isnt the flashy type of player who is going to run the floor like a gazelle, catch a pass and dunk in somebody’s face, or provide that highlight reel swat off the backboard, but he is a steady offensive player and he does rebound the heck out his area. If he can learn how to pass out of the post, and at least become somewhat aware defensivly, then the Jazz have arguably upgraded their roster from Boozer. Al is an All Star Caliber player, who is still only like 25 years old, so who’s to say he cant improve even more. Good pickup for the Jazz.

    Hopefully the Twolves can draft some actual good players with the picks, and not trade them away for more picks.

    I like the pickup but someone said now they will have a very defensive team? Not sure if you watched Jefferson but he’s bad on defense. About the same as boozer on d. With that said I still thunk this was a great pick up for the jazz and I look forward to playing wit or against Jefferson during the off season out here in Utah

    Al Jefferson is atleast 3 inches taller than Boozer, so this is already an upgrade. After getting destroyed by the Lakers frontline, the Jazz needed to get taller frontlines and Jefferson should provide some length to atleast match with either Gasol or Bynum.
